What a difficult momentum and soul-touching story. About the medians. They are not anymore interesting about what real is going on in the ground ,their general views are just cursorily. just where the money comes in and where the people are interest of. and the world are not ready for the equality. Well, the African medians are not that much different and i think it is the same content why they didnt cover it up, more over the African politician may also be behind all that rubbish , one thing we all know is that they have a lot in common with south east Asians nations .they could even interdict the median because some may be discouraged to follow the others through that hell trips.
China are well knowing about their singularity life's and living. as they said , they go just forward without looking left or right. As newly trick's to the IOC about having free Internet accessory and now thing seems looking different.
Lets wait and see how they will react if Obama gets to the white house and visit them.
It is just sad for our world that is so mixed together like glue. |

I have been mailing to some media asking whether they have seen any reports as mentioned above. I have not received any answer, but coincidentally, my daily newspaper, DN published a letter from their China correspondent this morning. In short it says
Blacks forced away from Beijing´s bar streets before Olympic Games. The police raided with drawn weapons a bar on the most well known side street with bars in Sanlitun, Beijing in order to clean the streets from drug dealers before Olympic Games. All guests with black skin colour, most of them young men, were asked to line up outside the door. They were photographed and then taken to police station.
This incident took place in April, told one of the involved to the journalist. It´s not known if drugs were found on that occasion but bar owners claim that many of the drug dealers are from Nigeria.
Before the Games the police has done everything to clean up the area through several raids. Street vendors, beggars, drug dealers and prostitutes have disappeared from the area.
According to South China Morning Post, he writes further, have bar owners been forced to sign documents prohibiting them from serving black guest during the Games. Authorities deny it and no bar owner has confirmed it. But several within and around this area say that they know Chinese police dislike Africans because of their involvement in drugs. That makes that everybody with black skin colour feel pointed out.

How ironic when most of the best performances at the games will be by black atheletes!
Blatent heavy handed racism.
Remember this African governments when you are inviting China in to trade with you. |

Serenata,
i dont think that the story is true, as it doesnt lead to anything. if you follow the links to other stories it just runs around.nothing concrete. Secondly the original article mentions Mongolians...
but i doubt if its true.
Racism in China is not out of step compared to racism in Europe/Australian where institutional racism exists as well!. i have met gambians who have been to China and they enjoyed it, had no problem. In Europe contact with Africans is more than 400 yrs old this cannot be compared to China to the point that it has to be a criteria/obstacle to Trade.
i'm sure the people of China would, proof to the world that they can host a fantastic games, and that the people of China will indeed support African/black athletes.

Njucks
I have the utmost respect for you, but I think you may be wrong about the Chinese. Have a look at the posting again. This has also been confirmed to me by a reliable source. Anyway lets agree to disagree.

Oops - black Mongolians?
I agree, njucks: I am sure the Chinese can host nice games.
I am so tired of the Western propaganda. Since I was a child they try to manipulate me (like every other person in the world): First with desinformation about Communists (USSR, GDR, Cuba, Viet-Cong etc.), then they discovered a new 'enemy', a new 'peril': Islam and the Muslims (From Ayatollah Khomeini to Al Qaida). Now we have the Chinese. OK. What's next? "They keep us hypnotized and hysterical" (The Neville Brothers)
I know that the Chinese authorities are really repressive. But I repeat: I don't think they are stupid enough to give racist orders in public.

Ouf course Chinese are not stupid (to do it in public, it was never ment to be).
But, if these articles are "western propaganda", how come they were first published in Shanghaist and South China Morning Post? The papers are not based in China? They have been infiltrated by western journalists? They have been hacked?

There is a saying in the newspaper world I have been told that is "Bad news sells more papers than good news" Yep......... its all about money, Did it happen ? I don't know, but, it must be true because the newspaper said so,and we all know that newspapers tell the truth don't we! |

yeap! two years back a british newspaper published that British soldiers were abusing Iraqi prisons-even published photos!
turned out to be a lie. the Editor had to go. I'm sure China has its bad press too like everywhere. If this story is not true, as i said earlier, i pray for the editor.
however it is normal practice in the western media to show the other side of a country when an event is being hosted there. In 2002, the Earth Summit in South Africa most of the journalist were focusing on poverty in townships etc.
i'm sure they will do the same in 2010, during the World Cup, people will talk about poverty, crime in SA. perhaps even Zimbabwe!
we however note with interest that the 2012 Olympics will be in London, i hope we all live to see what the Western Media will come up with, to throw the spotlight on a Western City. Perhaps ''Insitutional Racism in Scotland Yard'' or racism from a mayor who calls Africans ''picaninnies''

This is really interesting, but where did you find anything about Blacks?
I am sure that in this case 'black' meant 'criminal' and not 'African'.
I don't think that the Chinese authorities are angels; as anybody knows Chinas human rights politics are disgraceful. I am just warning to fall for hysteria fueled by those who have a skeleton in their closet. |

Sorry I didnt post it to confirm the story, just to show people that there is a reputable charity organisation concerned about China, not just media stories. |
