Thanks Serenata. i enjoyed the character myself and laughed a lot behind the screen. |
“When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it--always.” |

Sankofa is a real character. I have one sankofa neighbour where I live. I have a friend who is a carbon copy of sankofa. I was always laughting when ever I read his postings because I was exactly relating his comments to the level of perception of my neighbour about yaya.
My neighbour thinks that yaya is not capable of making mistakes or wrong doings. Sometimes my friends and myself think he is faking himself. However, I always knew that sankofa was faking his believes abour jammeh. I still revisit his postings and enjoy it like new postings. Kons you are intelligent and funny. Long live you!! |

You can see paralells of sankofa during campaigns. In fact there was a big sankofa in the Jawara regime. He was a memeber of parliament who once said that " to every nation, God had sent a Prophet, to the people of Israel he sent Moses and to the gambia he sent Jawara". He was an MP and i beieve he was in Lamin or Brikama. He is now a strong advocate of APRC and did serve in the government but i am not sure if his honey moon lasted a moment. What a contradiction. I am not sure if he genuinely believed what he said about Jawara.
These extereme statements can cloud one's judgement and dangerous to any constructive debate. We should all guard against it whether in governmemnt or in opposition. As Serenata said, uncritical supporters of any leader is not welcomed. We have to be able to see and put all our leaders to a test so that they not put wool over our faces. |

Sankofa is resting afetr a big wrestling match in Kanilai and he broke his hip. Unfortunately the big Buhaba is busy questioning the plotters himself and Sankofa is angry. He is making the magic water himself hoping to be like him. His medical condition is getting worse and he is now waking up to reality that not all that glitters is gold. he is experiencing the same predicament that his "opponent" are facing. The drugs are not on the shelves and blames the Nurses for giving them to NADD.
He still thinks it is the opposition that slaughteredd a black cat so that he broke his hip and vows to revenge. The unfortunate thing is that he is gradually loosing his influence and might join big brother Baba at the 5-Star Hotel (Mile 2 ). |

kondorong, i have seen a real sankofa before. This one is real. The old man is the chairman of the PPP in a particular village. He lives just around the BANTABA( where do normally had meetings). When Sheriff Dibba and his entourage came around, this old man put cloth in his ears just not to hear them. But if he accidenlty heard anything,he cried loud saying you are accusing him, he never(jawara)does that kind of thing.
At some point Jawara wants to send him to mecca he refused, saying BABA am not following you to give me something. But at the end they persuaded him to go. He was a real sankofa character. |

On www.sankofa-hh.de/symbolik I found something about the word Sankofa (I try to translate from German): "Sankofa is the bird trying to catch its lost egg. The meaning of this West African Symbol derives from the Ashanti proverb: 'Look at your past, and you will know your future'. Sankofa ('Go back and rescue it!') is the Ghanaian word for the concept of 'Back to the roots'.
It is also a sign for turnaround, meaning it is never too late to go back and run another path once you recognize you made a mistake. Sankofa means interest in history and respect for the ancestors".
You chose the name wisely, and the traditional Ghanaian Sankofa symbol is very beautiful!

You did a very good research about sankofa. I used the character to redeem it from extreme political inclinations and once again see the way forward. Eventually sankofa will "go back for it".
The character is not meant to die since going back for your roots is always nourishing and energising and so is sankofa's hyper-active tendencies in ploitics |

This hyper-active child needs treatment, and I think The Bantaba can provide it. I am very much interested in regular bulletins (how is his broken hip doing?) or Sankofa's own contributions, from which we can see if his poor mind is recovering or not |
