THE BLACK WOMEN VERSION

Only a BLACK WOMAN
can go Primark, Fonthill Road & Portobello Market and
spend a tenner and get 8 outfits.

Only a BLACK WOMAN
can kiss her teeth & wave her hand after a bruddah when
he asks her for a dance at a rave, cos she don't fancy him.

Only a BLACK WOMAN
can wait 4 hours to get her hair washed in a
hairdressers then complain that the queue in Asda are too slow, saying
"why
don't they have enough people on the tills, I'm gonna stop
shoppin 'ere"

Only a BLACK WOMAN
can hate J-Lo and say "I don't know what the big deal
is, I know 10 women with a bigger batty den she"

Only a BLACK WOMAN
can put their hands up and dance to 'Independent' by
Destiny's child then ask a bruddah for a drink, then a lift home
at the end of the rave.

ONLY A BLACK WOMAN
Wears a wig, 3-inch heels and a split up her thigh to
work and makes it look professional.

ONLY A BLACK WOMAN
Can wear the hell out of Lycra.

ONLY A BLACK WOMAN
Can raise a doctor, a world-class athlete and an A+
student in a council flat

ONLY A BLACK WOMAN
Can work full time while going to Uni part time,
raising respectful and intelligent children, and a make
it all seem effortless

ONLY A BLACK WOMAN
Can go from the boardroom to the 'yard and "keep it
real" in both places.

ONLY A BLACK WOMAN
Can cut you in half with a look

ONLY A BLACK WOMAN
Can make a Black man and his non-Black date nervous
without saying a word

ONLY A BLACK WOMAN
Can live below poverty level and yet set fashion
trends.

ONLY A BLACK WOMAN
Can make a child happy on Christmas Day even if he
didn't get a darn thing.

ONLY A BLACK WOMAN
can be admired and fantasized about by men of other
races

ONLY A BLACK WOMAN
Can make other women want to pay plastic surgeons and
tanning salons hundreds and thousands of £££'s for physical features
she was already born with.

ONLY A BLACK WOMAN
can be the mother of civilization.
LOVE THE BLACK WOMAN AND RESPECT THE BLACK WOMAN

This poem does nothing apart from encouraging pre existing racial stereotypes...............

Reread the poem with the word white instead of black...many of the statements are still true.

Many circulars doing the rounds on the net are filled with such rubbish.......why not just delete them? I never pass them on...... and would never dream of putting them on bantaba.

I thought we were trying to have a higher level of debate!

Get a life Bev this is a humour coloumn. Does this joke affect your bigotted mentality? Are you still under the opinion that it's unsafe for Africans to talk to each other without the permission of a European wake up, and smile the coffee! The missionary position is only suitable for the bedroom if you are that way inclined not in this bantaba.

Respect to the Blackwoman for against the odds she has and will forever survive. And those who don't like that statement can go kiss my ASS.

Have a good day all

Sister Omega i loved this poem, it made me laugh even after a long day at work! Even though i am not a black woman i can see that much of it is true. I loved the bit about the plastic surgeon and tanning studios. This is definately true, because there are so many beautiful black women and many white women envy their looks and beautiful skin. But then again most people want something they haven't got!!

Gambiabev you also got a point, just put all those black words to white in the poem probably sister O will react soonest.I am black and really like black and white women both and I don't think this poem is balanced in any form but rather try to manifest the ability of the black women over the inability of the white women which is utter rubbish. Is not the colour that matters I believe is to do with cultures which varies.

it reminded me of a text i received which i found heartwarming and would like to share it with you....

THE VALUE OF A WOMAN

This couldnt be said more beautifully.... Be careful if you make a woman cry because God counts her tears. A woman came out of a man's rib, not from his feet to be walked on and not from his head to be superior, but from his side to be equal, under the arm to be protected and next to the heart to be loved.

This made me smile and i hope it makes you smile too

Let me ask you all a question are any of you Black women who live in the inner cities of the Uk or any white majority country? if not then none of you can understand the Black woman's experience in these environments. That is why this poem is a morale booster for Black women. Of course white woman can raise children to be a success in these countries because the political, social, and economic infrastructure is geared in their favour and therefore is not such a big issue. If the reversed racism was in play in these countries then I suppose these women would be writing similiar poems fortunately for them it is not.

Life is what you make it Bev and for the record my shoulders are intact. And if you had an awareness about the African Diaspora community in Britain then you would understand where the author of this poem was coming from, and by the way the expression "chip on your shoulder" is an indication of a bigotted stance, as it has been said before i'll repeat again "Who feels it knows it!"

Now this is my last reply to Bev on this issue.

I thought it was a funny poem! What´s the big deal, to make such a fuss about it? How silly. This is the humour coloumn for christ sake! A bit of fresh air in the otherwise so serious Bantaba can never hurt.
When it comes to humour, Is there any subject that is taboo to joke about? Think about those famous black comedians like Richard Pryor, Dave Chappelle, Chris Rock etc. There is and have always been a joke about white/black people and I think it is hilarious!
My gosh, some women here really seem so oversensitive and negative...
Write your own jokes then if you think you have better ones!
