I guess when we stop mentioning this word it will die out in the end. I thing we like to cry foul very easily and always looking for scapegoats.
Of course not everyone is the same but a close nit society like in the gambia, tribalism should not be a problem. Whom to be tribalistic against? There is no family in the Gambia without a mixture of different languages. So what is the fuss about?

I believe we can conveniently shelve this topic as PART 1. and move on later to address more policy issues and ingredients! Thanks to all who participated. Anyway this topic is still current and open for more discussion. Its not yet concluded. Am just expressing my opinion.
Sorry mate but this opinion garbage from Mathew Jallow is a none starter. Tribalism has no place in the new Gambia we are all yearning for. This kind of piece will only cause suspicion amongst the Gambians and thats the last thing we need now. Its a ploy by the desperate. To me Mathew has to put aside trinalism for me to take him seriuosly.
All well said guys .Tribalism is the last thing that should be entertained. All your contributions now shows how it should be condemed in every possible way as well. We can now move on.
There is no egg without a chicken, and no chicken without egg.
Kobo sorry mate no offence but the debate on the issue lacks substances and at best sensational. The so called facts lack evidence, can only stand as long as the sand mountains in the sahara could remain visible by the passing padestrain .....remote from being call factual but opinionated.
Please be specific on each individual postings if you have your reservations, want to challenge, contradict or seek further clarification. The debate is still on and we have covered many huddles already. Don't just make a generalise statement like that. Help us with constructive ideas and lead us or refer us to the solutions.
In my opinion you appear to be intellectual on those remarks but not specific!
Kobo i'm not going to start name calling, its not a personal attack on an individual posting or postings rather strong opinion on the nature of the debate and the "facts" use to substantiate some of the arguments.
This topic is not personalise but dealing with the substance of the underlying postings. What do they mean to you if you read them? What are your reflections and opinions on each individual postings? Any reservations or differences of opinions on them. What can we learn from them. Its for educational purpose. What better approaches do you have in mind amongst other things?
We have covered 17(seventeen) pages so far. You are welcome on any area of interests for further discussion or add some more pertinent issues or substance to this topic.
A word of caution "Great minds don't discuss people they discuss issues"
We prematurely raised some eyebrows and some that the Army and Jammeh's security apparatus is being undermined by tribalism on promotions. Are there any evidence here? Under http://allafrica.com/stories/200606070742.htm
