Some time ago, we were told by president Yaya Jammeh about his plans to construct railways in Gambia.

Mr president, when will you bring the trains?

Karamba, that is part of vision 5050. Never mine. The sky is the limit Yahya says.

Santanfara, the talk about Gambia Railways seems dead at birth. Yaya is no longer saying a word about it. He may start up digging farm land and end up saying we neeed another 50 years to get the rail tracks set. The thing is, Yaya knows he is just fooling around.

Okay once again I will say it loud and clear if the opposition does not disown law breaking citizens. I would assume the cell has gotten bigger and part of the bigger picture is to incorporate them for their advancement. Karamba please tell me something, I know you are not Pa Nderry but are you part of the Klansman politicians,You know exactly what I mean. Very interesting I am sure MOE, but what about the railways ?,you talking about cells ,did you hear on the news that an American prof. has made a great step forward in relation to making DNA for a bacteria cell? I will try to find an article and post it here for you.
Here it is MOE:

US team creates first 'synthetic life'
Thursday, May 20 07:10 pm

Jean-Louis Santini US researchers have developed the first bacteria cell controlled by a synthetic genome, in a breakthrough which may pose philosophical and scientific questions about the bid to recreate life. "This is the first synthetic cell that's been made," said lead researcher Craig Venter, as the discovery was unveiled.

"We call it synthetic because the cell is totally derived from a synthetic chromosome, made with four bottles of chemicals on a chemical synthesizer, starting with information in a computer."

The team said it now hopes to use the method it has developed "to probe the basic machinery of life and to engineer bacteria specially designed to solve environmental or energy problems."

The method could be used to design bacteria specifically to help produce biofuels or to clean up environmental hazards, said the study carried out by the J. Craig Venter Institute, and published in the journal Science.

"This becomes a very powerful tool for trying to design what we want biology to do. We have a wide range of applications (in mind)," said Venter, co-author of the first sequencing of the human genome in 2000.

The researchers synthesized the 1.08 million base pair genome of the bacterium Mycoplasma mycoides, created from four bottles of chemicals which make up the components of DNA.

They also added DNA sequences to "watermark" the genome to distinguish it from a natural one, in a bid to overcome any controversy about the possibility of creating life from scratch in a test-tube through a chemical process.

They had also imprinted the names of 46 scientists, who worked on the project, on the genome along with its own website address -- so that anyone who decodes the genome can send an email to the team.

"We do start with a living cell which we transform," Venter told a later press conference, adding the cell had now gone through a "million steps of replication" and was now frozen in a freezer.

"This is an important step we think, both scientifically and philosophically. It's certainly changed my views of the definitions of life and how life works," he added in a statement.

Throughout the research, the team had engaged in discussions about the ethical implications of their work, he said.

Venter's team announced in 2008 that it had chemically synthesized a bacterial genome, but it was unable to activate that genome in the cell at that time.

Now the team had managed to "boot up" the synthetic genome to create the first cell controlled by a synthentic genome.

Potential applications include producing algae to clean up carbon dioxide, one of the main greenhouse gases blamed for global warming, or making new clean energy hydrocarbons for refineries.

Researchers also hope to work on techniques to speed up the production of vaccines and to make new food ingredients and chemical substances.

"The ability to routinely write the software of life will usher in a new era in science, and with it, new products and applications such as advanced biofuels, clean water technology, and new vaccines and medicines," the institute said on its website.

"Continued and intensive review and dialogue with all areas of society, from Congress to bioethicists to laypeople, is necessary for this field to prosper."

Toubab,

About the American DNA advance, I got the details too. Good if you can lead on that.

Regarding Moe, his problem is simple. In attempts to dive away, he gets easily caught. What on Earth has his post on this thread got to do with the subject at hand?

Moe, we are not trading knowledge or ignorance here. We are dealing with hard core facts of matters. You either prove yours or stay where you are.

I am not interested about who I am here neither my knowledge or ignorance as seems to bother you. My role is to expose Yaya Jammeh for his crimes against humanity and lot others. If you have information to clear Yaya from all the crimes, be ready.

You can't get my person in this way. Pay attention to my issues raised.

Moe, stop hanging your impaired self in thin air. This will never work for you. You have chosen a cheap and the most abhorred way by being how you are. Guess what intelligent people make of you.

