Monday, 6 April 2009 THE GOD SPOTTERS Seeing God In Your Face: by Suntou Bolonba Touray Hey wajibee , the way your foe-head shines, I can see God in your face. What? Enquire the bemused stoned man. Again the confident looking slim kaftan clad seriegn wanabe, repeats. I mean, you are not an ordinary person, your face show me something. I can see your future. Not an ordinary future. You will be successful and probably be a leader of some sort. I can see all that clearly. How, asked the man? Well, that is a knowledge God blessed me with. I can’t describe how it works. The man still confused and surprised, continue asking, but God! In my face! I am very worried now. Oh don’t be worried the travelling Seriegn said assuredly. The lecture begins with: You know my great Gran father was a Walli. I am from a family of Talibes. Our family is blessed with hidden knowledge and wisdom. We only tell good people about their future, you happen to be one of the few great men I meet these days. The man couldn't’t take the nonsense any more. He frowned and said angrily. Get away from my sight. How can you know my future and see God in my fore-head? If you have such skills and power why wondering about like a confused drunkard? The pretender Talibe got gross as well. He started swearing and making loud threats. He even threatens to send his swamp of Jinns against the bemused stranger. But alas, it was falsification and mind game at best. You may have meet or show some strange folks walking about in Serrekunda, Banjul and Dakar telling people that they see God in them. Sadly some believe in this blasphemous utterance and sometimes hand over some precious cash for nothing. No one has ever seen God and GO about telling people about it. Neither does any mortal human resemble God to the extent that insane men can see him in people. Even the prophets of GOD never see him in this life. None of the great companions and scholars of the past has ever mention doing or seeing strange things that our own contemporary fake Talibes claims to be capable of. It is stated in a clear Hadith that, the highest form of worship is fearing Allah or God as if you can see him. That statement is meant to place man in a state of complete concentration in his/her worship. It is also stated that, as soon as man stand to engage in act of worship, there the enemy Satan commence reminding people about worldly affairs, this is natural to man, as we are not in complete control of minds and senses. No one has ever seen God or his likeness, so how can some pretenders in Gambia and Senegal go about telling innocent people, I see God in your face? Observers states that, these men who go about lying to people about seeing God is due their unstable mind. This men it is said engages in devilish incantations trying to acquire unnatural powers. This Satanish incantation affects their mind and pushes them to delusion and paranoia. The interesting twist to this story is that, the early teachers of the said Talibes never lay claims to seeing God or the Prophets. Seriegn Bamba never said he show God, Nor Malick Sey, Baye Nyaas or Bukunta. How can nonsensical Talibes go about lying about the powers they gain from the doors of the past Senegambia Seriegns? To conclude, no human beings has ever seen God or can tell us how God look like, so to claim of seeing God in people’s glittering faces is as absurd as one claiming to be God. People should not even entertain listening to insane devil worshipers. Note: this peice is a reaction to claims from different people that, in our streets in Banjul and Dakar, some Talibes go about deceiving gullible SeneGambians who are too amass in marabout culture to the extent that, mad men deceives them. Some of this weird Talibes are from the area of Buduk in Senegal and other areas.

Brother this is a very interesting topic and surely many of us have fallen victim to such rubbish from charlatans and bogus marabous, it is very easy though to blame the victims for being simply gullible. I think it has to do with our upbringing and the superstitious beliefs of our various societies. We do have koranic teachers and scholars who preach pure religious doctrine but among them are others who dabble in fake practices bordering on devil worship and other associated vices which tend to make them do such dubious acts without any feelings of compassion for their victims. Others too though because of greed and the apparent gullibility of their intended victims , exploit the weaknesses clearly visible in them and get away with day light robbery.Seeing God is a fallacy and those who profess this are surely mad and need help, those who believe them too do need help, alas our society to a great extent contributed to this practice and so it needs a reorientation to cleanse itself of these ills. |

Kaani, a respectable opinion. as the mandinkas would say, "keba kumo". , please, i don't mean you are too old just too wise. You are right it is the society that breeds this knid of wrong believes. If any, Islam pride itself on dissassociating man from God in appearance and likeness, that is why, suratul Iqlas succently state "there is nothing like onto him". the bible commented that "we are made in the likeness of God". which we as muslim reject. When i discuss this topic with a Somalian scholar last friday, at first he thought i was talking about Evangelical Christian who will without hesitation say, "the spirits tells me this" meaning a revelation or premonition like message. I said to him oh no, this are carmafloulage muslims, he was shocked. Thanks again kaaniba. |

Kay, there is nothing medieval about the saga. it is all greedy and foolishness. how can you be handing over cash upon cash for marrying a devil? have the said man ever seen a devil? have he ever seen anyone that has a devil as a wife? pathetic. |

