Musical genius and trendsetter he was
The one that made millions swoon
As he set to entertain
Coming out as a star
Outshining many others on the stellar stage

Star qualities exuded on stage
Followed the man into the privacy of his home
There he tried to show love
Getting hatred instead
Many reading it as evil embedded
A masquerade of sorts
Which they must unveil

Standing alone and dejected
He slides into solitude
Resurfacing for a final curtain call
Which was not be as staged
Rather he left through the side gate
To answer to a call
Which no one can ignore
For him it was an abrupt exit
All asking why and how this can be
But the star still shines on
In the skies
It came here on a solo visit
Living a stellar trail
That shall be forever remembered
Michael Jackson wanted love
He gave love but was spurned
His records showed his desire
This shall be seen on hindsight
As he leaves us in this weird world
Done is his part
As a frail human
Who never could say goodbye
But stars never die
They live on in the skies at night
To be viewed in their peaceful rests
What is left is a legacy to discern
May his soul rest in peace

What a beautiful poem Kaanibaa. This is one of few times [and I emphasise the word 'few'] that a poem actually touched my heart. I think you've summed up his public life beautifully.

Bro Kaani;

This is a very fitting poem to the super star. Legacy is an important aspect of human life. One thing that is agreed by all; that the late Michael was a renowned super star who was full of love.

Bro Tamsier,

Since the incident happened, I followed some developments about him. It is interesting to know, though he was a public icon, but had privacy. I was particulary interested in knowing more about the talk that he converted to Islam. I believe Michael's family are close and well respected in society, and I doubt one bit they will make up anything about the late Michael's life; at least, if not done while he was alive, not when he is dead. I like the way that his family, fans and the world all over are sounding about his demise. If that is to go by, Michael will be happy in his grave with his Lord, with all the prayers being rained on him. I also understand some controversies loom over certain things, and certainly this one...and the best way to reconcile on Michael's affairs, is to listen to his family, friends and close associates. Personally, I respect anyone's opinion that Michael was not a muslim, and certainly God Almighty is privy to the right answer over his faith. I doubt this should by far call for a big deal of a matter. I only hope that his brother especially Alj. J. Jackson is telling us the truth that his blood brother was indeed a muslim.

Thanks

D...

I just love his music and what ever his private life was I leave that to him as it is ; private. Going over his works I just saw a lot of concern on his part to share joy , which he did by being so intensely entertaining and going to such limits that made a lot of people watching literally swoon. He was a wondrous person whose persona is yet to be fully uncovered by us , what we saw was an exposure of excellence as permitted by the Lord . See the diamond as beautiful ,praise its qualities but never forget who created it in the first place. Michael in my opinion was one of those wonderful gifts to mankind, did we make good use of the gift or did we abuse it ,that I think is a question needing answers. I am sure there will be many other writers who can describe who he was, much better than I , but my feelings for him run so deep and in appreciation for the happiness he made me feel , I just had to write this poem as way of saying thank you to the star that he shall forever be for me.
