This is why we should not have a standing army |

Hi fellas, My appology to the Alkalo and the entire Bantaba for my absense.Am in Zimbabwe on a very important mission(just for a week) and Hoping to be back soon. Anyway as to the foiled coup in Banjul,I learnt that so many top officials were arrested includding the director of the notorious NIA,Army spokesman and former director of imigration amongst others. I was about to see the Gambia's attache here in Harrare but I was lucky to get contact through to Banjul. The situation is said to be calm and some people didnot infact know whether there was an attempted coup in the first place. Some even had it that Jammeh made those plans to lay claims to his bid for a third term in power grip on the mantle of leadership so that insecurity could be his agenda on presidential campaigns as to some the regime had nothing to tell the people as they had failed in all their promises, and for that some believed had ordered major Peter Singhateh to carryout the operation while he was away in Mauritania.Infact the Director general of His notorious NIA was with him when the alledged coup attempt was made.He was arrested when he arrived with the president at the air port together with staff sergent A.Bah I cannot verify my story as I am in Africa and a little bit busy. But as I was sick to get back to my second home ...Bantaba,I decide to roam the city to look for an internet cafe to share with my fellow Bantaba members. But Am Happy Bantaba is the most enlightened forum for Gambians both at home and abroad. Thanks everyone Greetings from Africa Mankajang Janyanfara |

that is possible. jammeh is borderline evil. does anyone know what Jammeh was doing before the presidency. is he educated (he certainly did not earn that doctrate), was he rich before the presidency. cause i have a theory that when poor people get power and money, since they're not used to it, they can go crazy from it. |

It is indeed a sad day for Africa and Democracy.People are thinking of their daily bread if there is another coup, more jobs will be lost and if the tourism is affected,God knows what hardship that will bring to the thousands that benefit from tourism one way or the other. My heart goes to the poor people who toil day and night 4 a living. God bless the Gambia and no more coups please. If we want Jammeh out, lets show him we are democratic hungry and get him out through the ballot. We can do it.I share the same block with one Kenyan who said to me when they got tired of Arab Moi, they joined hands to get rid of him despite their difference in agendas. They all had a common foe..Moi. The same with Jammeh. |

What evil one does, will be exposed some day. Fortunately for us we are awake and eyes wide open as the drama unfolds. We will all be living witnesses to the evil this gang of lunatics are perpetrating.
It disgust me to see the empowered surpressing those that empower them. I believe the previledged should sympathise with the underpreviledged, in that way injustice will disappear from the face of this planet. I have a friend of mine who used to tell me that, if we cannot bring happiness to one another then there is no reason for us living.
We all should try to have good hearts towards each other. |

Imagine that Jammeh would not be re-elected. What would his future be like in the Gambia? Would it be possible for him to stay in the country? |

Whenever possible, he should be tried in court for the numerous human right abuses that have taken place in his tenure in office. The November 11 alledge foiled coup should be throughly investigated and properly dealt with.
No witch hunting should be allowed against anybody even against jammeh himself. But everything should be properly dealt with including massacres of the students, Deday's case, Coro Ceesay, the central bank scaldals just to name a few. If found guilty, he should be punished.
He should also be disqualified from taking part in Gambian politics forever. |

May be we should make him president for life just like Bukassa (cough cough). I doubt if yaya will stay in the gambia when he looses elections. It might be very expensive to provide security for him |

He is, Whether we know his intention or not his people(those who think without him they are nothing) will always advocate for his presidency for life so that they can keep smiling as they plung deep into the coffers to take home. PLEASE HONESTLY THIS IS A TRUE STORY I remember a friend of mine(name widtheld) name his son after one of Junkung's cousins(name widtheld). One day he took the boy who is now about 8years old to see his namesake.According to him...When they arrived, the little boy's nameshake was in his room counting a CARTON FULL OF MORNEY.As they entered, the bigman asked them to sitdown. He then called the little boy tpo come to him.As the boy reached him,he asked the boy what he want and the boy said shoes. Then he told the boy to take morney from the CARTON.The boy took one packet and the big man asked whether that was all the boy want?and the boy said yes. Then he said to this friend Boy my nameshake is not like me. The friend latter left with few thousand himself for his wife.He latter as he was going home thought when they were all strugling and had nothing, now this man few yearsof Junkung's leadership, can play with morney as if it was paper. He felt angry with his son why he (the little boy) didnot take five packets as the morney is state morney and the big =man is using as his own. The man is now fired by Jammeh but is still very rich. Mankajang Janyanfara |

Oh Gambia, This small country that has enough millioniers to feed even the unborn babies much more the living people, yet it is amongst the porest in the world.Sad isn,t it? For a former church mouse to say his nameshake is not like him is wicked.I can't immagine what he meant by that, was he expecting a blameless child to be thought corruption.Where are we heading. Does any one know a headless human walking?Thats the Gambia. No wonder we are heading head long with so many coups and killing and arreats with severe totures and hatreds Mankajang Janyanfara. |

The Gambia is a very peace loving nation and if these soldiers wants to change that, god will surely purnish them. Jammeh, even though is very naive with his leadership, is an elected president and any attempt to oust him with a gun will not represent the will of the people. Even if we want him out, we should also excercise restraint and maintain the rule of law and try it at the ballot box. The quality of our peace lovingness is high and we do not want any more soldiers to come with another transitional period in which we will go over the entire democratic process again. It was enough with Jammeh and no more soldiers pls. So personally if this is true, I wish they all get caught and purnished to the full lenght of the law. |
It is the mark of intelligence to entertain an idea without accepting it. |
