Gambia seem to pull quite a favorable draw. We are in Group 6, along with Burkina Faso, Namibia, and Mauritania. Burkinafaso aside, i think any of the other teams are there for a taking. This is one of the most reasonable draws we had in many decades. The trick with these qualifiers is as usual, to win all your home matches and pick up an away point or two, then you are home and dry. I hope the FA and the coach learnt a lesson from the past.

True, Mansa, the draw may look favorable on paper but it certainly won't be as easy as it look. That is why we must marry caution with self belief, with each team and game. We just need to make The Independence Stadium the opposition's nightmare to play in, then we stand a good chance. I don't know, but there is a feeling of destiny about this one.

Paul Putt Reacts to Africans Nation Cup Draw
By Ousman Baldeh

The draw for the 2012 African Nations Cup took place on the 20th February 2010 in, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Gabon and Equatorial Guinea are automatically qualified for being the host of the 2012 nations’ cup.

The Gambia is in group six along side Namibia, Mauritania and Burkina . The head coach of the Gambia senior national team, Paul putt, said he has to do his home work inorder to know about all this teams. According to Paul Burkina Faso is a strong team because they have been going to the nations’ cup for some time and in the case of the Namibian team, Paul Put indicated that they have`ve qualified twice for the nations’ cup and in the past years they played nine friendly matches, won four, drew four and lost one so they are also a good team.

For Murtaina they are more or less the same as the Gambia because they have never qualified for the continental tournament since its inception in 1957. Coach Paul Put lamented that if the Gambia is to qualified all stake holders should put their hands on deck, players should commit themselves because the easiest way to make it in the group is to win all your home matches and try to get the best result that you can get in the away encounters. In an interview with the Daily news ports at the Serrekunda east park on Saturday Put said all Gambians have the hope that we will qualify. He finally concluded by saying that he will do every thing by any means possible for the Gambia to qualify for the 2012 nations’ cup in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
