I believe Pa Nderry didn't have the cajones to stand behind this one because unlike others Amadou Samba has the wherewithal, deep pockets and time to get in a plane and sue him. Contrary to popular believe, the dude (Pa Nderry) is not demented. |

Oh, Kay get real. As much as he hate Amadou Samba even Mr Halakou would not implicate Mr Samba in a drugs crime. His beef with Mr Samba is related to Daily Observer management issues. Pa Nderry on the other hand alleged both Samba and Fisco were drugs dealers linked to the billion dollar cocaine bust without any shred of evidence to substantiate his allegations. That is criminal. Who the hell is Mr Halakou anyway? You can defend him all you want but like Mansa said "Contrary to popular believe, the dude (Pa Nderry) is not demented." He certainly is not.quote: Originally posted by kayjatta
Pa Nderry and the Freedom committed no crime at all. The story they reported is largely true and is corroborated by others, such as Dida Halake who claims he has commentary evidence in support of the substance of Freedom's assertions. I was surprised that Pa Nderry apologized to Mr. Samba, because there is no basis for an apology. He did not do anything wrong and there is no merit for any law suit against him or the Freedom. Not in the U.S....

"Gambia risk going through an Ivory Coast like crisis if we continue to ignore genuinely and comprehensively addressing the issue of citizenship. Judging by rhetoric nonsense peddled against Jammeh, Yankuba Touray, and now Dr. Tangara, a generation of Gambians risk disenfranchisement by xenophobic thugs lurking around the gullible and feeble minded."
The above was from my hommie, Prince. The Prince was charming in his assessment....I have been thinking alike for sometime. I guess people don't like to talk about these things...or they think they will offend someone or that they will be painted with the color of xenephobic hystyeria. However, the Ivory Coast crisis about who is a citizen and who isn't is a good primer the Prince brought up to elucidate his views. We might go down that road, too in the future...all indications point to that. Personally, I don't care about all these flimsy accusations against Jammeh, Yanks and Tangara to me. They are ludicrous...these fellas are as Gambian to me as we all are. Yanks was ridiculed time after time in Baddibu, my home for being a foreigner. Even Jamemeh had to chastise the Baddibunkas for still refusing Yanks' origins in Baddibu. "Baddibunkulo, fo al-tel-la luntaya buka bang" meaning, does "foreigness" in your place ever end? Yanks, Jammeh and Tangara are Gambian to me...they speak the languages, they eat super kanja and domoda and yassa and chebu jen, they went to school, they do everything Gambian like the rest. So what's the deal with all these issues about their citizenship and otherwise? Huh? I think the likes of Tangara and Yanks will not lead us to a similar Ivory Coast issue, that will not happen. The modern-day influx of foreigners might lead us to some citizenship issues later, say 25 or 50 years from now when most of us on this Bantaba would have long returned to the Creator. With the rate of foreigner influx, we will run into problems around national identity. Remember, the Smiling Coast is a small piece of land, and I don't know how many foreigners currently live in Gambia, but it sure should motivate the imagination that someday, there could be a huge population explosion of foreigners and their offspring. There will be tensions. It is possible that there could be more foreigners in Gambia than native borns. More Gambians continue to leave the Smiling Coast for political and economic reasons. It is true also that some Gambians have been returning home, but that pales in comparison with the number of departees... the exodus is haemorraghing.
So foreigners will occupy the spaces...already Gambian urban areas are increasingly being populated by recent arrivals from the west african coastline, Nigeria, Liberia and S/Leone. Gambia or at least the urban centers could be like Dubai where some estimates have it that there are more foreigners or foreign-born than actual natives...Dubai can afford this it has the resources to enable all partake off in the state's bounty. In the Smiling Coast, it is poverty and misery everywhere, limited opportunities and resources...it is and will continue to be a steeper scramble for the palliatives of life for the majority. This will be a combustion for political upheaval.
Frankly, I have no solutions, I am no social scientist, demographer or ethno-anthropologhist. I am not a policy maker either. What I know is that Yaya Jammeh and his government seem not have any clue about social issues like this. Theirs is a government running on empty...no ideas, no strategic thinking, no policy-oriented goals and no appraisal of the outlines of the country's future. This is not funny...not funny when social issues like this one and others are not being evaluated by policymakers and leaders in our government. Jammeh is sitting in Kanillai eating huge lamb chops and wining and dining with people...you see them, government functionaries on tv sitting their arses in kanillai for weeks, when the country's problems do not even get examined let alone resolved... Yuck!
On the Amadou Samba's issue, I agree with Kayjatta, my brother from another mother, that Freedom shouldn't have apologized to Samba based on the two government letters and the threatening suit from supposed attorney jeremy jones. The two pieces of evidence were not enough. The two letters were identitical written by two different government functionaries, a heavyweight like Amadou Samba and who has good contacts with the president could easily influence letters of such import on his behalf, additionally the letter from the attorney jones has no letter head, and why did he threaten editor mbai against publishing his own letter and what has been his action since mbai published his letter? What is he going to do? I think the jones letter was a fraud, a scam to scare the beesewax out of mbai. I don't think jones is a bonafide lawyer...it looks likes he is a PR man, a fly-by-night attorney hoping the advantage of anonymity would help him settle a score for a supposed client.
I know one Jeremy T. Jones a corporate lawyer in California. I know because I used to live in Santa Babara, California where I attended college, University of Redlands. And his company is bonafide, he is a well known attorney in the corporate world...his company is not called Jones Ageny, the one used by Jones in the the Freedom story. The whole episode was a fraud to me...I am shocked that mbai didn't see through this before he recanted his story. I would agree with the recanting if mbai knew from a body of facts unrelated to the two identitical letters from the government functionaries and a fake threat of suit from a mysterious attorney, that his story is bogus, without merit. I will not accept the merit of the recanting based on these inferences...they are not enough to me. I will accept the merit of the recanting based on facts that Amadou Samba was indeed not involved in the cocaine issue. So far I have not seen any facts either to implicate Samba or absolve him...I am stranded on death row.

