Reports monitored here have it that many visa applicants have been kept waiting for weeks on end without any sort of info(feedback) coming frm the high commission regarding their applications.
Most of these applicants were supposed to attend the graduation ceremonies of their loved ones, family and friends.

All kinds of rumours are currently being peddled in Bjl. Whatever may happen the commission has no right watsoever to accept applications knowing fully well that it would take an unstipulated time to process these applications. They should be decent enough to return their monies. Anything less than that is fraud!

Madiba, you know fully well that anything to do with government permissions take a VERY LONG TIME to get, they have the power, western governments hope that Africa immigration will just go away, its not like going to a shop and buying a loaf of bread, governments give money back? Er....No.
What the High commission in Banjul should do is to post a notice stating that visa applications will be dealt with within 1 month, thats fair, you will be told that your application has been granted or not granted, monies will not be refunded (thats well known anyway)Problem solved. If you wish to apply on thiose terms fine.

Toubab,

Your first two lines are not quite clear . could you be more explicit?

As far as i know there is no such notice on their walls /gates or their site.
Why am asking for a refund, is based on moral grounds. Knowing fully well that people are likely to fail in their application thru no fault of theirs(no time notice), yet you go ahead with processing their applications is FRAUD!

Please read my words in the first two lines again .I cannot put things more clearly sorry.

As regards your refund governments don't give money back, you give them money, thats how it works. The notice is not posted at all it was only my suggestion that BHC in Banjul could adopt if they were so minded but they would have to suggest it to London, and guess what London woiuld take a VERY LONG time to reply,if ever, any further enquiry would be greated with the response "Oh sorry its mislaid or lost between departments please resubmit".Cynical I know

Toubab, since you can't explain any further , then groping is permissible?

I know that in most cases in gov't transactions fees are non-refundable. However in this case, my argument is that even as ur lines suggest there could be changes in the pipeline, the BHC SHOULD NOT apply LAW/CONDITION which is yet to be ratified by the powers that be in London. How can they explain the fact that, they would still be accepting applications from applicants, knowing fully well that these poor souls would have to wait in limbo for a decision that could go against them anyway. This is becos these applicants are asking for visitors visa which SHOULD be based on PURPOSE and DURATION. In these cases PURPOSE = Graduation Ceremonies and DURATION= Less than or Equal to 2weeks. Am 100% if these applicants were told that they would be waiting indefinitely for their visas they or their sponsors would not have bothered anyway.

I still maintain my belief that if these people are refused which most would defintely be, BHC has CLEARLY robbed them.

This has never been the case for the recent past.

OK. I understand what you are saying, I would agree with that,I was trying to highlight the fact that government departments are never the quickest to respond, those who deal with the public are not in touch with the bigger bosses who say yes or no,it's all about current political policy (I hate politics!)BHC in Gambia is a small dot on the globe of policy in relation to visitors and immigrants, the UK has had problems in the past with immigrants arriving and living on benefits( or just disappearing ) which are funded from those people in work,it is also fair to say that its not only immigrants who fall into this slot some of those born in Britain as well, the voters don't like that situation, politicians also have a problem that there are large numbers of immigrants here who are voters and have political power.Work is very hard to find in this slide into recession. So what do the politicians do ? answer, nothing, they don't make any decision that could make any voter unhappy, they instead talk about green issues, drink related matters, the price of gas, here again the blame culture comes in,drink, blame the people for drinking too much, green matters, blame the people for not recycling enough, gas prices, blame the speculators, but in any event shift responsibility away from yourself.Gordon Brown, prime example recently talked about food waste and what did he do? the following day he travelled and was treated to a vast feast! (politics, I hate politics!!)
