Dalton1,
Yusuf Islam! the man who is against freedom of speech and backed a fatwa against Salman Rusdie back in 1980s and 1990s? Are you kidding? As regards to Wallace and his gang, in their attempt to belong they took up islam without knowledge of it. Alhaji Omar Taal the jihadist! Ok he he did not directly attack the pagan of Senegambia [i.e Sereres] after he made that famous speech in 1848 - ‘the noble qualities are found the the Serere countries though they only lack Islam’ and after he repeated ordered Maba Jahou ‘to respect the ancient rites of the Sereres and to leave the people of Sine to their Pangools. If they want to convert, they will convert when they are ready’ -; however, he did launch jihads against other pagans which led to his final death. Perhaps the reason he did not directly attack the Sereres was because he was given a great welcome by King Kumba Ndoffene and the people of Sine when he had an audience with him. To then go back and try to kill them would have been considered very rude. Perhaps the only person on your list who is worthy is Sheickh Amadou Bamba - who did not use violence compared to the others [pre - 1900]. However, even he can be accused of certain acts. When King Lat Jorr Jobe was making his mind up as to whether he wanted to be a Muslim or remain a pagan, he crushed a Muslim rebellion of Njambuur after the muslims attacked the pagans. Amadou Bamba criticized Lat Jorr for his heavy handedness but said nothing when the Muslims made the first strike or continued to make strikes after strikes against the pagans. Rather one sided I say.
Anyway, I respect your opinion but do not agree with it. So we shall agree to disagree. As far as me being an Imam, NEVER! I usually say never say never, but this is one area I am certain about.
Peace.

The stealing of property, the raping of women, enslaving people and murder? Is this peace? Is this justice?
I am muslim. I did not destroy any non-muslim. I did not steal property. I did not rape any women. I did not enslave people. I did not murder anyone.
Tamsier, did you read what you are posting. And you talking about me insulting you. Shame on you. ANd now you are talking about insults based on my posts. You insult Islam at every opportunity to find then you are giving me lesson about the way I talk about your religion.
Absolutely you are 6 steps ahead of me being critical on my religion basically daily, I thought you are open to same attitude to your religion as well. I do not know about your religion because there are not many published information on the net. Point me some direction so I can learn about it. So why were your religion dominated by Islam and Christianty? Why did they gave up so easily? Looking forward to hear from you. |
diaspora! Too many Chiefs and Very Few Indians.
Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices. |

Uum! Isn’t it interesting that this article deliberate/ignorantly left out the real origin of the name 'Allah’? I will not beat about the bush. He was the Arab god of the moon [pre-Islam]. A pagan god whose wife was the sun goddess and the stars were their children. This is the origin of the name Allah and the Arabs worshipped him for centuries before the advent of Islam. I bet most African Muslim teachers left that part out when they began instilling Islamic dogma in their pupils at Daara School or when certain Muslims on this site begin insulting African animists – [one of whom will remain nameless].
I have no problem with anyone who wishes to follow this religion, but please read an academic paper thoroughly and question/criticise and cross-reference it before posting any rubbish on this site. Just because it is an academic paper does not necessarily means it is true and nothing but the truth.
