Momodou,

That was a l-oooong one.

As Momodou the Admin has said about your analysis,”brilliant”, but for me, your part two is far away, I’m still now on my second reading of your part one which is so tightly argued that it demands background preparation and absolute attention, the more so if one is not familiar with the immediate background to what you are analysing, hence the delay in responding to what you have said. And because of the compactness of your essay, therefore my second reading.

SO, I hope that you don’t mind that I will be asking a few questions that inevitably come up in almost every paragraph, from the fouth paragaph on, and because it is only when these - that look like cobwebs and impasse to understanding - are cleared, that I can claim to understand and perhaps have a comment or two to make.

My only comment now is that it is so tightly reasoned that I don’t think that it was intended for a general readership. Now if it’s not intended for a general readership – and I for one don’t need a dictionary, then don’t you think that the terseness of your prose defeats the whole purpose of your writing and limits you to a very little group indeed, among the Gambian intelligentsia?

The Motto in this Forum is now ”Simple is good" – a motto which with George Orwell as icon, and coming from a mostly semi-literate Africa, has been an ideal to be cherished when communication with the folks that will be returning Yahya Jammeh to power.

Dalton, I agree! He is as you discribe him.

i will make one thing straight which is , most gambian's know about the impecable character of mr hassan jallow and his unwillingness to long for position . he never contest for the post of flag beareship but was approached by some executive members without a general consensus of the rest of the executive members . i was not in any way implying that hassan wanted to be a flag bearer of nadd .after all his current position is as attractive as been a flag bearer of nadd if not less heart rendering . the issue i suppose was betrayal of mutual trust and confidence .governance is all about trust and loyalty .
the other part of the story is hassan himself made a personal phone call to his childhood friend from their days in bansang mr ousainou darbo . he ask mr darbo about the approach made to him by some nadd executive members wanting him to come and assume the flag beareship position .darboe was said to be shocked by that statement from hassan .hassan they say enquire from his friend why he did not informed him of such a matter . but to hassan supprise darbo wasn't aware of any such decision to approach hassan to take over the role .
from there the story goes that hassan catergorically advice his friend that ,if some members can by pass others in taking vital decision in the coalition ,then there is a lack of respect and genuiness in the part of some members .hassan said he decline to take the offer but also advice darbo to be careful of the coalition members.
there are several other issues but this was hassan jallows side of the fiasco . i am not at all saying this was the reason why nadd collapse .

Uncle Santa;
Thanks for the info. This is the first time that i am aware of such, in that magnitude. It is surprising, but doesn't sound impossible to me. There were a lot of lobbying by all kind of selfish people.

By the way, have you heard of this poem titled "It was six men of Hindo..", who went to see the elephant, all blind and to give their account of what the animal looks like. Check private mail.

Later! We will find time to thread more on this topic.

Oh drama, the plot thickens. Dalton, there is more to the story that your handlers won't tell ya. You are just used as a UDP bashing conduit. In other words you were used to further their agenda. When Ousainou spoke of mistrust, this is the sort of thing he is alluding to. At the end of this story, you and ilk (the panderry mbays) will regret your role in this sorry saga. You are complicit unwittingly.

If you can proof it, i will give you a crown. here is a pathetic case with you then. Settle your case with Pa Mbye, that will be better for you. Like Bush said "knowing what i know now, and knowing what i knew then."

your ink in this forum doesn't make you an independent mind, as you want people to sense. Where are the Bronx (NY) lobbists? Those that were constant at secrete meetings. They are the true "spites", "undesirables", and the very achitects of total failure of unity-and the very complicits of questionable character.

History is clear. Tales of agony, and regrets of "mansa" dream. What a failure? taking a path of darkness in an open forest? Lost kids! May God bring total brightness, now and for ever. "ndey saan."

Bronx is a pseudo name. I don't live in the bronx and I don't know the people you are referring to. I don't have to settle any case with Pa Mbay. I am making my case here. You guys were acting like you were in the loop while all along you are been played like a fiddle. It is pathetic how you let yourselves get used as conduits to settle petty jealousies and in the process derail NADD.

History is clear? Are you serious. We have just started cracking the surface on this tragedy and you already calling it clear. Slow your roll bro. Call your sources:you know the ones you used to brag about and inquire from them why they used you to settle scores.

Pal,

where were you when Darboe signed all our NADD T-shirts and bumper stickers in MN?

quoted thus "Put one sticker on your car, one in the bedroom and the other in the bathroom."-Perhaps, the most respected quote i borrowed from him. i heeded to this advice of his' to date.

NEWS
LAWYER DARBOE SPARKS NADD CLUSTERS IN CHICAGO
By Yero Jallow
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

September 3, 2005
Lawyer Ousainou Darboe, executive member for NADD and leader of the United Democratic Party was among many others at the Chicago annual summit. It is noted that Darboe is still on his visit going around the different states meeting Gambians and selling the NADD agenda.

In a phone conversation with Joe Sambou, Midwest coordinator for Save The Gambia Democracy Project, he described the program as very successful and beyond the expectation of the attendees. According to Joe, it wasn't easy for Darboe but he vehemently spoke NADD volumes and everyone was pleased the way Darboe was answering questions from the floor. "It looks like Gambians all over the U.S are ready to tell the coalition executives the truth and that really works", pointed Joe. Joe also pointed out few cases that look confrontational but he was quick to add that it can be understood that a leader should be ready to face all challenges.

Darboe, whose speech was centered on "building and sustaining democracy in the Gambia" advised Gambians and non-Gambians alike in Chicago that NADD have a program and a NADD leader will strictly work under NADD guidelines. This totally dismiss the rumours as was reported mid-last month on the daily observer by Ibrima Jaw Manneh that Darboe and UDP were backing out of the coalition. Joe in another note said "To be honest, Darboe spoke strictly on NADD and avoided any statement that look conflicting in interest". In ending his speech, Darboe also restored confidence and hope to the people, dismissing newsmonger that the UDP will back out from the coalition.

Other attendees included Dr. Saine, pioneer of Save The Gambia Democracy Project and Dr. Aisha Hakim, Executive director for African connection.

Allgambian is in effort to get details of the whole session at Chicago and coverage will be extended to Minnesota where he is due for Tomorrow to address a huge number of Gambians.
