| i await brother kay's scientific lectures, you never know, he may be able to convert few of us. there is a village in Wuli were the residents still drink their afternoon mager dolo, they still live as nyanchos .the majority of the villagers are with walli manneh and sanneh surname. can't just remember the name of the village. it is close to sutukoba. may be kondorong could remember the name. people have a choice. live a life devoid of a God and religion or live according a religion. when some try to make it unnecessary for others to live according to a faith they are comfortable with then, wahala de-ensue. africanism or blackism will not affect any body's adherance to islam, christianity or animism. |

Santafara, I did not know I was lecturing. My goal is not to "convert" (your own word) anyone. I do not have anything to convert anyone to. But I assume you are flattering me again. I agree that people should live their lives in a way that gives them comfort and happiness insofar as that does not infringe on others' comfort and happiness. Religion is a great source of comfort and happiness (peace of mind) for many people around the world. But the fact is that there is more to human nature than pure rationality... I look forward to Madiss and Kondorong's response to my earlier question... |

London newspapers; Are The Germans closing in on lost Ark of the Covenant?
i) Timesonline newspaper reports http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/europe/article3919430.ece
ii) Extracts from another London Newspaper (London lite) reports:- "CLUES to the mystery of the Ark of the Covenant - Judaism's most precious treasue - have been discpvered in Ethiopia. Researchers say they have found the remains of the palace of the Queen of Sheba, containing an altar that may have held the Ark - a chest containing the stone tablets on which the Ten Commandments were etched. Its reputation as a source of great power was used to dramatic effect in the film Raiders Of The Lost Ark, as Indiana Jones battled the Nazis. In reality, the dig is being carried out by German archealogists who believe the Queen of Sheba brought the Ark from Jerusalem to Ethiopia in the 10th century BC. But it disappeared in about 586BC."

iv) Religion (The Historical Jesus!) & Politics of ISRAEL (DAVID BEN-GURION from Israpundit under http://www.israpundit.com/2006/?page_id=1746
DAVID BEN-GURION “No Jew is at liberty to surrender the right of the Jewish Nation and the Land of Israel to exist. No Jewish body is sanctioned to do so. No Jew alive today has the authority to yield any piece of land whatsoever. This right is preserved by the Jewish people throughout the generations and cannot be forfeited under any circumstance. Even if at some given time there will be those who declare that they are relinquishing this right, they have neither the power nor the jurisdiction to negate it for future generations to come. The Jewish Nation is neither obligated by nor responsible for any waiver such as this. Our right to this land, in its entirety, is steadfast inalienable and eternal. And until the coming of the Great Redemption, we shall never yield this historic right.”

Kay,
As promised i present a few of scientific references found in the Holy Quran. 1 Surah 25 Al Furqan Verse 53 " And it is He who has let free the two seas(water bodies), one palaltable and sweet, and the other salt and bitter, and He has set a barrier and a complete partition between them"
One need not look far to see this. In The Gambia going towards Barra Point, the Atlantic meets the River Gambia. These two water bodies never invade the each other.
On the North African coast, where the Mediterrean and the Atlantic meet , this is also very distinct.
2- Surah 36 Yasin Verses 38-41
" And the sun runs on its fixed course for a term(appointed). That is the Decree of the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing."
"And the moon, We have measured for it mansions (to traverse) till it returns like the old dried curved date stalk."
" It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day. They all float, each in an orbit."
The above verses deal with the solar system.
3- Surah 16 An-Nahl verse 3 " He has created man from(Nutfah) (mixed drops of male and female sexual discharge), then behold, this same (man) becomes an open opponent"
Surah 86 At-tariq verses 4-7 "No human soul but hath a guardian over it. So let man consider from what he is created. He is created from a gushing fluid That issued from between the loins and ribs."
The above two extracts make reference to some parts of the human reproductive system.
The above are only a few of the scientific refs in the Noble Quran. I have tried to explain briefly in my way. If there are errors they are entirely mine.
Another learned brother has done brilliant research into the area and this is his link below. http://www.quran-miracle.com/HumanBody/English/HumanBodyEng.htm

Thanks Madiba. You have done a great job. However, your first example is entirely wrong. The atlantic ocean mixes with the river Gambia. That is why we have salt intrusion affecting rice cultivation up river. You can ask the Gambian Agriculturalists. The rest of what you have outlined, especially about the sun, moon, etc. are very interesting, but they are by and large the same things the ancient Greeks, and even the Ptolemaic era Egyptians (well before the Islamic revealations) have understood and described. Furthermore, modern astrophysicists understand and determined that the stars (including the moon and the earth do not orbit on a fixed path. If you understand the concept of the so-called "Big Bang" theory, you will appreciate that the universe is expanding. The moon used to be closer to the earth (when it was young) than it is today. These concepts you have espoused, appears to be the collection of human knowledge existing at that time. They are ineteresting, and are based on sound observations at the time...,but are they really accurate today? Thanks Madiss. Now let's wait for Konds. |

