FORTUNATELY not ALL men are like that! Most are nice, decent, kind, loving and good. Unlike alot of feminists I have a high opinion of MOST men...until proven otherwise...... I am a feminist that LIKES men. I just want to have the same opportunities in life and to be treated equally and with respect..... |

Speaking of feminism: I believe one canīt deny that there are some biological differences between men and women, even if some feminists claim there are non. |

Of course there are differences.....But I believe in equality of opportunity. Don't use the differences as an excuse to suppress women. |

All I said is that in my opinion there are biological differences between men and women when it comes to sexuality and that men in general are more easily tempted than women and that is why they are more likely to cheat. Yes, some men really just think with their ballz and also some women. Not saying all men are bad, just that infidelity can happen IF the time and place is right. Didnīt mean this to become a question of feminism. No doubt that discrimination of women in the society is wrong and I have said that many times before, but that is not the point here. I donīt find my view of women having a lower sexdrive discriminating or suppressing women. Some women are out there playing the field right now and have a very high sexdrive, but I donīt think that is very usual and that those women actually may have more testosteron in their veins than other women?

I absolutely agree with you Babylon!
But what about female circumcision? The main reason why this is performed is to take the woman's "drive"......
Gambiabev,I know these things happen everywhere, but it depends to what degree. Here, it has gone aout of control. I have lived in Gambia with my family, and I know that there are good and bad everywhere. But Gambia is very different.Poligamy is legal and normal, how can we coompare this with cheating here? And yes, I agree, these things do occur, but it is not accepted in society like here.So it happens less often, people still have more discipline and respect.

Gambiabev, I totally agree with you. Polygamy IS legalised cheating. The very first question I asked on the gambia culture forum was about this as my friend has suffered because of the belief of legalised cheating.

But really, how can polygamy be cheating if everyone involved are aware of that the husband is having several wives? If itīs not done behind someones back, can it be called cheating? |

Is faithfulness considered an essential quality for a marriage to survive in Africa? In uk although alot of people fail and end up in divorces it is still considered desirable.
stereotypes, stereotypes and more stereotypes!! Gambev, the African notion of pure and good are very different with the western view of pure and good. i think before whites came along, virginity in a woman or a man was not a big deal and still is not. i don't even know if there is a word for virgin in wolof, if there is can someone tell me. the western female dream of finding true love, and the man "deflowering her" is not something us African women(girls, in my case) dream about; it's not part of our culture. |

Here she comes again. I just love this angry little girl. Virginity in Wolof is "ndow". If a girl lost her virginity, she lost her "ndow". There are other words for it too, but this is enough. |
