Certainly it is sister. The point is he was defiant and had maintained his stance even though his organisation was a subject of a commission of inquiry. Infact his case is in the courts. The best place to do that is to admit guilt in the courts and then face the music. This is trying to circumvent the law and get his case withdrawn by the prosecution.
Then we will question why taking him to court and waste precious dalasi that we so badly need to survive. The speaker did the same and soon the gates to the statehouse will be flooded with people rolling on thir backs and wailing for mercy. This is a mockery to the legal sytem. People who are charged should clear thier names in courts not on the door mats of politicians. |

Very well. I would support it sister. People have harbored a lot of grudges and a commission like that is very necessary.
One thing i like about Gambians is that when you ask for forgiveness, no matter what, you can easily get off the hook. People feel embarrassed when you asked for their forgiveness. They are more likely going to shed tears and forgive you. The problem with Gambians is when you think you are right and want to insist even though you are wrong. They will walk the length and breadth of this world to proof you wrong.

Kondorong,Ok with the former and the latter in mind wouldn't it be more feasible for Gambia to set up a truth and reconcillation committee. Or it could fall under the auspices of the AU whereby people who want forgiveness can actually go to the commission with the injured party to resolve such matters? And to make it equitable more for a Truth & Reconcilliation with Justice added into the equation to resolve such matters in a peaceful and productive way. Thereby evolving an African form of Justice because forgiveness is not a soft option for the ones asking to be forgiven or the ones doing the forgiving.

I cant agree more. I think even the government will make a big stride if they will atleast admit they made mistakes and asked for forgiveness. It is very hard to admit a mistake and we all struggle with it. I sometimes find it hard but i remember my five year old son reminding me of my house rules of knocking before entering. He was right. I just had to apologise to him.
This is hard for me and a departure from what i grew up to learn that the elders are always right. Then again it made me realise that we are all human and make mistakes. It has made me softer and less masculine. You know what i mean. |

Yep I sure do! My elders taught me not to automatically think that all elders are wise, that amongst them their are plenty of fools. As a parent and grandparent I've always been aware that one can learn from the youngest member of society to the eldest, and children can teach us to be humble enough to accept we make mistakes after all the only one who is perfect is Our Creator.

Kondorong I often use that expression myself to my children.  It comes in handy when they are pre-teens and teenagers especially when they are showing attitude! Alas a saying that fits any age group.
