www.gainako.com/ The protest against impunity is a step in the right direction, as was rightly put by Douglas, “when there is no struggle, there is no progress.” I remained unconvinced of any moral justification of Jammeh’s ascend to power, as well as his continuous stay in power. The Gambia’s national pride has been prostituted, and a dark cloud looms over our heads, such that we cannot predict what the future holds. Our predicament owes itself to historical accident, and it is easy to see that a lot of forces are contributing to Jammeh’s continuous stay in power. Some of the forces are the criminals that the current administration favors temporally who sooner or later tumbles 360 degrees, within a short period of time. While our hearts continually bleed with daily unfolding, especially the political temperament, I am once again saddened over some of the desperate attempts to silent voices of decent, kill the citizenry or even throwing some in jail. It has been proved beyond reasonable doubt that a notorious political criminal (Jammeh) who masquerades in the uniform of the presidency reigns in current day Gambia, reminiscent of the likes of Idi Amin Dada. The celebration of July 22nd day as a day of liberation further justifies Jammeh’s criminal mind. In the end, we are trapped in a funny triangular parable that is, while Jammeh is dealing with us, we are dealing with ourselves in many different forms. NB: Baldeh, Karim and all participants, excellent job! yj
