This is from an e-mail circular that hit my mailbox.
I know it is going to be contentious, so i hope people can look at it without getting aggressive and actually air their inner feelings, if they think it is worth commenting on.

IT IS NOT MY VIEW, OPINION OR WORK!!!

"THE SILENT MAJORITY"

THOUGH RATHER RAW, THIS DESERVES A MINUTE OR TWO
TO READ AND FORWARD. (author unknown)

A man whose family was Jewish German aristocracy
prior to World War Two owned a number of large
industries and estates. When asked how many German
people were true Nazis, the answer he gave can
guide our attitude toward fanaticism.

'Very few people were true Nazis 'he said,' but
many enjoyed the return of German pride, and many
more were too busy to care. I was one of those
who just thought the Nazis were a bunch of fools.
So the majority just sat back and let it all
happen. Then, before we knew it, they owned us,
and we had lost control, and the end of the world
had come. My family lost everything. I ended up
in a concentration camp and the Allies destroyed
my factories.'

We are told again and again by 'experts' and
'talking heads' that Islam is the religion of
peace, and that the vast majority of Muslims just
want to live in peace.

Although this unqualified assertion may be true,
it is entirely irrelevant. It is meaningless
fluff, meant to make us feel better, and meant to
somehow diminish the spectre of fanatics rampaging
across the globe in the name of Islam. The fact is
that the fanatics rule Islam at this moment in
history.

It is the fanatics who march. It is the fanatics
who wage any one of 50 shooting wars worldwide It
is the fanatics who systematically slaughter
Christian or tribal groups throughout Africa and
are gradually taking over the entire continent in
an Islamic wave. It is the fanatics who bomb,
behead, murder, or honour kill. It is the fanatics
who take over mosque after mosque. It is the
fanatics who zealously spread the stoning and
hanging of rape victims and homosexuals.

The hard quantifiable fact is that the 'peaceful
majority' the 'silent majority' is cowed and
extraneous.

Communist Russia comprised Russians who just
wanted to live in peace, yet the Russian
Communists were responsible for the murder of
about 20 million people. The peaceful majority
were irrelevant.

China's huge population, it was peaceful as well,
but Chinese Communists managed to kill a
staggering 70 million people.

The average Japanese individual prior to World War
2 was not a warmongering sadist. Yet, Japan
murdered and slaughtered its way across South East
Asia in an orgy of killing that included the
systematic murder of 12 million Chinese civilians;
most kille d by sword, shovel and bayonet.

And, who can forget Rwanda , which collapsed into
butchery. Could it not be said that the majority
of Rwandans were 'peaceful & loving'?

History lessons are often incredibly simple and
blunt, yet for all our powers of reason we often
miss the most basic and uncomplicated of points:
Peace-loving Muslims have been made irrelevant by
their silence. Peace-loving Muslims will become
our enemy if they don't speak up, because like my
friend from Germany , they will awake one day and
find that the fanatics own them, and the end of
their world will have begun.

Peace-loving Germans, Japanese, Chinese, Russians,
Rwandans, Serbs, Afghans, Iraqis, Palestinians,
Somalis, Nigerians, Algerians, and many others
have died because the peaceful majority did not
speak up until it was too late.

As for us who watch it all unfold; we must pay
attention to the only group that counts; the
fanatics who threaten our w a y of life.

Lastly, at the risk of offending, anyone who
doubts that the issue is serious and just deletes
this email without sending it on, can contribute
to the passiveness that allows the problems to
expand So, extend yourself a bit and send this on
and on and on!! Let us hope that thousands, world
wide, read this - think about it - and send it

Lurker, I dont know who sent you this, but I whole heartedly agree with most of it. Silence is a contributory root to all evil. Your posting raised good points, I wish you luck with the fall outs.

I am sure it will, though the authors forget to mention all those fanatic Western Anti-Muslims, Anti-Communists, etc... Interesting that except for the Nazis they only speak of non-Western systems ("As for us who watch it all unfold; we must pay attention to the only group that counts; the fanatics who threaten our w a y of life").

But it is a fact that Western politicians start raids (e.g. the Iraq war) in our, the silent Western majority's name, and in our, the silent Western majority's name they guard - even with weapons - the major corporations' exploitation of poorer countries.

