Mr. Halake's claim in his "London Letters" that the American economy has gone communist is over-blown. The U.S. economy is not a pure capitalist economy in the first place, it has mixed features of both capitalist and socialist strands. Over the years various U.S. governments have intervened during difficult times to stabilize the economy, but no rational thinker will call that communism. Private ownership is still the driving force of the American economy. Dida Halake calls his detention in the Gambia an "easy ride"? And maintained that he "did not do anything wrong"? Well there is no such thing as an easy-ride-detention especially if you have not done anything wrong. The fact is that your freedoms are taken away from you while in detention; that is what makes detention no easy ride... Those of us who sympathized with Mr. Halake (despite his sycophancy at the Daily Observer)during his detention are amazed that he regressed to pandering to Jammeh's regime instead of condemning him for unlawfully trampling on his rights as well as others ...
Kay, did you forget about self-interest phycology? the man has a property back there so don't blame him. even if he was bartered, he would say jammeh is an angel. the Gambia is his second home and unless i am wrong, he is married to a gambian. you are right, how can the u.s economy go communist, that is far fetch my dear. remember the comfort zone! being able to freely go back and forth to the gambia is every thing he can't loose.
Surah- Ar-Rum 30-22 "And among His signs is the creation of heavens and the earth, and the difference of your languages and colours. verily, in that are indeed signs for men of sound knowledge." Qu'ran
You are perfectly right Santafara. Halake's motives are in deed clear as you mentioned. He has a house in the Gambia and married a gambian woman so he can't afford to tell jammeh to "shut up" like he told Rawlings to...
