JUNGLE JUSTICE

Jimmy the lion king
Sat unjust
Usurping the throne
Of the jungle kingdom
Day of his reign
Marked by joyous welcome
The unwary subjects throng the way

He joined them in a square
Holding hands with his court
Loudly claiming the end of tyranny
The unwary subjects
Clap their hands
All hopeful of changes

Then comes the days of reality
As Jimmy sat firmer on the throne
Holding court as he wished
Decrees minted at his whim
In the jungle where he reigns
Mute subjects
Watch in fright as
Jimmy dispenses his justice
Justice of peace
Peace for the strong that is

Promises were made
None political calls
At rallies abound
Allaying fears
Whilst jailing detractors
Detention was a disgrace
Now it is a national honor
A badge to be won by the bold
Cowards and hypocrites swoon
Prophesying greater times to come
When the opponents shall be put to shame

In Jimmy's justice
Pain is the pay package
Of the meek
The weak
Who most suffer
For being negative
This king has no mercy
All he knows is psychopathies

Jimmy the Lion king reminds me of Baba Galleh’s satiric prose when he used terms like “general loony” in his piecing ‘work. Perhaps this one “Jungle justice” is not as complex as your other poems. For one, it is within geographical boundary though can be applicable wherever it happens. Two, the subject matter made it obvious. Three, the message delivered talked about a failed struggle resembling the one under Gambia’s microscopic eye -tyranny. The characters as well as the title are very well fitting to theme under discourse.

The jungle king through conquest of a realm was celebrated by the people of the nation upon arrival, partly because of life’s hope to end the prior sufferings. It turns out to be the worst as he sits on his throne splashing hot water on his subordinates –leaving no one safe. The message delivered depicted a tyrannical administration characterized by false promises, decrees, and iron-fist reigning. These decrees are used as the standards for jungle justice. In short, Son of Haile would have politically said “Jammeh’s whims and caprices.” Caprice!!

Regards,
Dalton

May I just spice this up Bro Dalton.I agree with your review thanks again.

NATIONAL PLEDGE

Did that we deed
The people by mutual consent
Anywhere pledge
To uphold this creed
For the common good
Paramount of all else decreed
Is our willingness to deed
Holding high and lofty
That seal of His Grace
Mighty God of the land

We in Unity
Did that we deed
Disclaim all our rights
Giving up our freedoms in totality
Yielding with trust blindly
His guidance
Faultless is His Majesty

Ergo he dispenses justice
As defined by him
Dreaming and scheming for us
His Royal right
Handed to him on a diamond platter
Decorated by God Most High?

On that pedestal
He promotes
Or demotes
Whomever he chose
Burying some to 'essfeet' depths
Others hiding forever
Others yet too had to flee
The wrath of His Majesty
Leaving us no choice
But pray
So help us God

ameena! ameena!

Your pularr is not at all hitching. I am amazed the level at which you can express yourself in it.

Now, we need a poem about God and his messenger.

Bro Kaniibaa,

Actually Rainbow one is excellent. It looks like to me, you were talking about Adam & Hawa/eve, or something similar where the twins were sinners. Ps. break it down.

I am happy for you. On my grandfather side, we have Jola relatives. Some of them live in Bullock, Foni.

Regards,
YJ

As a child I enjoyed the stories that my aunt used to recount. They covered topics covering ethics, family life and good neighborliness,or bravery and romance. This was about the old African explanation of how the rain bow came into being. It was accompanied by a beautiful song which i shall try to get from home and share. The child that I was being so curious ,gave my aunt hell with the incessant questions about things around me so she tried to educate or satisfy my curiosity via story telling mostly before I go to bed.Nice days! ,Ah!Bless her , as she died years ago and this story was a reminder of our life together.May her soul rest in perfect peace, ameen.