I wonder if she had read this piece ?:

BBC uncovers lost Iraq billions
By Jane Corbin
BBC News

A BBC investigation estimates that around $23bn (£11.75bn) may have been lost, stolen or just not properly accounted for in Iraq.

The BBC's Panorama programme has used US and Iraqi government sources to research how much some private contractors have profited from the conflict and rebuilding.

A US gagging order is preventing discussion of the allegations.

The order applies to 70 court cases against some of the top US companies.

War profiteering

While Presdient George W Bush remains in the White House, it is unlikely the gagging orders will be lifted.

To date, no major US contractor faces trial for fraud or mismanagement in Iraq.

The president's Democratic opponents are keeping up the pressure over war profiteering in Iraq.

Henry Waxman, who chairs the House committee on oversight and government reform, said: "The money that's gone into waste, fraud and abuse under these contracts is just so outrageous, it's egregious.

"It may well turn out to be the largest war profiteering in history."

In the run-up to the invasion, one of the most senior officials in charge of procurement in the Pentagon objected to a contract potentially worth $7bn that was given to Halliburton, a Texan company which used to be run by Dick Cheney before he became vice-president.

Unusually only Halliburton got to bid - and won.

Missing billions

The search for the missing billions also led the programme to a house in Acton in west London where Hazem Shalaan lived until he was appointed to the new Iraqi government as minister of defence in 2004.

He and his associates siphoned an estimated $1.2bn out of the ministry. They bought old military equipment from Poland but claimed for top-class weapons.
Meanwhile they diverted money into their own accounts.

Judge Radhi al-Radhi of Iraq's Commission for Public Integrity investigated.

He said: "I believe these people are criminals.

"They failed to rebuild the Ministry of Defence, and as a result the violence and the bloodshed went on and on - the murder of Iraqis and foreigners continues and they bear responsibility."

Mr Shalaan was sentenced to two jail terms but he fled the country.

He said he was innocent and that it was all a plot against him by pro-Iranian MPs in the government.

There is an Interpol arrest warrant out for him but he is on the run - using a private jet to move around the globe.

He stills owns commercial properties in the Marble Arch area of London.

Panorama: Daylight Robbery will be on BBC One at 9pm on Tuesday 10 June 2008.

Iraqi war was about economy. There are shorter impact on western economies. But in the long run, getting iraqi oil was good for western economy. Do you know why? The answer is Dim Sum and tikka masala. By year 2025, china and india will demand more than 50 % of oil. Why do you think oil is coming to 200 dollars? Because of increasing demand. The increse cost have more impact on developing countries than developed countries because western world economy is more established and stable. So

diaspora! Too many Chiefs and Very Few Indians.

Halifa Salah: PDOIS is however realistic. It is fully aware that the Gambian voters are yet to reach a level of political consciousness that they rely on to vote on the basis of Principles, policies and programmes and practices.

We are told again and again by 'experts' and
'talking heads' that Islam is the religion of
peace, and that the vast majority of Muslims just
want to live in peace.

By the above caption only I can discern a slanted view of the author, who is full of hatred for Islam. He/she has the freedom of saying this but the fact remains that the majority of moslems are peaceful, where uprisings occur the causes are to be examined and blames apportioned to the perpetrators instead of generalizing blame on the whole of Islam or moslems.Take the Palestine issue for instance, the poor people were forced from their land and made to become fugitives and disenfranchised persons who have no right of reclaiming their property to wit their land ,with no one listening to their cause they resort to stone throwing whilst the Israeli fire rockets and bullets at them. Yes occasionally you see rifle toting men and explosive-clad people attack the other side, which is seen or depicted as acts of terrorism et al. When it is being discussed by the press or their detractors they are described as Islamic fanatics as opposed to freedom fighters. This position is highly tenuous and incorrect as they may be moslems but their position in the actual setting is that of freedom fighters as it is in the case of others who in their locality ranging from the ETA, IRA or South American fighters etc fight their various causes, and who I daresay are not given religious tags.
Islam is a religion for peace and preaches peace, those who are opposed to Islam would and could pose all kinds of attack against it and they shall fail, Tell me which religion exists without resisting it being foiled especially those bent on the use of force. I can even see the Tibetans resisting the same , peaceful is the method some claim but I saw actual confrontation during the Olympic flame marches, and blood was drawn.
