I am not understanding this, 1), if I invite someone over from Gambia, there is no family ties to me. so what is the reason for the visit, how long have I know the person I am inviting, If the person is educated privately, provide a letter head or acceptance letter or something to back up the face that you attend the school, putting a name and email is not enough, No official is going to phone a school to confirm if you attend or not. If there is no family relationship to the friend then state so, no relationship, but I have know this person for XX amount of time. It seems a lot of money has beeen spent on appealing for a one month visit. I read Prince's reply and understood it, provided extra proof of what is needed If she is 27 years of age, past education age, and the information was posted in 2003, then you should read this. Laws/rules are changed all the time. |

| Lucky you in UK to get to know why the visa is denied, here in Sweden they donīt have to give you any reason but I see they are asking for same information from the applicant. If any gambian wants to visite somebody in sweden they have to call the embassy in senegal and make an appointment..it normally takes at least a week, calling everyday before you get through since the phonehours are not many and connection is bad, not very cheap calls..then in best case you can travel to senegal and leave your application after 3 months from the phonecall...if you get your visa, you will get a new appointment and have to travel again to pick it...if you are denied...sorry...you didnt win a lottery! |

So, UK better than Sweden for telling people things, very surprising Pleased that you agree with the general view that the whole thing is a lottery |

All the questions and information asked for on the visa application form was given. No more no less The problem is you dont know what you dont know so you dont know what depth of detail they realy want Hind Sight is a wonderful thing. But now lessons learnt. In some other countries I have been to there are agentcies you can go to who know the law and inside out of visa applications and the finer detals and intricacies. I wonder how many fall into this trap at Ģ80 pounds is a lot of money to a Gambian. Maybe the answer is within that cost you could have a brief pre interview based on your personal circumstances and advised what level of detail to submit |

Toubab, Snuggels, etc, I do not think it is a lottery as such . Most emabassies and immigration officials want people to visit, study, and live in their countries. Their countries benefit from it in terms of finance, diversity, and international goodwill. However, immigration policies and the issuance of travel visas are governed by law, and that law looks for genuine travelers who are traveling for genuine reasons as they claim on their application forms. In short, you have to prove your claim (perhaps atleast by a preponderance of the evidence)before a visa can be issued. It is quite similar to a trial... I have once petitioned/filed a visa on behalf of someone. All the evidence was good, but the application was filed with a wrong form. It was denied, with an advice to re-file on the appropriate form... Immigration issues can be complicated, and there is plenty of mis-information and myth about the issuance of visas, but if you do not know something you can contact the relevant embassy/immigration dept, they are usually very helpful. Matter of fact most of them have step-by-step instructions and supporting documents for most categories of visas that you can take home and guide yourself in building up your case/claim... Furthermore, I do not think travelling to a foreign country is a right. If you do not prove that you have a genuine reason, you could be denied with or without an explanation... |

In theory all well and good but in practice its all down the visa application officer on the day. Ok in our case we could/should have supplied more detailed information. But some of the reasons we were turned down were clearly wrong or information not supplied were not even a requirement on the application form
2/ who has not shown any funds, NOT TRUE ALL BANK ACCOUNTS WITH STATEMENTS PROVIVED
3/ requires that you Intend to leave the United Kingdom at the end of the period of the visit as stated by you. FLIGHT TICKETS WITH RETURN DATES SUPPLIED
4/ You state that you are going to visit a male family friend. You have not stated the family circumstances of this person. NOT REQUESTED ON VISA FORM
8/ You are being fully sponsored by a British person whose relationship to you is not stated. THIS WAS STATED FAMILY FRIEND
9/ You have not shown that you have previously travelled overseas. This is not a reason to refuse in it self out when taken into account with the other factors; I am not satisfied on the balance of probabilities that you meet the requirements. I THINK HERE BY HANGS THE CRUNCH ITS AT THEIR DISCRETION
10/ As mentioned the family circumstances of your sponsor In the UK has not been mentioned. REPEATED AS IN 8/ WHY TO MAKE IT LOOK WORSE
11/ There is no photographic or other evidence that you have known him over a period of tlme. NOT REQUESTED ON THE VISA FORM
Yes they follow the basic rules but as said previousely its at thier discretion and they add things in as they go along. So yes I really do think it is a lottery

