I am looking for the recordings of Sunjulu Suso, any help
Sunjulu Suso a kora king don't seem to have anything on him in the internet. Can anyone help with his recordings?

He was a famous kora master, who lived after Lalo Keba. Why is he not written about? I try searching him using different spelling suggested by others but still blank. Any comment?

I had a CD by him and Naahawa , recorded in Japan (the best cora recordning ever)but my brother took it and never came back. I can´t remember the name.
Interestingly both Lalo Kebba and Sunjulu Suso are termed Senegalese, maybe if one searches French sites one could get something on him.

well Janko, soundioulo is definitely from senegal, casemance. lalo is think played there for a while only.

Santa, you're lucky i have an excellent link from VOA I have on my pc, with recording from the 1960s recorded in Monrovia, it also has some very interesting text on some other great gambian kora players.

listen to Mahawa(his second wife) on the 'kelefa'

Sunjulu Suso (English) or Soundioulou Cissoko (French) is one and the same. Although born in Southern Senegal (Cassamance), he has a Gambian father from (Tambasansang) in CRD.

Here is a link to Seneweb on him:

Thanks Njucks for the links. Sunjulu is celebrated both in the Gambia and Senegal. In the provences, we take him as a Gambian may be because of what Momodou said. His father's side.
Janko, Sunjulu is said to be a very good kora grand master, if you can find that CD, it will be good.

I mean into the media playable version on bantaba instead of as a link to VOA.

ah, i didint know that, i guess a lot of the great kora players owe it to the gambia. the grammy award winner too, Toumani's father (sidiki) is orignally from the gambia too.
