Orthodox muslims?
"Lā ilāha illallāh, Muhammadun rasūlullāh" (There is no god but God, and Muhammad is the messenger of God) suffice to be a Muslim. By saying that, you denounce Roog.

Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices. |

Sub-human. You can't understand how we humans think. That is the minimum principle of Islam. There are other principles, but if you don't follow, that is not good. However, you don't fast, prey, hajj etc, you are still a muslim. I enjoyed the cultural event of Xoy. It was good entertainment and cultural experience. I like to experience variety of different cultural events and observe other religions rituals. There are many Christians and visit Islamic rituals i.e. sufism and participate in Islamic ritual i.e. sufism but that does not make them Muslims if they do not make the deceleration. |

No more new ideas when people start to call each other Sub-human, Camel Jockey and Mamluk! You will both get a longer time-out the next time if this trend continues. Perhaps these words should be added to the bad word filter.
By the way this topic seems to be exhausted!

Tam,
Its been a while. I am just busy these days. Actually am still in Banjul looking after the business. No terrorist training as u think lol.
We are not arab worshippers but muslims on equal footing with any muslim , be him arab, african, caucasian , watevr, as long as the Kalima is the same.
All muslims today at one point in their history worship some other god(s). Arabia before Rasool came were pagans or animists even amongst the holy prophet's family. Those that saw the 'light', Islam left the 'darkness' of paganism to embrace this great religion.
i have a question for you. Does ur god, Roog have a surname/ if yes wat is it. Chi Jaama

Wise comments and same as extract from Daily Observer editorial; "The Holy Qur'an says: "Call unto the way of thy Lord with wisdom and fair exhortation, and reason with them in the better way". This is why cohesion is rejected by Islam and declares that there is no compulsion in religion. Beyond tolerance, Islam supports harmony with other religions. In the edict he issued in Hijri, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) gave full protection to Christians of conquered territories in all religious, spiritual, social, cultural, economic and legal matters; he had warned that anyone who went against these provisions was an accursed offender on lslam. Non-Muslim citizens were treated as equals of Muslims. In fact, it was incumbent on the Governments to protect their life and property so much so that they were exempt from military service. Islam."
The Daily Observer editorial Stop the religious division under http://observer.gm/africa/gambia/article/stop-the-religious-division
ALWAYS THE TRUTH (FOR GLORIOUS QURAN) & VICTORY (FOR ISLAM)!

Is Roog, the Serere animist god, not the same as the Ruh(u) , one of many references to the Islamic God? Perhaps you guys are talking about the same thing... |

There is no reference for God in Islam called 'Ruh(u)'.
'Ruh' means spirit but that is not God.
Closest Allah's names to Roog are;
Razzaq (Provider) Rafi (Exalter) Raqib (Watcher) Rauf (Kind) |

Probably you are right. African Animism and Afro-Asiatic Animism (Arabs, Eastern Africans, Egyptians) are closely related so Roog is most likely is a buddy of pre-Islamic Arabic Gods.
It is actually interesting both Arabs and Sereres have the exactly same religious history. Both Arabs and Sereres, former animists became Muslims. |
