It is not a blanket accusation that Jammeh is made culpable for the killings and many wrongs in Gambia of today. He is there providing the ENVIRONMENT (in the strict technical context) that permits everything like that to happen. Did you read what Bev referred to as the FEAR FACTOR. Because Jammeh is so dubious and so callous, the weapon he uses is fear of the most agressive form. What do we need a police state of Gambia for? Whose security other than Jammeh? The failure to take serious steps in bringing all the culprits of these crimes to justice spells clearly that Jammeh is happy that people get killed. That is the typical character of brutal leaders. People getting killed and nothing coming out of it breeds fear. Why will Jammeh promote the killers of innocent students soon after a report proved their involvement?

About Gambians not held at gun point during voting period!! Sister Omega, how much do you know about the voting process of Gambia? Again, you need reminding that Jammeh destroyed the entire ELECTORAL SYSTEM making it possible for him alone to win. Every minute of sound and image over Gambia's monopolistic state Radio and Televison sends no other information apart from the false greatness of Jammeh. Private radio stations either play music or carry out commercials to sustain their operations. For 365 days of the year, every day is day of political campaign to sell Jammeh. Tell me if two weeks of UNFAIR broadcast will do any good for those you call opposition? Let us have this bogus election episode lay to rest. It is day light and Gambians know clear difference between dust and sea breeze. Hold it Sister Omega. "Na poor we poor, we no craze wo."

Karamba,
I admire you, Santafara and most of the forum members for the simple reason that you have a good standard to debate. I was a member of Gambia L, but had to quit because of an appauling standard of debates. Too much faul language. That is the difference here. I hope we continue with the same spirit.

Right, Santa.

I would not go so far as to compare the NIA with mass murderers like the Haitian Tontons Macoutes, 'Papa Doc' Duvaliers militia. But intimidation, and this is what is done in Gambia, is not acceptable, particularly not in a country which calls itself democracy.

Ladies and gentlemen,

I think my dear sister is so much in love with his excellency that she some times over sight his short commings.
My sister though I always point out that we should respect the wishes of the Gambian people and accept their verdict for that is what every democratic minded person should do. but but but,Our President sometimes goes beyond the bounds. He sometimes does not act head of state but negus negast.
My sister omega Jammeh has his hand in every thing, business or otherwise. This is a fact and the proves are on the walls all over the Gambia.Police stations,Prison gates, banks Gamtals,Army camps,Airport, even inside your family home and under your bed.Look sister, I respect the president but that is no warrant to support him even when he is wrong that I belief is hypocricy and I am not one.You remember on his alledged cure of AIDS?Based onthe narrations of those who claimed to have been cured by him,I supported him
.You know, don't just criticise just because you hate someone even if he is doing good but don't also promote someone because you love him even if he is harming your neighbour.
This time round Karamba is right and we should all admit it as a fact. Our man doesnot sometimes see himself as been voted by people he see himself as I cannot discribe.
On his involvement in business, yes yes yes he is in every business section.Sister do you know people working at the president's farm as paid by you and I?Please support but criticise when where its right.
I was accused of being a Jammeh agent by many contributors at Bantaba but I never care what others think of me as long as I feel what am doing is right.I love criticism for it teaches anyone to ammend your self.My sister there is a long way to go for our leader to improve on democracy.Infrastructural development is good but human development is best.
Good day
peace

Janyanfara,

You have very fair and stable mindset. That is quite positive on your side of the balance. There are more reasons to query Jammeh than any reasons to bear the pain of his wrong doings. He has to be fair with Gambians. This twisting and turning around will not do good. Gambians are growing more and more bitter and impatient about Jammeh's excesses. This is too much. The most reasonable of his supporters have to swallow the bitter pill of disappointment. We are talking about a country and this fellow grips the nation as a child's bunch of toys. If it is proven that Jammeh is not seasoned enough for the job of president, he should resign to the task of herbal man. There are good number of very able persons whose persuasion is far from selfish political vanity. Jammeh out today and see the good flow of competent Gambians ready to repair his 13 years damage for a better nation. In this manner of Jammeh posing as everything, nothing works in Gambia. He wants us to see his little face as the River Gambia and the two banks or lot more. If Jammeh is consumed in error, not all of us are, and that is good reason to accept we don't let him escape with error. He either gets to the best standard of good practice or the standard of good practice is kept without him. Jammeh believes that even if he dies today, his spirit will govern Gambians. He needs to rethink.

