Brother Alhassan, it is difficult for me as someone living in Europe to find out what really happens. I also don't believe everything they say about Jammeh, and of course I am sceptical about the motives of some of his critics. I criticized the unfair tabloid style of certain online-magazines.

But I also criticize the political oppression in The Gambia. That there is NO freedom of press in Gambia is a proven fact, and only the very blind will deny it.

Did you see the NIA cars without registration numbers in the streets? Maybe not, but I saw them. I don't want to be more explicit.

Calm down Alhassan. There are better ways of boosting Sister Omega. Are you telling us that what the World Bank, EU, United Nations, World Health Organisation and many other professional reports on Jammeh's brutal misrule are false? Are you saying that in Jammeh's Gambia, students were not brutally massacred in cold blood? Deyda not killed, Koro Ceesay not burnt, Ousman Sillah not attempted on, soldiers not killed by overnight ambush, millions of Dalasi not syphooned by Jammeh to grow his riches, etc. Come on good man. There is what you call FAIR COMMENT. Your other point about some journalists not properly schooled !!! That is the most alarming statement. How much properly schooled is Jammeh? Yet you prefer him to misrule Gambians. !!! Reports by world bodies have to pass through competent scrutiny before publication. You have it very wrong to assume that these reports are influenced by Gambians who disagree with Jammeh. There is a practical difference between speculative sensational journalism and factual reporting on authentic verifiable events. Reports are reports whether produced by the least educated journalist or by the most seasoned professional person. What Jammeh is doing to Gambians is so well documented for any sound person to doubt. It is not about documentation so to put it. It is the fact of events. There are more unreported events about Jammeh that will shock some of his biased supporters once revealed. There is serious and undivided attention paid on Gambia and let nobody play fools about that.

Jangjang Gambia has been blessed by not having a gun culture. Jamaica was established on a gun culture just like the USA. I would suggest you read more about Pan Africanism then you would know what angle I'm coming from. It is obvious to me that your Jamaican hating attitude has more to do with the fact I have a different political viewpoint than yours. Whether you like it or not that's my perogative. When you try to analyse my culture remember I am African without apology, Jamaican by parentage and British born. So go chew on that one.

Santafara I agree tribalism is futile being proud of your cultural hertiage and celebrating cultural diversity is positive. When we try to authentic political correctness it is important that we rake out the weeds of bigotry. I agree with you that the prejudices surrounding between different ethnic groups in Gambia and Africans as a whole should be resigned to history, and that people are judged on their merit. This is also important for the humanity as a whole an ideal which still needs to be fulfilled.

Karamba you cited the World Bank, EU, United Nations, World Health Organisation and many other professional reports on Jammeh. Now can you share with us your sources so we can examine the documents and judge for ourselves that have unequviably name Jammeh for being personally responsible for the killings of the above mentioned.

Sister,
I agree with you to a point. That some journalist are put behind bars is known to all of us. I hope justice will prevail. How can you identify an NIA car? Do you know if the person works for them or not? When it comes to the cars without numbers, it can be anybody. It is not difficult to drive anunregistered car in the Gambia. I have experienced it, and when I was there now over the newyear as well. I saw people driving from the port and sometimes one week after. How they find their way I dont know. I always try to find out when I here romous from home. Sometimes I do call and ask , then I am told that the news is not known to people.
The fact that Jammeh has opponents is good in my opinion, because then he cant do anything he wants. He must know that all eyes are on him. He must dliver otherwise he is voted out. Somebody like him can even show up tomorrow. I belive as he watched his former boss, he must be awear of the sam fact.
Who does not want to be president?

No again, and again, Sister Omega!! You seem to be gittery about any mention of Jammeh's killings and brutal rule. Nowhere did I state it was the world Bank and the listed organisation that reported about Jammeh's killings. Though it is true that Jammeh enjoys human blood, it is the business of the World Bank and other donours to challenge him on Economic Crimes especially the wrong use of their funds. Others deal with him on matters he relates with them. Did you hear or read anywhere that it was Jammeh who ORDERED SHOOTING THE B*******?

Sister Omega, you insist on evidence as if there exists a legal order in Gambia. When Jammeh broke into the State House to call it a July 22 Coup, he broke the legal shield. His entire existence is ILLEGAL. He hates laws and will twist and turn laws to suit his selfish needs. That is Gambia under Jammeh. By all forms and essence, Jammeh first destroyed the LEGAL ENVIRONMENT to suit is blatant robbery of a whole system and governance. You are far from the truth about Jammeh if you think Jammeh believes in laws. Get this clear and we move it from there. Next you think of Jammeh in Gambia, unthink about law and order. That's the naked Gambia we are faced with. In short, the evidence you ask about is sitting abundantly under Jammeh's heavy-weight pressure on Gambian people.

I can only talk from my own experience, not a Gambian experience.

I have witnessed people frightened to speak the truth because they believe the government has spies everywhere.

When i say everywhere I mean it. Someone told me that in every place of employment and every place where public congregate there is a spy in the payment of the government.

There is no freedom in the western sense. The papers arenot free and people are not free from fear to vote as they wish.

Sister Omega I dont understand why you dont acknowledge this, you are intelligent and sensible. When did you last visit Gambia?

Brother,
I cannot say all what you are saying because I have no evidence. Who killed John F Kennedy, Olof Palmer, Dag Hammarsköld and many more? We suspect but there are no private investigations carried out to point anybody. I would have carried a private investigation. How do people know that the soldiers that shot the students were commanded by Jammeh? In the Gambia it is not a custom to do private investigations because of the cost and implications. This is what must be done to bring the facts on the table. Just because he is the comander in chief of the armed forces does not mean that all the killings are ordered by him. Think if these people had differences with other people. Illigal firearms have been circulating in the countryfor quite a while now. It is not difficult to buy a gun or pisto in the Gambia.
I do not want to defend anybody, but I belive we must stop the blogger idea and concentrait on the truth and how we can remedy the discrepancies. Sometimes we are just like Egyptians. When it suits us we refer to our Africans cultures and when it suits us we adopt the European ways. We must be objective and even show Jammeh that we are present by doing things at home to show examples.
Look at the truth coming out of former Yugoslavia now adays. Even the Serbs are bringing forward and trying their own Serb citizens in court for inhumanity acts during the war. We will have the chance to do the same thing if anything goes wrong withn Jammes reign.
Remember only God reigns forever no humanbeings will.
This is my opinion.

i am very much disappointed with my elder alhasan .cars without number plate ..nia's use tinted windows ,just to let you know. no other person is allowed to drive a car with tinted windows except them .so people know who they are. bev you are right many are scared to death to even mention the name of the beast .
