Emjay,
I am sure you followed up the revelations about the transfer of observer from Amadou Samba, whom the Gov't use to get it from the owner they deprted to Liberia.
Also, you shouldn't doubt that the paper belongs to jammeh (even personally.) The occupation of senior positions like Momodou Sanyang, Sajar Taal (all political prostitutes) have some lesson to tell any Gambian. This is a propaganda tool for the APRC on their evils.
Look at the way they are reporting the -NADD issues, esp the ongoing trial -Justice Paul vindication -the bi-elections (recently completed) -the sacked individuals etc..
They are ignoring relevant information, that as Gambians, they should have been patriotic enough to tell the whole world.
When they wrote about Halifa hiding away, they never cleared the air back, after it was confirmed by the whole world that it was all mere lies.
They will never critise jammeh or question about his doings.
Recently jammeh took to Hajj, over 300 people. That was reported on that paper, and questions about where he got that money from was never raised.
Lets do some maths. 300xD70,000.00 (hajj package per one person) = 21 million dalasis.
Where the hell on earth , in his life time- will he get 21 million. Not from his salary.
Even those liars FJC and Yankuba Touray, had shifted their hypocrisy to the point, and that's how much garbage the observer is today.
All former writers to this paper will attest to this fact, until last month a compilation by Fatou Jaw Manneh, regarding comments by DA Jawo, Baba Galleh, Pa Samba etcc.. tell you nuts about observer.
I have respect for many of its writers, most of whom were my juniors or comrades in school, but i tell you, in situations like this, one should relinguish their positions, and remain free from the blames of society.
If you don't know Sajar Taal, ask others- they will tell you. He is injected with the jammeh virus, with more concentration than Momodou Sanyang.
The duty of jounalists is to oppose Gov'ts in all the evil they do. The society need to be free, and journalists should serve as a voice for the weak, the oprressed, and the voiceless.
Until such a time, any deceive themselves in their efforts to be selfish and self centered, in sinking a nation.
You watch to see how they will be reporting issues when elections are near. If there is any sickness or tick i have in my life is this observer paper.
