Panderry Mbai has been practicing the worst kind of tabloid journalism for quite sometime now. He has in the process publish inuendo and malign the character of innocent Gambians all in the name of journalism. He will publish any junk sent to his email box as breaking news without checking on the veracity of the allegation made in these hit pieces.
Repute Gambian journalist have resist to take him on to stop what in essence is a ******ization of their noble profession. Many have happily granted him interview, legitimizing his brand in the process. This is a travesty. Therefore I have taken it upon myself to fact check Nderry Mbai's stories and hold his feet to fire.
I am not a journalist. I am a citizen practicing what Nderry Mbai has been abusing: free speech. Someone need to give him a taste of his own medication. Publish innuendo and half truths about him and his family and see how he likes it.
There is nothing wrong with holding our elected representatives accountable. I will hasten to say that is in fact noble. However what Nderry has been doing is borderline libelious in most cases. I know the his supporters will point to the fact that he hasn't been sued yet. To which I say his day is coming.
With free speech comes great responsibility. Nderry Mbai loves the former, but is not so fun of the later. Here is to the start of keeping him honest.
This is the maiden post made at Banjul Confidential:

It looks like that this site is all on Freedom articles. Personally I am not in any position to confirm or deny anything written.
For me, there are three types of truths: My TRUTH, YOUR TRUTH AND THE TRUTH. I have visited jail and never found anyone who said he was guilty as charged. Every one was innocent.
Like Martin Luther said "... let freedom ring...." so will I conclude that let free speech ring from the hills of Yorobawol to the low lands and marshy lands of Kartong, let free speech ring, from the rice field of Jahally Pacharr to the mangrove swamps of Banjul let free speech ring".
I think Gambia is now witnessing what might be an equivalent of cultural renaissance in Europe with the rise in debates and challenging the status quo. Let free speech ring from YORO YAA to the shores of DAANDEH MAYO, LET FREE SPEECH RING FROM CHAAKU BANTANTANG TO KANILAI, LET FREE SPEECH RING FROM BINTANG KARANAI TO DOBONG KUNDA LET FREE SPEECH RING. We have never before been so active in the issues that affect our lives since the creation of the country of Gambia except for once at the Battle of Sakandi.
Free speech is an integral part of development and the fact that God gave us only one mouth, means we must jealously guard it and speak when we could because there is no spare mouth incase this one is sealed and the opportunity will have passed without leaving your footprints in the sands of time. Generations later would therefore wonder if we had a mouth or if we did ever speak at all.

I am just disturbed by your name. It looks like being a Gambian patriot is to muzzle others from speaking and there is only one truth: your truth and that its your way or the highway.
Have you been affected by the articles published that you have taken upon yourself to "… publish innuendo and half truths about him and his family and see how he likes it…." if I may borrow your own statements.
I think what you should have done is publish the truth and nothing but the truth. Whilst I do not want to race to the high morale ground, I know that two wrongs don’t make a right if we are to believe that only half truth and innuendos are published.
In any case I will read your blog and all blogs because I WANT TO BE ABLE TO MAKE AN INFORMED DECISION WHICH CAN ONLY BE REACHED BY OPENING UP TO ALL VIEWS IRRRESPECTIVE OF WHAT THEY SAY. ONCE AGAIN WELCOME AND BE REST ASSURED THAT I WOULD READ ALL YOUR POSTINGS FROM NOW ON ALONG WITH ALL OTHERS OUT THERE WITH AN OPEN MIND.
However, since you have decided to “… keep him honest” if I may quote you, I hope you are way above board. Like Jesus said “.. he that had not sinneth, cast the first stone..”. Please remember that there are three truths: my truth, your truth and the truth.
I am however puzzled that Bantaba is chosen to announce this new blog. I am flattered that this forum is honored this way. I had never for once thought that the forum has an impact on anyone.
By the way have you been lately watching Anderson Cooper 360 on CNN? “Keeping them Honest” is a trademark of that broadcast and hope there is no trademark infringement here. |

Kondorong, I think Gambianpatriot made his point clear. He is going to follow articles written in the freedom newspaper and point out inaccuracies. Personally I think this is a good thing. You are right about the portion where he offered to publish stuff about Pa nderry. Two wrongs don't make a right...true that. So far all his writings are criticisms of what he perceived to be sloppiness in Pa Nderry's form of journalism. That is a wonderful thing if you ask me.
Many people squirm at some of the things published on freedom. If a concerned citizen took it upon himself to challenge his articles, I say more power to him. It will keep on focus.
With regards to CNN owing the trademark to "keeping them Honest", I don't see an infringements there. He chose "keeping Panderry Mbai honest". I think that is a clever way around it. Unless CNN has a trademark on that as well.
By the way his new take on Sam Sarr issue is thought provoking. It really poke holes in Pa Nderry's style of reporting. It is entitle Due diligence. I saw a different perspective reading that article.
Keep it coming Gambianpatriot. |

The "keeping them honest" was just meant to be humourous.
Because he belives its half truth publications, thats whs why i said let free speech ring. All are welcome to say what they have to say just that we dont want to be told who is right. That is an individual responsibility. To try to do that, is to deny us a fundamental part of free speech which is fredom to analyse. In dictatorial societies there is only one truth and that is their truth and that all roads lead to "Damascus".
His statement that he will "… publish innuendo and half truths about him and his family and see how he likes it…"clearly tells me that what ever he or she will be writing has one objective: to inflict as much damage on his personality as possible. Unfortunately Freedom is not the only blog there and picking on only one out of the rest speaks volumes.
I think i would take his articles with a pinch of salt just as i do with all others.
Thanks for your insight Bronx. Bye for now. I have no ther comment on this topic.
By the way, Bantaba is not on your site whilst others are although you chose to announce your site on Bantaba. Kobo needs free publicity like others. Like the Wollofs say: LOO BARR BUGA, LA MBOTA BUGA.[:D] |

On the contrary. I have no intention of muzzling anyone. I never said I have a lock on the truth. I don't know where you get that from. All I am trying to do with this venture is keep Panderry honest. We can't keep reading his "jotals", shaking our heads and staying mute. That is my motivation.
You got a point on the retaliation aspect. That was a tongue in cheek comment. You won't see me publishing baseless junk ala Nderry. I promise.
You were wondering why pick on Nderry out of all the others. Well that is obvious bro. Who else publish trash like Nderry does. Gotta keep him honest...deal? |

Hope to enjoy your blogs. " Seek ye knowledge even if it means travelling to China.." I take solace from giants like all those news oulets. Divergent views breed healthy minds which we need. Sorry if i stepped on your toes. I was just concerened.
Good luck to everyone.

Gambian Patriot,
I will advice you to advertise it with all the Gambian sites. However, my take on Kondorong is that he either underestimated the power and value of Bantaba, or he is blaming you for advertising it in this forum. This bantaba, like the G-post and G-L are the pioneer places that sprouted to all the other seedlings.
In Struggle, Yero (Dalton)
No Dalton1
I am happy for him to showcase his site here. I will not blame him for doing that. Afterall Bantaba in keeping with its name has no thoroughfare. Thats why a bantaba is not fenced.
I am just so suprised that Bantaba was chosen among many blogs. Honestly, i had always thought that Bantaba was like an "ATTAYA VOUS"