Kuno, you raised ANOTHER important issue our immigration policy should address. The current rate of immigration is unsustainable, and frankly speaking, it is bothersome. I won't spend endless hours talking about the problems of uncontrolled influx of immigrants into our bothers.
I am also not going to claim solutions to our immigration dilemma but a good start would be introducing some criteria of obtaining residence. Currently, the ONLY criteria of residing in Gambia is paying a nominal annual fee. This should change, we should find some way of keeping out the "undesirables" of other nations from inundating our boarders. Most Gambians in foreign countries had to meet some requirements to stay in their current host nations. Gambia isn't Canada or Australia with abundant land and resources to be yelling, "Give me your tired, your poor..." So, your views are not xenophobic, they're pragmatic.
Sadly, neither Jammeh nor the opposition will do a darn thing about immigration, you don't hear them talk about it in the "statements" they call policy. The people who are suppose to make our immigration policy will keep embezzling "alien taxes" and then have their potbellies put the slammer by Jammeh.
Btw, I really liked the Santa Babara area... I took a summer Arabic class at UC Santa Babara and the beach around that area is terrific- reminded me of Gambia without the .... |

It is obvious that Pa Nderry has no type of "neeney Koi" He authored it decided it was unfounded and based on lies and propaganda, became Every Mbye his Uncle instantly. The man is such a pathological liar he is busy trying to save face after his second Embarrasing moment. The first apology was years ago and he never ever mentioned it after that, Lets see how much Cajones he got. hopefully he will give the florida's based business man the time of his life once again Challenge the first embarrassing moment Pa if you are the man......"Honto Permit 3" Falai Baldeh even told Pa Nderry "Bull Dee DeluGanaw, De Wah Lee De wahh lay lay" they are all confused pathological liars the curse of a Nation. Pa Nderry is a certified criminal, a role that anyone can take but damn well punishable................................................Peacequote: Originally posted by mansasulu
