hello peeps, Listen up and pay attention, this is what it costs at preent to register a company as a charity, it has been my aim for a long time, but due to lots of things It didnot happen Well it is going to this is the cost or registration in Westfield, near the police on the main highway to Banjul.
the community development and this is how it goes.. payments for constitution..D200 community development recommendation..D50 commisioner of oath..D200 duty stamp..D100 tax identification number..D25 anthony general of chambers..D500 total sum...D1075 secondly they need 9 o 11 names for executive members. aims and objectives. mission and vision.
So at todays rate it should £29.00 I divided by 36. But I will add on more because my contact will have to travel. BUT, over Easter I will work on the aim/objectives, mission and vision. For ease of adminstration, I will keep it to one page. I am starting up Unicef I thought you would like this, GO BEV DO IT

Hi
I got as far as getting the information from the charity commission in uk.
I had considered it, but it is very bureaucratic. I did think being a charity might help with the fund raising element in the UK.
What would be the purpose of being registered as a charity within Gambia? |

None ( in the Gambia) Bev -
Do the paperwork in the Uk - a pain, yes - but seriously worth it for the tax back. I did this a couple of years ago and the tax back this year will give me another £2.200 to spend on projects in Gambia .....

registering in gambia, might help with publicity, respect, fund raising in the country, importing you might get tax exemption FOR ME it was about recognition, I met quite a few people onthe flight in the hoteels, and a leaflet explaing the charity in Gambia would help. IT IS an identity thing, also I have nothing to loose, who ever you put in charge in Gambia this would help them. i thought a corporate image might be taken seriously

I understand your point completely Jambo and it definitely works for some I agree. I'm not good at overt publicity and so it wouldn't suit my approach. But yes, a good idea for some bigger types of charities and projects. |

Hi lily, i wasn't even thinkging aboutthe bigger charities, just if i register the name, then a bank account, have some business cards printed here for use in Gambia. It just gives an air of being together, formal and not haphazard. for too long I have had bad feelings about they way administration works in gambia. SO , it makes sense to look professional and LEGAL, then no-one could point the finger and moan. ALSO for the local community if a sign is printed it is nice to see the words REGISTERED
