Following in from the Obama's recent visit to Ghana, CNN reports on the quest of Michelle Obama to find her Afican Roots. Like so many of the TransAtlantic traded African Diaspora (including myself) experience a patchwork of family history which often hits solid blocks of no return to our African homeland's family tree.

So, being able to piece together this important period of international history is more of a collective experience for the African Diaspora. As symbolised by Alex Haley's book "Root's" central Character "Kunta Kente's geneology, which help to reinstate Gambia into the world's psyche.

Roots signified the human consequences of chattel slavery and the challenges faced by its victims. The aspirations of freedom from bondage Human and Human Rights. So from the Plantation to the White House African Americans are achieving and fulfilling dreams which very few of us ever thought were possible in our lives. Hey kunta?