Also there is something which still recks of bigotry to me about Jammeh being portrayed as proverbial scapegoat. Is it because he is a Jola? Could it be that his cast with in the cast system of the first Repubic still sticks in the crawl of those who think that a person from a traditionally lower cast is ruling over them when he should be their watchman? Those days are over! Jammeh is the watchman of the nation bringing Gambia kicking and screaming into the 21st Century.

Sister Omega, while I appreciate your interest in Gambian affairs and some of your remarks on Gambian Politics. I think the above statement is absolutely irresponsible in every respect, and it is appalling that it came you.

There was no cast system in the Gambia of which the Jolas were sitting on the bottom ladder. In fact 'jola' is not a cast. It is a tribe. No system operated in the Gambia through which Jolas were alienated. I have lived in the immediate vicinity of the posh areas of the Gambia [fajara, pipeline, capepoint, kanifing etc] for the whole of my teenage life, and believe me or not, most of the people who were doing 'watchman' jobs were mainly displaced casamance and Guinea Bissau jolas. The few Gambian Jolas who were doing it are those who either lack the education and skills or do not want to stay on the rural farms and till that soil to earn a decent living just like my own father had always done. That was a choice for them and they were clearly entitled to it. To portray that as if they were persecuted in a way is a very silly and dangerous Rwanda style tribal hatred insinuation which we cannot afford to condone in a tiny and multi-tribal nation like the Gambia. It is totally absurd, a complete madness and an absolute grotesque.

I know few Jolas who had been in privilege positions during the old era, and that was because they are educated and well skilled. We had Late Kama Badjie as Minister, Dembo Badjie, permanant secretary, there was one Gibba [ I can't remember his first name] who was a Director at Gambia Airways, my own two cousins who happen to be jolas and who are now very close to the presidency through their father, were middle grade public servants at Gamtel. One Abdoulie [Lie] Badjie was also a senior Customs officer. I also know two semi-illiterate jola police officers [Findi Jatta and Kumba Jatta] who were ranked inspector and Assistant Suprintendant respectively in the police force. One of them was infact at one time a Station officer somewhere in the North Bank Division.

This insinuation is an APRC manufactured political weapon and recently ceased on by NADD that has being deployed to steer-up 'Mandinkaphobia' in the country. What needs to be recognized by every sober minded Gambian and well wisher is this; this insinuation is too dangerous for our national security and a grave threat to the continuing and peaceful Co-existence of the different tribes in the Gambia. We certainly do not want to witness a Rwandan type tribal killings in the Gambia. We are too small for that. That is why it is important that we don't allow our political differences to translate into tribal hatred.

I seriously wish you don't believe in this nonsense, sister omega.

Cheers

Sister Omega is one of the Wailing Wailers OF Jammeh's musical drama of Gambia. Here is a president who is so inundated with POSITION that he craves for a DEMI-GOD influence over everything and everybody. What Sister Omega is writing reads like what the July 22, Green Boys, and every Jammeh fanatic embrace as show of Patriotism. To keep on surfacing the argument that Jammeh has another few- year mandate is one dull song never to fall on good ears. So far, 13 years is gone. What remains is nothing to go easy for Jammeh. If it takes just one stubborn real person that is still enough to take on Jammeh. In a sad twist of things for Jammeh, his haters are growing daily among them those who dine with him. Sister, lay your arms to rest. The 13 years nightmare is no longer going fine. Day break is certain and Gambians know what it takes to be sanctioned by a tyrant. Sorry you may not be happy to realise how serious Gambians are taking up issues with Jammeh. Watch Jammeh closely and see if you think he is happy !!