Kay, tanx too.
However i await the explanation of those experts in upland farming who will autheticate or debunk ur claims. I still do stand by what i explained. This is because i have seen people who have attempted and it never worked. If you regularly crossed Banjul-Barra (i guess u are Nuiminka), you will notice few miles from Banjul wharf, the white River Gambia flowing side by side with the Blue Atlantic. This is same coming from Southern Spain towards to the africa, on the North African coast. The Mediterrean flows side by side with the Atlantic. What MAY have led to the Salt intrusion in up-country is probably humans diverting the natural way of either water bodies. When i say dnt mix , i guess i talking abt their natural habitat.
Do you have proof of the claims that the above mentioned have been chronicled by ancient civilizations?
Kay, my competence in the pure science is limited hence the reason i provided the link of a modern scientist who aptly appreciated both worlds. Once again here is the link to Dr.Zaid page. He has many lecture slides on different aspect of science and technology. From Mechanical engineering to cosmology.

I can say it is wrong because it is wrong. Madiba's theory that "salt water does not mix with fresh water" is wrong. I am glad that he himself has stated that afterall he doesn't know these things very well. It is interesting that does who reject science rely on scientific findings to try to makie their own anti-scientific cases. Please see the link Madiba provided above. If you Kobo know more "discoveries", could you tell us that? You want me to "teach" you? You must be kidding... But if Madiss needs my detail explanation of why salt water intrudes into (mixes with) fresh water, I will definitely provide him with one... I appreciate Madiba's well-intentioned contributions. This guy is a pragmatic individual, unlike the rhetorical idiologues like Kobo, Mansa, and others... . |

Kayjatta please take it easy and lets addressed it calmly. You are wrong to literally take it to know its meanings IN YOUR OWN TERMS. Now lets be LOGICAL & PHILOSOPHICAL on that SURA? This is not about LABORATORY SCIENTIFIC PROOFS BUT POWERFUL FORCES ON WONDERS OF NATURE.
1 Surah 25 Al Furqan Verse 53 " And it is He who has let free the two seas(water bodies), one palatable and sweet, and the other salt and bitter, and He has set a barrier and a complete partition between them"
The MASTER OF UNIVERSE, WHO CREATED YOU, UNIVERSE, GALAXY, DESIGN ORBITER & ALL NATURAL OCURRENCES e.g Reproduction, photosynthesis, hybernation, rains, sunlight, moonlight, etc etc ; is the ONE WHO SET A BARRIER & A COMPLETE PARTITION BETWEEN THEM.
That sura literal interpretation serves its purpose of REMINIDING US ON MIGHT OF ALLAH - ONENESS OF GOD. You only get GIST OF KNOWLEDGE FROM QU'RAN!
These wonders are the beginning of HYPOTHESIS, THEORIES, RESEARCH, EXPLORE KNOWLEDGE & FURTHER SCIENTIFIC DEVELOPMENT FOR MANKINDS ADVANCEMENT.
Courtesy of wikepedia, more on Qu'ran and Science under http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qur%27an_and_science
Finally LOGIC, SCIENCE, PHILOSOPHY, ASTROLOGY etc existed before COMPILATION OF QU'RAN!

