Under an hour ago, i had the opportunity to speak to Hon. Sallah, I have to say he is unshaken, he is more determine today than ever before to stand by the people for our common cause.
As Hon. Sallah put it, "We got to continue the struggle against oppression at all levels until we can achieve, people's democratic soceity, a free Gambia and people"
Brothers ...... victory is in the horizon, it sad but some of us might not be here to witness sweetness of victory, as the Bikos in south Africa, Ghandis in India, King Jr. in America but as a people we shall succeed in transforming the negative extreme of the dark past in to positive extremes of a bright future. The future is bright but there is not time-line for brightness to reach our people, for we have to invoke it, and i have no doubt we are on the right path.
Peace my brothers

| Dear all, I have known Halifa Ababacar Sallah, Serigne Mbye for over 30 years. He is a most dedicated person and one of the most single minded persons I have known in my life. In past writings over the years, I have been critical of some of the stands he has taken but I have never found course to disrespect him. I am convinced that Junkung faces now his most ardent challenger. Halifa started his activism at a very early age. He was one of the first and few Banjulians to be disenchanted with the clientelism politics of the PPP, could never accept the laisser faire and anything goes politics of that Jawara era. After leaving the Gambia for studies in the US at a tender age, around 15, I believe in Form 3 or 4,Halifa studied in I believe Howard University, a champion of the the weak against the mighty, Halifa became so politically active and agitated so much that the US deemed it tactically to send him home. Halifa was returned to the Gambia, a political deportee from the bastion of freedom and civil liberties, he has never been violent but the seeds of his ability to organize and raise political awareness were noted and thus began what was Jawara's problem and now confronts Junkung in our hour of need. First working as a sociologist at the Department of Social Welfare, Halifa started organizing socially aware plays centered around Gambian psyche and social life. He sought to influence and change attitudes. Later arrested for printing and distributing illegal pamphlets calling for the overthrow of the PPP regime, Halifa was arrested together with Sam Sarr and both were dismissed from the civil services, even though in one of the best political moves, Sir Dawda did not prosecute them for subversive activities. Halifa then founde Foroyaa and PDOIS, which are renowned for socially progressive and social ideology, despite their poor showings in the polls. Halifa in typical Marxist Leninist school of thoought understood the dynamics of revolution and social change. He foresaw the political crises of the PPP that followed the economic crises of the last 1980s due to the Senegalese border blockade, his FOROYAA was the leading ideology adopted by the 1994 putschists, but Junkung and the AFPRC were false prophets. Halifa rightly and pruriently decided not to join the AFPRC government, his stance still then was more anti PPP than the young THUGS that took over the State. Junkung in his classical hypocritical way, promised a proper transition to a more representative and informed democracy and Halifa was at the forefront of the civic education agenda, true to his long founded belief that only an informed people are masters of their destiny as required in a true democracy. Today, Halifa has outgrown his aversion for the PPP and its cadres, joined hands with his nemesis and long time adversary, Omar Jallow, to fight Junkung who has become the single biggest threat to the security and survival of the Gambian nation. I salute Halifa Sallah, I salute OJ and I salute Waa Juwara, I salute Ousainou Darbo, I salute all our compatriots in the struggle for the survival of our dear nation. I pray God Bless and Strengthen them in this fight of good over evil. May Almighty God Grant us victory over the devil and his lietenants, Yaya Junkung Jemus Jahanama and all his followers. Peace |
