Just a little clarification for Moe:

With your attitude there will never be any good stuff for you in any independent Gambian newspaper esp. one like Freedom Newspaper. You therefore need not ask for any good thing coming from Editor Mbai's desk. It's like me getting no good stuff from Jammeh's Observer.

Hope that helps.

The observer is a legitimate paper being authored by upstanding citizens and not based on tribalism. Look at the writers at the D.O , You cannot convince me that they have all been indoctrinated. They are the most professional Journalist in the country this much I can assure you. Pa Nderry's paper is just a figment of his twisted imagination, It helps boost his fcked up ego. Freedom is a terrorist site Period!!..........................................Peace

I am glad Mr M'bai came out and apologized to those he might have offended in his report.. Editor Mbai dares test limits and it's paying off because even his most fierce critics can't turn their back on Freedom Newspaper ( a powerhouse among Gambian media fraternity). Yes he's been involved in certain regrettable controversies but overall he has succeeded in in providing Gambians with very many good stuff!

This is the point!!! Thanks Senegambia.

I like the Freedom mainly because of its aggressive reporting. The Gambia, with its repressive media laws, needs that. The Freedom takes the Gambian public officials to task and compels them to come forward and clarify and be accountable to the citizens more than other online newspapers (of course except the GAINAKO, my bible).
The Freedom is also very prolific and prompt, spewing large amounts of information daily., including many "breaking news"; some of which stand the test of time.
I am a voracious reader of the Daily Observer too because of some of the same reasons I like Freedom. The Daily Observer is equally prolific and prompt, and its reporting of, especially court cases, are very useful. But that is perhaps where the similarities end. beyond that the D.O. is the polar opposite of the Freedom...

okay I will give you the latest one. The Amadou Samba and Fish Co. (Fisco) alleged drug involvement. It is the Freedom newspaper that has compelled the Interior ministry and others to come forward to testify and clarify, a feat that even the Gambia's National Assembly would not be able to accomplish...

Dr.Tangara is Gambian. He may have his origins from Mali though and largely educated in the 'french' system. From 'francais' school banjul to universities in senegal, morocco, belgium and france. This couldbe the reason why hes not known by many outside the academic circles. His mum is gambian from nuimi. His family home is in Banjul boxbar road.
Pa should do his homework. Not anyone with an unusual second name is foreigner.

I hope this helps.

Not too fast Turk. You were gulping the Bud before i chipped in and you seem to enjoy every drop. On frank note, I have to agree with you, Bud is piss.

Beer? Shaka started it. My gulp was because of Shaka's harsh response, as he does it once in a while and I got scared. That is where the gulp was coming from. Not because of beer. My beer limit is two, only on the weekends when I am not working and now Ramadan is coming. So no concern for AA.

For this important topic, here is what I think, I am against any discrimination based on one's ethnicity, in this case, it does not matter how the person get citizenship, as long as he or she is a citizen and loves the country his citizenship should not be question. Whether he or she is Lebanese, Malian or British. Gambian constitution allows citizenship even the person was not born in Gambia. It also allows citizenship via marriage and staying specific time period.

C'mon Kay, the Gambia Government and its functionaries are obliged to clarify their position in matters that concern Gambian citizens and residents, especially with enquiries from international institution. It does not have to be Fisco or Amadou Samba. Freedom 'newspaper' did not compel any of the government instituitions to "come forward and clarify" nowt. Last time i checked the correspondence was between a bank and government institutions. Pa Nderry commited a crime and was threatened with a legal suit for slander and libel. He chickened out and morphed from a slanderer to Amadou Samba's griot-in-chief over night. Defending Pa Nderry in this case is associating yourself with criminality. Therefore it is hypocrisy to turn around and accuse the Sheikh and the Gambia government of similar crimes. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Gambians are good at twisting facts and aligning every issue to their twisted minds. The letters from the concerned authorities where not press releases they are letters sent to HSBC. The letters were meant to clear the name of a HSBC client (Amadou Samba). It was unnecessary to mention FISCO in the letters because he probably has no business with HSBC.

The issue is, Mr. getting chubby and his tribalist friends are claiming some Gambians don't have "Gambian faces," and those people with supposedly unusual "faces" should suspend their important government portfolios to "clear issues" with walmart loaders.

Thanks for the clarification Madiba, we all know that even johnny just came from the bush can enroll at any gambian primary school without birth papers and a good number of kids do not own birth certificates. The best guest to most peoples ages is "two years before Koukioe's war, when the big storm swept the Alkalo's pants."

How many of these Gambian Birthers even know how a BC looks like, much less own one?

Pa Nderry and the Freedom committed no crime at all. The story they reported is largely true and is corroborated by others, such as Dida Halake who claims he has commentary evidence in support of the substance of Freedom's assertions.
I was surprised that Pa Nderry apologized to Mr. Samba, because there is no basis for an apology. He did not do anything wrong and there is no merit for any law suit against him or the Freedom. Not in the U.S....
