Kay thanks for the appreciation of the poem. You are always there to give insightful commentaries on all poems. You are not wrong, the writer is a true 'son of the soil' , i have lived all of it before for many many yrs. Even when i had to leave home to pursue higher education and work in the urban areas i always returned to the cradle to the live the natural way. Loved and still love it. One of the most remarkable feelings i have is wen in the morning i approach the cattle and most of the adult cattle stand up as in giving me a guard of honour. The first cow on my entrance of the herd, gets a stroke or pat from me. There was this bond between me and them. Many a times a calf would walk up to where am sitted or standing and start to lick me. It natural affection kay.
I think Mansasuluu, said something abt the experience of a gainako being beneficial today. Indeed, as gainako one will learn to be tolerant and affectionate. This is becos one has to be patient to communicate with animals that can't talk like us humans. In addition one will certainly be fit. If one is not trekking behind the herd, singing or whilsting, one is jogging or making a fast 400m dash to prevent some cow from entering farms. One covers many kilometres everyday. Then come back in the evening and milk the cows squatting. |

You know it is a pleasure to have the chance to look at your writings and comment on them. Literary criticism is not an exact science, but it gives me (an amateur) the opportunity to get into the writer's mind and see his/her ideas, philosophy (his/her world view), and attitudes about life and the world around him/her. Thanks always for sharing your works with us. |
