What's the lesser evil, toubab? Trial by mercenary judge, or, by a jury of one's peers, considering the present circumstances? I prefer the later. No argument can convince me to sway my opinion, well almost, on the condition that no mercenary judges were involved..................................lol!

It would appear that your idea would not work in The Gambia, not because it is not a good one but because of other social and political facets that exist in The Gambia of today, has what you have read in reply to your initial posting made you modify your original thoughts on this?

Uncle Janko, I just meant to elaborate on the recent fantasies that the IEC might push for registration and voting of Gambian Diaspora. The Guineans all over the world voted in their recent elections....

It is a fantasy for Gambians and Jammeh will never allow that to happen.

Thanks

Uncle Janko,
'Peul Bu teetey rekk neh KAW" Tell the Man that It is not Jammeh resposibility to allow Gambians to Vote Overseas or abroad. Not his responsibility today or tommorow and he has absolutely no control over that.......................................Peace

Kitab, you're just being stubborn. The troubles of our justice system has nothing to do with the way trials are conducted.

Jury trials will be inherently difficult to conduct in jollof. For example, culturally, what the average Gambian considers "justice," significantly differs from what is constitutionally acceptable. A considerable portion of our people also believe that applying "western" laws is equivalent to playing god and trespassing on divine domain.

Furthermore, some difficult village folks like Moe do not, or sometimes, do not want to understand simple English. Hence, important aspects of the judge's instructions could be lost in translation, which could lead to a mistrials and a backlog of cases. Shady people like my uncle could also easily accept kolanuts in exchange for favorable verdicts... i know this coz he frequently diverts family money to his private use, then yells out the names of all the heavenly to plea his innocence!

What Gambia needs is; an independent judiciary, a bar which stands its ground, and competently trained legal practitioners. Some of those loud mouths are often poorly trained at "life experience" correspondence learning schools and Podunk universities!

You're in for a big surprise... there are more "Gambians" in Southern Senegal than the rest of the world combined!

Prince you summed it all up and I won't even waste my time at this point. They all lack training and it's even worse with the attorney's that could barely pass their Bar exams practicing law privately in Gambia.(no names) Tell you the truth I feel sorry for most of the Accused. In my opinion they will never have a chance to a fair Trial, not when you are better off using Villager Moe as your legal expert...................................................Peace

My catch phrase is "lesser evil", and you (plural), just can't wiggle yourselves from the fact, that is, mercenary vs. peers. Be true, guys or girls, to my argument. Amything else is insignificant, and just burying your heads in the sand, period...................lol!
You've already doomed "trial by ones's peers evil. I repeat, which is the lesser evil?!?!?!

BTW, you (plural) would have choosen a jury of your peers to sit, (may God forbid!!!) and determine your fate in a dubious trial. I would've..........................................lol!

If you Keep talking like this, no more hatred , jealousy, accusations and all the rhetoric out there. Soon you will be crowned Grand Mansa Prince. Dude am tired of being one of the few people that like to tell the Truth or address issues without bias. I don't blame them though, 16 years of "Duul Kesseh" will turn a man into a habitual liar. Kinda like "Jaaf" or "Chorka", no matter how many times you shave, it's bound to grow back. The theme of this Bantaba is "Baye leenn Fenn" so we can discuss the future of our nation peacefully and in a mature fashion or everyday I will remind you how worthless and and hopeless yaou all are. I hope you are listening to what I am saying Chinese Shoes. If there is a problem and you don't know how and what please ask Demba, Lamarana and Galleh Galleh don't know a god damn thing you can bet on that.. "Waa Dehgi ngen hamoulenn Tuss".

OKay one more time no more backbiting, slander, jealousy, hate, snitching, and ruining the Image of the Gambia and we can all discuss this otherwise I got my cane, yes I got a cane and some will get their asses whipped either way, especially Demba the robot. You will not organize a goddamn thing around here Demba "IDA SUKA" just keep that in Mind. Everyone is busy defending their words nowadays, we hate chinese movies or Indian Movies. take your chairman title to the dumpster we hire the chairmen and presidents The next time I hear you say something about Daba Marenah or Korro Ceesay you will tell us what happened to them Demba. You fools have no shame whatsoever, All the way from Niumi to I know what happened to Daba Marenah and Korro Ceesay and who was involved. This goes out to all you Gorr Gegaines out there, what happened to them my friends?.BTW Demba You cannot vote in two countries the Guinea elections is already over forget about it....................................................Peace

My advice to your Sista O., Moe, is not to "negotiate" that guitar with a AK47.
