Thanks Santafara. I will wait for the English translation. I tried to read it in Mandingo (my mother tongue), it didn't work. Perhaps I am not familiar with the song in the first place. Ain't that pathetic, my mother tongue?

Thanks Toubab, i will try. Kay, Foday Musa Suso has live in U.S since you were in primary 6. since 1979 to be precise. He speak a mix of Mandingka dialect, some of it cassamance or Kabbuu. I will do my best to translate, but i hope Janko could help.

Quite a challenge Suntou but I may be able to help with the translations. Do you want to translate the whole song as done by Foday Musa or just as posted on your blog?

Suntou, Kayjatta, Janko, Toubab and all,
Am visiting the Gambia in a few days and will be there for 6 weeks but will definately work on Suntou's 'project' and post here. I expect it to be done during my first week there so please bear with me.

Deep mandinka indeed! I picked more by listening, however. Can't wait for the translation as well...

thanks gainde for the kind offer. We will keenly await the input. But is it possible to put the Joker link for us here, so that Toubab can hear what we are on about. i try taking it from onegambia but fail.

Also please whilst in the Gambia, see if you can get us a good fana fana cultural tape or video. I am trying to reconnect with my Fana fana side of late. Momodou will have to do the negotaition between myself and brother Juldeh Camara. Momdodou, no excuses.

Mansa, deep indeed. But if you listen to the song until when he said 'itela dabo tou sunkuto, ....' and the rest only the Suso kunda folks can end it.

Suntou, I plan to travel extensively to record cultural music videos and will for sure get to Ballanghar so be assured to watch a fanafana video when I come back.
