Anna I guess it brings us back to "beauty and brains" again, doesn't it? Or is it "beauty and the beast"?

I find it amusing for someone to eb tried for "alianation of affection". What legal junk is that. It takes two to tango. No one alienats any one. If your madam likes, then she will not leave you. The fact that she became "alianated", says volume.

You are probably right Kons. "Alienation of affection" as a cause of action is controversial, and some states in the U.S. have abolished it. However, the states that uphold it do recognize the huge societal interest in marriage as an institution that needs to be protected. Of course spouses are free to get a divorce (in fact there are "no fault" divorce laws in the U.S. where you can get a divorce for no reason at all), but until you do so you may not be free to run around with any Tom,Dick, and Harry.
"Alienation of affection" is a civil cause of action but it is similar to the "heat of the passion" doctrine which is a criminal cause of action (actually a defense) applicable in many states and federal courts in the U.S. According to this doctrine, if a spouse finds his/her partner having an affair with another and kills him/her or both, that crime is immediately reduced from murder to manslaughter with a lesser punishment.
I think what is happening here is that the society's vested interest in strong families and domestic peace and tranquility is being protected. Otherwise the little guys like Marong shall always be swallowed by the bigger fishes like Hon. Touray. Perhaps the old adage that "no man shall put asunder what God has put together" is instructive here.