2/ Banks statements of who? You or your friend? Your friend bank statement is more valuable to the officer than your statement.
3/ Flight return means nothing. If you buy one way ticket you will probably pay the same price.
4/ It does not have to be requested. You need to prove that you have serious relationship. For example if you invite your cousin or your friend, that matters. Friendship is usually not considered as a strong relationship.
8/ Family friend is not considered as strong relationship. And you need to prove you have relationship.
9/ UK Embassy consider the economic and social realities of the country when considering visa. A person from Gambia and a person from Malaysia have different chances of not going back to their home country after the trip.
10/ Again, it is up to you to provide more valid reasons. As Kayjatta said it is not right it is priviledge to get visa.
11/ Snuggle, you need to understand, it does not have to be determined on the visa form. It is common knowledge to provide supporting documentation.
It is not lottery. It is really very difficult, but I am not sure UK officers should be blamed.

diaspora! Too many Chiefs and Very Few Indians.
Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices. |

TURK 2/ Banks statements of who? You or your friend? Your friend bank statement is more valuable to the officer than your statement.
[1/ Student going to UK now, how come if UNI just starting, visiting older male, friend of family 2/ who has not shown any funds NOT TRUE ALL MY BANK STATEMENTS SUPPLIED
3/ Flight return means nothing. If you buy one way ticket you will probably pay the same price.
Wrong If you read it Flight tickets supplied show out going and return date as they ask for a return date
4/ It does not have to be requested. You need to prove that you have serious relationship. For example if you invite your cousin or your friend, that matters. Friendship is usually not considered as a strong relationship.
That question is not asked on the application form. So how do you know. As i have said before You dont know what you dont know
8/ Family friend is not considered as strong relationship. And you need to prove you have relationship.
Again not requested on visa form
9/ UK Embassy consider the economic and social realities of the country when considering visa. A person from Gambia and a person from Malaysia have different chances of not going back to their home country after the trip.
Yep I understand that
10/ Again, it is up to you to provide more valid reasons. As Kayjatta said it is not right it is priviledge to get visa.
Again if its not asked for how do you know or what level of detail to give Yes I agree with Kayjatter and I think everyone understands that
11/ Snuggle, you need to understand, it does not have to be determined on the visa form. It is common knowledge to provide supporting documentation.
As above and if its not determined on the visa form then by that fact its a lottery
It is not lottery. It is really very difficult, but I am not sure UK officers should be blamed.
My advise is there are companies out there who deal with visa application So seek advise as previously stated www.globalvisas.com who advertise No Visa then No fee

| Snuggels, next time do not limit yourself to what the application form itself says. Most application forms have an instruction page, either attached to the form or obtainable at the relevant embassy. Refer to the instruction page and list down all the supporting documents and evidence you are required to provide with the application form. Usually that helps a lot... |

| All this is very interesting I am sure, now lets be honest instead of going round in circles,The Uk is full up, people from developing countries want to come here because benefits are available because of the welfare state and the leglislation that has been passed encourages the use of these benefits,NOW, things have changed and the government in the UK is in Debt, it has no money,SO, what to do ? problem, Tourism has become VERY important,so that must be promoted and encouraged in order to bring money into the UK,as the UK has limited other resources available now ,money shuffling is no longer profitable, banking is useless, manufacturing is a thing of the past, people are living longer, more money being paid in pensions.Integrity of government and ministers must be preserved to show that they never make mistakes and are always right,The visa system comes into play, holidays, yes, education, yes, short visits ,yes, private medical treatment, yes, but those who require visas to visit UK now have to prove that they have money to look after themselves and are not going to rely on the state to keep them.It is roumoured that bank funds are "shared" when applying for visas. There is no doubt that the poor immigration officer has now become the governments whipping boy to deal with people who want to come to the UK for things other than to bring money into the country, leaving government and ministers looking good.Again political deviousness, I hate politics! |