You know what brother , I have seen several guys loosing so much money from such tricksters in the Gambia. Some were told they would get their monies doubled for them, this way they lost several thousand dalasis and even their hard-earned homes in the process. The tricks include the use of third parties who appear in camouflages in remote places, very late at night , some even use corrupt police officers to break up the transactions so that they could make their getaways with the loot but making sure they dish out the officers share in advance or at a rendezvous . The victim even after this suffers another miserable time under trumped up charges only getting relief by paying hefty bribes. The gullibility and ingrained greed of our people is making many suffer. There was an instance when a guy claims he could get an old man given such riches by the devil or jinns but that he the marked victim most buy a quantity of red mercury which he alleged the said jinns love to bits. He promised that once the jinns drink the mercury they would give the man what he wants running to millions. Note that the mercury they offer is not obtainable from any where except from their own sources and this costs loads of money. This is a way of fleecing the intended victims. The victims vary from place to place and they even include white people who are also known to be greedily looking to buy gold dust from poor people whom they believe do not know the worth of their wares. In this instance a trick of letting the mark take samples of gold to be tested at his own choice gold shop , that way they become convinced that the stuff is genuine. What they don't know is that the box is filled with coarse metal and a quantity of gold is spread on the top, gold being heavy , the victim could not sift through the merchandise thoroughly enough but could just pick up a sample .Their ring leader ran a motel in Bakoteh and he had a European guy in his team who lures victims into their net. This cruel man by the way has died but his gang is still very much alive and hurting unwary victims on a daily basis. Some report their problems but a great many victims prefer to swallow their grief hiding it from people. That is why we do not hear about so many of such cases coming up for redress in court.I can tell about their tricks of money laundering which involves the show of darkened pieces of paper , which they claim they can wash or launder to turn into real money. Again placed in a briefcase are pieces of paper cut to the perfect size of a given currency, they ensure that the top layer is genuine money which they wash with a liquid. It would show a perfect dollar for the victim who will then be given that money as bait. He after a while is made to go get huge chunks of money to purchase the special liquid needed to wash the money. So many tricks but then all playing on the greed and gullibility of people, they get away with the loot.Strange isn't it! |

If human beings cannot see God; they can be inspired to get connected to God in many wonderful ways! They can see (without eyes) IT, FEEL IT & BE WITH IT 24HRS (LIFETIME)!
KNOWLEDGE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN SEEING GOD! That sura liglas is 100% clear but there is a verse in quran that interpretes that; "God is more close to you that the veins in your heart!"
KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!
ALL THROUGH MIRACLES AND ITS SOLE UNIQUE ATTRIBUTES! |

Yes human beings can see God in idols, human beings and everywhere!
No need to elaborate because religious belief and practise differs! However one needs to understands someones' logic and philosophy to accept it! |

Apparently it does say in the bible that we are made in the image of god, so therefore we should be able to see god in the faces of others. |

Black orchid, i would love to find that person who can describe how God looklike. be it philosophical, meterphisical, any how brothers. Feeling and seeing are two different things. yet there is no urthentic hadith or narrations describing how God looklike kobo. being close to us is a figure of speech. kobo. make yourself clear, have u ever seen anyone who did see God? if you do, tell us where he/she lives. I know in Gambia and else were some people claim to be God. ala the serign that Yahya threaten to jail. and in india, well every tom, dick and harry is claiming to be Gods. yet they are human who beings sleep, eat, and use the loo. they more humans thans any thing. |

Can human beings see God? Yes. In your dream. |
diaspora! Too many Chiefs and Very Few Indians.
Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices. |

I'd actually give them the benefit of doubt. Maybe their definition of "God" is slightly different from the prevalent conception of "GOD." |

if human beings can't see god, then it destroys the underlining principle of the so called great religions. As far as I know, the principle of prophecy is based on the premise that god revealed to them a commandment/idealogy. If anyone who says they've seen god is deemed mad, then what does that say about the great prophets? You can't have one rule for some and a different rule for another. |

Can you name a prophet who said he has seen God? I thought your rejection of religion is based of fact, but it seems i am wrong. The prophets were inspired by God, the revelations descend on them through the ark Angel, who convey God's message. No prophet has ever claim to have seen God. So confused men walking around tricking people on with deception should be exposed. I agree with prince, in that, people have differenct ideas of God. But even Idol worshippers who believe in Rock, Trees, Human, River, wooden Calfs etc are all means of getting to God. You can see that in many voodoo nations. They talk to the idols in order for the idol to relate to the God. they serve. |
