Did anyone follow announcement over Gambia Radio and Television on the news of the Taiwanese Ambassador in Gambia giving a donation of $US 300,000.00 (Three Hundred Thousand US Dollars) towards establishing a Science and Mathematics Academy in Kanilai?

This is Yamasoukorro?

Guess what. Gambia voted against the admission of China into the UN but today Gambia is lobbying for Taiwan to be a member. History only repeats itself but with a difference.

WAW BROTHERMAN, was that a mistake or you are just facing reality that the man is development oriented? You see, even you can get carried away by the man wish for the Gambia.

It is the mark of intelligence to entertain an idea without accepting it.

Was there a study that determined Kanilai is the most suitable location with the best strategic option of situating such academy? Jammeh is simply exposing another of his usual bias and way of showing Gambians he will turn Kanilai into Yamousukoro (Kondorong) This is not a fair way to distribute national cake. Kanilai is certainly not the national choice. Something wrong with this one too. Jammeh taking Gambians for another rough ride. What is wrong with creating a faculty of science and mathematics at Gambia University (if need be) rather than going all the way to seek another attention for Kanilai on top of all the women wrestling, night drumming, youth parades, Futampaff etc? Done before and after being president would have made Jammeh a true village hero. This one is open to curious scrutiny.

Everybody was blaming Jawara for not investing anything in his home town, now that Jammeh is investing in his home town and he is being blamed. What do we want, do we know???

What we want is an equitable distribution of national wealth. Its that simple. In Yoro Bawol, what we ask for is running water. Thats not a big thing to ask for if the kombos' can get Sheraton. We just want to make sure our cattle have water especially during the dry season.

It costs less than one hummer

To me it makes sense that any investment in further education goes to the university, They will be accountable for how the money is spent and the students results.
Sister Omega the only thing that will stop the african brain drain isnot education, but good employment, good salaries and other freedoms we take for granted.

EG If a Gambian is trained to be a doctor he or she has every right to a high standard of living, plus further professional development plus freedom of movement for leisure activities. (ie visa to visit other countries). If Gambia cant provide that they will move to countries that can.

I had originally thought that because of the Muslim faith people who were trained might stay put for the greater good. But in Gambia people dont seemed bound by that. They would happily go abroad to provide for their own family without a second thought for the 'greater good'.

Some uk doctors are guilty of the same, going to USA or Australia, but the majority stay in the Uk and pay back their training by treating people and training future doctors.
