Travelling from Barcelona to Alicante by train a short time ago I picked up a copy of El Pais reporting about the death of 14 migrants outside Almeria attempting to reach the Spanish mainland. They died of hunger, 9 of them were small children aged one to four, whose bodies were thrown overboard. They are said to be from Senegal, Gambia, Cameron, Nigeria and Kenya. Spanish patrol boat rescued 33 people and one body. According to Red Cross, condition on the vessel were awful.

Just two days earlier, another 14 people were missing and presumed dead outside Motril, while 23 people were pulled out of the water. Three other migrant boats with 139 people were discovered outside Almeria the same night.

Almost at the same time, a small cayuco was discovered outside the island of La Gomera, carrying 59 migrants, four dead bodies laying mixed with those alive. Their conditions were so bad that cranes had to be used to lift the passengers ashore. Two more died later. The survivors told that they had departed two weeks earlier from Guinea Bissau with people from Gambia, Senegal and Mauritania.
Watch the awful pictures, if you dare http://www.elpais.com/fotogaleria/Tragica/llegada/cayuco/Gomera/5638-2/elpgal/

International observers have stated that GPS devices used in the boats are bought in a shopping centre in Las Palmas and then brought to Senegal and Mauritania. On departure they are directed to southern Tenerife but can easily stop working due to wetness or ignorans.
Those arranging the transports doesnīt always follow the ships, they instruct some of the passengers to drive the boat, which means that the one be arrested in Spain is not the criminal

This is a matter that should be VERY WELL reported in the press and RADIO of all African Nations
those from poor countries are lured by bad people to think that Europe is made of Gold and everyone is rich,(not so!!), let the people be told the truth about trying to reach Europe by small boat.

You are so right Toubab1020. As I have mentionen earlier, there is a documentary with the title "Cayuoco" produced with the view to informing about the danger and hyped expectations. I have mailed GRTS several times offering them the documentary but they donīt even answer. I take it that they just are not interested.