Kay, First of all congrats to u and ur wife for the birth of ur baby girl.
Back to our discussion: I think all this while it didnt occur to us that, that only place the Atlantic 'sees' with the River Gambia is at the mouth of the River Gambia i.e Capepoint, Barra end. The salt intrusion is in deed cause by the Atlantic. BUt it is not due to the fact that the two waters had merged. It is a question of the Atlantic flowing into where the River Gambia was , but has tried up due to seasonal changes.
The River Gambia The Gambia owes its name and existence to the Gambia River. European interest in the river as a major access and trading route into interior Africa led to the carving of the Gambia as an enclave in French West Africa. With its source in the Futa Jalon Highlands in Guinea, the river runs east to west for nearly 1000 miles through Republic of Guinea, Senegal and the Gambia. The total area of the River Gambia and its tributaries, locally called Bolon in Mandinka is 947 sq km. The river is only a couple of hundred meters wide at its narrowest point within the Gambia and nearly to 16 kilometers at the mouth near Cape Point. On entering the Gambia the River meanders for almost two-thirds of its 470 km course with large expanse of valley floodplains on both banks. Along the last 150 km towards the mouth, mangrove forests border the river.
Ecological studies conducted in 1980s identified five ecological zones along the Gambia River, namely lower estuary, upper estuary, lower freshwater river, upper freshwater and headwaters (Moll and Dorr 1985). However, only three, the lower estuary, upper estuary and the lower freshwater river lie within Gambia’s borders.
The lower estuary is the wide and relatively shallow part of the river from the Atlantic Ocean to 120 km upstream. This zone is primarily an extension of and heavily influenced by coastal marine waters of the Atlantic Ocean. In the lower estuary, the river is funnel-shaped with the river slow flowing, allowing tidal waves to mover into the lower reaches of the river (Moll and Dorr 1985. The River is up to 15 km wide and relatively shallow with the main channel some 3.5km wide and up to 12 meters deep running in the middle. On either side of the river are extensive tidal mud flats up to 2 km wide. The banks of the lower estuary are covered with mangrove forests extending up to 10 km from the river. The marine characteristics and large amount of mangrove detritus make the lower estuary valuable breeding and nursery ground for a large number of marine fish species.
The upper estuary extends from 120km to 240km upstream. Although similar to the lower estuary both in terms of both containing brackish water and bordering mangrove forests, the upper estuary differ from the lower in many ways. Seasonal flooding influences water quality and thus the fauna and flora in this zone. The main channel of the river in this zone though only 500 m wide at Elephant Island is nearly 18 m deep. Extensive luxuriant mangrove forests extend up to 3 km away from the river along Bolons. Beyond the mangroves are seasonal floodplains. Annual floods produce significant changes in the physical and chemical conditions in this zone. During the rainy season floodwaters change the zone to freshwater the water and with it change in fish species from marine to freshwater species. The brackish waters also allow rice cultivation. During the dry season or drought years, saltwater influx from the Atlantic Ocean changes the zone into saltwater environment. Overall species diversity is lower in this zone than the lower estuary.
The lower freshwater river extends from around Kuntaur, 240 km to the Gambia’s eastern border. The water in this zone freshwater all year around. Fish species diversity is much lower than the estuary zones with bottom-feeding catfish species the most dominant. The freshwater swamps or Banto Faros along this portion of the river are the main rice producing areas of the Gambia. Since early 1960s several irrigated rice development projects have been implemented in the area to increase self-sufficiency in rice, the staple food of the Gambia. The upper freshwater zone of River Gambia extends beyond the Gambia. Source: Columbia University
The Mediterranean and the Atlantic
The Mediterranean is a sea of the Atlantic Ocean almost completely enclosed by land: on the north by Europe, on the south by Africa, and on the east by Asia. It covers an approximate area of 2.5 million km˛ (965,000 sq mi), but its connection to the Atlantic (the Strait of Gibraltar) is only 14 km (9 mi) wide. In oceanography, it is sometimes called the Eurafrican Mediterranean Sea or the European Mediterranean Sea to distinguish it from mediterranean seas elsewhere. Being nearly landlocked affects the Mediterranean Sea's properties; for instance, tides are very limited as a result of the narrow connection with the Atlantic Ocean. The Mediterranean is characterized and immediately recognized by its deep blue color.Evaporation greatly exceeds precipitation and river runoff in the Mediterranean, a fact that is central to the water circulation within the basin. Evaporation is especially high in its eastern half, causing the water level to decrease and salinity to increase eastward. This pressure gradient pushes relatively cool, low-salinity water from the Atlantic across the basin; it warms and becomes saltier as it travels east, then sinks in the region of the Levant and circulates westward, to spill over the Strait of Gibraltar. Thus, seawater flow is eastward in the Strait's surface waters, and westward below; once in the Atlantic, this chemically-distinct "Mediterranean Intermediate Water" can persist thousands of kilometers away from its source. Thanks Madiss, you are absolutely right that salt water intrusion is largely caused by the low water level of the river Gambia for example. The reason salt water is kept from intruding into the fresh water of the river, in the natural state, is because the direction of movement of water is from the river into the ocean/sea. So if the river water fall perenially, then the salty sea water pushes into the freshwater thereby causing an intrusion. However, if you still look at the zone of dispersion, where the two waters meet, you will still sea where salt water and fresh water mix. Furthermore, for prectical purposes, salt water and fresh water do actually mix, if you want to. But my realy point here is that this are human observations dated well into time, and not as such a revealation as one might think... |

KAY
Thanks for keeping the discussion on. I am really enjoying every bit of it. However, looking at ur last thread i have decided dissect it to expose some errors on ur part.
KAY"But my realy point here is that this are human observations dated well into time, and not as such a revealation as one might think..." Can you provide the bantaba the proof of these documentations and these proofs MUST predate Islam or the Revelation of the Holy Quran. For example did the man in the gambia then know that NOT only two different waters DNT Mix in The Gambia, but Mediterrean and Atlantic too Never, becos All-Mighty Allah willed it to be so.
Kay, you see, call him Allah, God, Jehovah or watever there is a supreme bieng that has created these things. These water bodies like the rest of creation MUST obey the laws of nature. Science has done a lot of good, but if science was in ENTIRE control or could have had ENTIRE control, then there would be NO MORE QUAKES, FLOODS ETC. Islam is never against learning/knowledge. The very first verses that were revealed to prophet Muhammad SAW, are Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, (1) Createth man from a clot. (2) Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, (3) Who teacheth by the pen, (4) Teacheth man that which he knew not.Muslims are beseech to seek knowledge and if need be go to China. China was used becuase at the time it was deemed a very far place.
KAY"Furthermore, for prectical purposes, salt water and fresh water do actually mix, if you want to." Not in their natural state. The direction as you stated in the flow of the river or sea and the winds are all under the command of Allah.
KAY"where the two waters meet, you will still sea where salt water and fresh water mix." Kay, NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS |
