dBaldeh I think that you deserve an apology for certain over-reactions, when topic was introduced as "Unofficial positions"
It is just lately I realised that there are some valid points that may have been related to BOTH PDOIS & UDP camps!
All 3 positions (PDOIS unofficial position), I think you tried to highlight some key areas from PDOIS proposals; especially Agenda 2011.
This point on UDP unofficial position; "3. UDP - Primary elections to select a flagbearer from different opposition parties is not feasible and UDP will not participate in such a primary."; appear to relate with this revealing statement from Fatou Jaw Manneh's interview with UDP leader, as quoted; "In the same vein he categorically ruled out the notion of initiating a nation wide primary as a vehicle for settling on a flag-bearer saying such a move is impractical, unnecessary and unprecedented. He said individual political parties can resort to primaries to choose their candidates ."UDP Leader - Lawyer Ousainou Darboe
Refer Maafanta.com No Defeatism. We should not let Jammeh highjack the government again by default , says Ousainu Darboe in a phone conference with Gambian on-line media publishers under http://www.maafanta.com/OusainuDarboePressconference.html
ON A FINAL NOTE I THINK I HAVE GATHERED SUFFICIENT INFORMATION, OPINIONS, COMMENTS & PROPOSALS TO EXECUTE THE MELTING POT! AS PROMISED!
Kobo, no need to apologize. I think many a times we react to statements rather than digesting them in context.
I think I posted that thread with good information on where PDOIS and UDP stands on the issues. I have not only spoken to these leaders but have read a lot about their positions as well.
I wanted to let sleeping dogs lye, but facts are facts and when people discount them corrections should be made.
This point I made about UDP's unofficial position which was dicounted by folks on the UDP side is infact the OFFICIAL position of the UDP. I have documentations stating clearly that the UDP does not support or agree to a 5 Year transition. This was one of my bullet points:
2. There shouldn't be any restrictions for 5 year transition and UDP should be free to form a government if the coalition wins the elections (although Darboe stated he will form a coalition government)
There are official records and correspondence that confirms this position that UDP is not receptive to a 5 year transition and a leader of a coalition pivoting out of subsequent elections after the transition. If anyone wants to dispute this fact I will provide the statement.
I always thought some of the endless arguments we have online is not taking us anywhere. So rather than continue to fight a losing course, I think we should focus on the bigger picture and the real enemy - the rogue regime!
Time is of the essence and we may be running out....