There you go again as usual always looking for some piece of meat on the bone but hey slow down a bit. The H.E. has delivered more than railways to the Gambia so if Jammeh said he will bring railways be very well sure that he will bring it. May be you think governments can work that fast but no, it take a lot of feasibilty studies to embark on such an undertaking like building rail roads. For.ex, it has to be built without disturbing the our nature, fauna and flora and most importantly our enviroment. So the ground work is on and very soon you will see the first rail bars landing at the banjul port to be graciosly received by our dear President, H.E. Rtd Col. Dr. Alh. Sheikh, Proff. Yahya AJJ Jammeh. You will be suprised what high ambitions can bring to us. Yes the sky is the limit and beyond.

Breadman,Gambia The Smiling Coast ,agreed, but I have to take exception to your words "most importantly our enviroment." Long, Long, ago in the days of tranquility and settled lifestiles that had been built over generations in The Gambia your words were true, look at the enviroment now, rubbish everywhere plastic bags bottles rubbish washed up on the beaches, look along the coast near Barra yourself,no one is taking care, Set Setal not serious at all, clean the nation, excellent idea but too much work for the average Gambian, one day later rubbish again everywhere until next month.

Very true as you rightly said, a lot of work left towards sustainable enviromental development. and yes the set settal is not working as it was intended but hey the H.E. cannaot see all that by him self. We need a more organised way of cleaning our nation, I agree.

Bread Man,

Your line of thinking suits a purpose. Unfortunately, Gambia is not private investment of Yaya Jammeh for good people to wait till he turns pebbles into diamonds. The president of a private company would have enjoyed both financial and corporate mandate to carry on from father to son. Gambia is a collective establishment shared between more than 1.8 million good citizens. So let Jammeh stop fooling about that he commands such authority.

For you Moe, when resorting to your lowest, it becomes clear that the heat is frying you up. It is always nice to note how you fume from inside your chest when these hard facts spill out. I have always chosen to release one, then another, then another till your infected heart can't take any more.

I would appeal to all the people you have chosen to be sulky with to forgive you. You so much deserve sympathy as someone in this much pain. So let them forgive you as I would do.

Until the last moment your rogue captain runs away, get ready to be tormented.

If what you read does not make sense, one wonders how comes you get so bitterly infuriated. I wish I could write better so as to consume your full bitter heart size. For now, the doeses are just meant to be tasted. Here we go.

Did you read from Dida Halake or heard his radio interviews recently?

Sa captain, 'efade offdo'

Back to my good friend Bread Man, Gambians are no fools to keep waiting for soon come rail service. This rogue scheme of time buying will never work for Yaya. Listen to Dida Halake. Let me know if you miss the link.

My plan is to get that UDP confession out of you first of all.then I can talk to my friend DIDA HALAKE about how wrong and desperate he is acting. Only a person who has wronged someone, deserves forgiving ,I am Yalla bu Ndaw" I have to accept your prayers first Karamba. ...................................................Peace

Good question Karamba. Yahya's life style alone means, all the debt our country has emass cannot be paid even after 100 years. The man has no direction. It is time he safe himself.

Santanfara,

Would have taken notice of the rebirth of Sister Omega with her tirades on what anyone has to write about.

Where does all that leave the right of CHOICE? Everyone is free to take on or start whatever suits that person. From what I realise, the wider space of Bantaba and Cyberspace for that matter stays very much open for anyone to exercise your right to personal views. If anyone considers issues more pressing than what runs around, better you start setting in and leave the rest to readers. What is the business of one person in what other persons choose as subject of interest?

On my part, the criminal invasion of Yaya Jammeh is not a foregone issue. It is alive and that's my interest. I will stay on that no matter what. I have no right to sanction anyone and will not be cowed by fools and wise men alike. Neither will horse power move me.

We are all free to stick or tear apart.

Who will deny that what Yaya stands on is not criminal?

We do know for some people thinking big is like an elephant trying to get its head through an eye of a needle.
As overloaded circuits must break, so does just the thought of Gambia having a railway seem to be an impossible dream to some.

However, let me remind you my friend in the beginning was the word and it was generated from a thought. So it's good to dream and think big and be bold. As Bread Man cited there needs to be an Environmental Impact Assessment to assess what Environmental, Social, Economical impacts may or may not be affected by the Railway project.

Do remember Karamba in the real world its humans who build railways and not CADD programs alone. In other words as others have stated the obvious already, I'll spell it out a bit more clearer as it seems you misunderstood. It takes time to build a real railway and minutes to build a toy one. Maybe you're getting confused never mind now you can run along and take the tracks out of your toy box and remember to put them away when you've finished, and sit down have a nice refreshment instead of aggravating nerves after reading this post.

Peace

Sister Omega
