Sir why Do you insist on being a brute To the weak undefended folk Whom you swore to defend That is a heartless act Which is condemned here and everywhere Saawai defaal ndangka
Sir why Do you pretend To be kind Yet with callous hands Stroke the wounds of your victims Making it out as a gesture of benevolence As they pretend to smile But cry silently as well Saawai bayil niitnyii
Sir why Do you think You are the best of all In all that we have as a people But stoop so low When you lie about issues That matter the most to us all Holding a holy script As a guise of sanctity That even the blind can see through Saawai nyon dun edoff deh
Sir why Not just vacate The seat you usurped And solemnly swore to hold in trust Which you finally soiled With blood of the innocent Piling yourself with loot Pretending you are not seen Saawai giss nagnla chi lu werr
Saawai waachal The loop is narrowing down Go before it is too late For then you cannot undo your wrongs It would be your turn To face the music Not raged reggae But the drumbeats of your conscience That is if you have any at all

Thanks Anna, whether "Sir" does listen or not ,it is incumbent on us to keep harping on this matter as it concerns us gravely that our lives as that of those dear to us are fettered, by his callous rule/regime. The ancients say that a stone is very hard indeed but with a multitude continuously spitting on it , they finally moisten it enough to disintegrate, see how water affects the hard granite rocks on a waterfall eh! They were wise ; the ancients were. |

Kaani toofoo buka daa janii , tonya laebeh laban naa yeh mamaa! Thanks Santangfara .Even if it hurts let the truth be spoken, let it not be said that we too were baffled by another naked emperor as indeed we can clearly see through the subterfuge , Soldiers are experts at camouflage but hey man that is on the battle field not the political one , transparency is the watch word here in case Yaya Jemmeh has not noticed.Like a torn in his flesh these lines will keep poking at the naked parts of His Excellency.....oops! |

Good one Kaani, perhaps I should use it as my signature with some adjustment. Thank you. |

You are so nice with your words of sir, saawai, etcetera, even though the aggressor don't deserve it..could be satiric addressing. On the other hand, the poem's message is fitting to that of a pretentious aggressor whose whims and caprices on decent citizenry know no bounds. I think it is as Professor Saine put it in words, and to paraphrase –we are looking at the beginning of the end.
As far as I can see, two things are likely to happen; Jammeh will either commit suicide, or some of these soldiers are going to blow his skull to pieces, because he will not readily give up power, knowing with certainty what awaits him. Both the former and the later are imminent. In any ways, which ever of them comes first, I say rot-in-hell until those transgressed stand in rows before their Lord asking for their niche of true justice, either in this world or the hereafter. The innocent accused witches and wizards, the student victims of April 10th/11th, the journalists in the caliber of Chief E. Manneh, the political supporters in the persons of Kanyiba Kanyi, the many soldiers victimized, and the unending list of victims of murder, incarceration, random hire and fire, torture, humuliation.....etc...will that day rejoice over a true victory of justice.

That sounds like a curse cast on His Excellency just now . Perhaps it was inevitable that he had to suffer these failures , I mean things seem to not be working especially in the domain of appointments to high office by him.Every time he appoints officials I want to believe that he intends them to be a success story alas they turn out to be failures any way. He can never get it right that is my believe perhaps because of a curse , self inflicted ;may be ,via his constant swearing ; reminding me of his watch words " Billahi Wallahi Tallahi....." Come on guys this fellow has lost it and can never get it right, ever ! As for the end ;it surely is coming and I pray that it does not usher in another reign of misrule, terror and endless cruelty on the citizenry by the Executive Amen ! |
