I have had a lovely weekend at Ironbridge in Shropshire. It is a beautiful part of the country.Lots of beautiful old houses and oldfashioned gardens. Lovely friendly local pubs.Lots of people with dogs!Met up with someone who also loves the Gambia! He bought me back the dresses I had ordered last time I was there. He is one of the many, many people that read bantaba, but never post anything. We had a lovely weekend. He goes back to Gambia in November and is marrying a Gambian women.

Hope it's only one!
Sorry Bev, good to hear you enjoyed your weekend!

The age gap is quite large: he is in his early 50s and she is in her 20s. They plan to marry and have children together. He is a very kind, well intended man and I am sure he will take good care of her. He will give her the security she has never had in her life (she is an orphan) and she will give him the family life he wants. Both should be happy.

The cynics would say, she is only after his "Bus pass". I suppose one thing her being an orphan, he's not going to have a hugh extended family to look after? I wish them well.

What's everyone been up to this weekend. I was in the pub Friday night, but apart from that a very quiet one. Taxi service for daughter, washing, cleaning, gardening and school work. Monday comes round very quick!

Half term next weekend. Off to Leicester to see my family and go to Diwalli celebrations.

Gambie Bev, you MUST tell us a little about Diwalli and a Happy New Year to You too!

Today was Simchat Torah. Celebrating the TORAH, actually dancing with much happiness with the Torah, having completed yet another round of reading it - the best way to keep company with the Almighty! Sometime ago I remember dancing apollo soukous with the rabbi on this day.

Are there many Hindoos in your area?

It would be interesting for all the regular beer-drinking Bantabas to meet at your local pub. I think that we would simply take it over and make a LOT of NOISE! Raise hell! CHat up some of the local lasses. Take them home in taxis. How about that?

Of course the Muslims will be drinking Fanta and you are to expect that they are the most well behaved. Not like the palm wine drinkards.

And then at the Holi festival we could spray you with all kinds of colours!

In Tadcaster there are no Hindus as far as I am aware. In Leicester almost one third of the population is from Pakistan or India and are a mix of Hindus, muslims and Sikhs with Hindus in the majority (I think).
The Diwalli celebrations in Leicester are the biggest in the world outside of India. There is a street called Melton road where all the shops are Indian. They sell Indian food, clothes and GOLD. LOTS of GOLD!
The whole place is decorated with lights and families walk up and down in their best clothes. Then there is a big firework display.
It is known as the festival of lights. I enjoy the atmosphere and we usually go to a small family restaurant and have some wonderful food.
I will have to look up the religious stuff about Diwalli. I will post it later in the week!

Most, almost all, but not all.

So there is a reasonable chance for the odd bachelor to find & to multiply those whom his right hand may possess ( smile)

and Muta.....

These are legal possibilities and opportunities for the practicing believers, even in Merry England.
