yes, we have all expressed our views on Jammeh, and most of agree that his government is not only corrupt, it is also murderous - which is unacceptable - its one thing to be corrupt, but to kill our people at whim, that is something i can NEVER, NEVER tolerate. so the man must go.
now, what i'm looking for is suggestions of what we, us Gambians outside of Gambia, away from yaya's paws, can do to help turn our political situation or bring international attention to our dilemma. i feel this is very important, and really can't wait to hear what you guys suggestion. and lets try and make these suggestions things that are possible for the average person to do.

Its been estimated that there are about 100,000 gambians in the diaspora. If only one quarter of that population makes a visit to the gambia( at one go) and demonstrate for a fortnight-seriously, i think jammeh will go.No joke real demonstration and ask him to step down.
Count me as one of them. |

Malian women did it with Musa Traore when he orderd students shot just like in the gambia. The women took to the street and was the beginning of the end of his rule. Sometimes we need to sacrifice a few of us for the rest to survive. Sounds cracy but that is what history has always taught us. infact we are being sacrificed one by one and if you count the number now it is a lot. having that number go at once and achive your objective is better than having us disappearing one by one and achieve nothing.
May be i am scared too but then if every one is like me then expect no change. I think demonstrating is peaceful and brought about chandge all over the world. |

Hello Gambian women,
Well I must appologise on behave of my fellow men.Since independance,we have been in charge of your lives and have not yield anything for your childreen or ourselves your brothers,dads,uncles,sons.Now I want you to lead the way and we see what you can do.I am sure every woman is just like my mum very caring.I would not see myself week to rally behind a woman as my presidential canditate.
Just let your selves be known and you will know what Janyanfara can do to mobilise.I don't want any post from you just to be at the back bench to see how you perform for I want to be always there for the less previlaged as I was once.

Brother jans, we have agreed on many points before but we cannot agree more on this point. This is why I made an earlier post questioning the allowance in our constitution for a woman president.
We must give them a chance and see what they will do for us. No doubt that they have got something to offer. |

Our(Gambian 1995/96)R. constitution allows any Gambian of votable age to vote and stand to be voted into office includding the office of the president.
No doubt about that for I know to the bottom of my heart tha a woman way be better than men as men have failed for forty or more years, we should try women. |

Are you asking Janyanfara, or every body else?
Well I think all we can do as individuals is if you are in the Gambia as some of us,Make sure you register and encourage all your friends to do the same.I am sure this election will be different.My friend we in the Gambia are tired and suffering,maybe some of you people in Europe,Asia/America don't, know but things are very very very very very very unbearable here.
We have to go out and not only vote yaya and his jalangs out but campaign openly to show him we don't want him and nothing will make us subdue ourselves,not the foolish greenboys,socalled NIA or the Army.They are human beings like us and we are not accepting anymore totures from any body.I mean from any body.Every citizen is free to choose your candidate of choise so I have mine and will let the whole Gambia know I have.
You people in Europe and America if you support us fine if you don't fine but we will never let the Gambia be another Ethiopia or somalia.People with vultures waiting for them to die,NO WAY.
See what you can do individually either come and vote or help any opposition to be strong as the APRC who uses our state morney and no one can do nothing about it for now until they are uprooted out.
I told my mumthat from now,I shall never sleep and will work day and night to convince people to vote Yaya out.I know people are afraid but I can never be afraid if I commit no crime.This is my right as a citizen and I shall excercise it to the fullest and I will make yaya know that I for one don't like his dictatorial regime and will not vote for him.

| Its sad as a good patriots you are duty bound to express your frustration but this election appears to be already bleaked as Jammeh will win again! and again! and again! because of the dis-integration of power hungry opponents who don't know our priorities and what strategies should be adopted to topple Jammeh through the ballot box. There could have been only one effective coalition as an All Peoples Party. There is the need to seek for good profiles of candidature from all levels of society based on credentials and maturity and not being a politician or any party stalwart. The stakes are that we need a new breed of politicians and revolutionise the country in all spheres of development. Therefore all opposition must initially sacrifice and abolish their parties. Then organise regional general assemblies to nominate the trustees and executive representatives to coordinate activities in line with resolutions and strategic plans. Then we look for a flagbearer who I envisaged to be a new young dynamic potential leader or any smart person, either sex; excluding all veteran politicians; provided that the leader is mature and knows what are the peoples vision. The criteria for a selection process varies according to whats feasible and attainable. Food of thought? |

you maybe right here but who is ready amongst the new fire brands?.I think our problem is seen in ourselves.We would rather sit here in Europe and work for Europe rather than go home to be known by the people.Now the world is advanced and even those poor people if they don't know you,it is always diffult for them to trust you when you come to them for their votes.
I think the only way out is not whether yaya wins this election or not though sitasungo maybe right in saying the country would be harder when yaya is returned for another 5 year term.Thats because our trust was on the co oalation and they have shown their true colours.Now that all is lost(For I agree Jammeh will win 4 sure),what should we do for the people in the comming years to be a real challenge to Jammeh in 2011?This is what we should be focusing on noiw and now is the time for business people over run each other during the night.If we start now,as Jammeh is focusing on this year,five years to come,we will be a force to recond with and them we will get the trust and confidence of the poeople.

| Lets continue on this civic education program. Its peoples choice to pay heed to advices and proposals to revolutionalize ourselves. It also requires awareness and radical changes of attitudes in our political system and government. We have a daunting political system entrenched and very challenging to uproot for radical changes to reap more fruitful and meaningful socio-economic development benefits, justice, peace, prosperity and stability. Let them go ahead with their usual political business, characterized by sacarstic and character assasinations which all political parties are reknown of. Then later on lets get a proper networking strategy through Bantaba and other media to dessiminate flow of information; identifying good agendas for re-orientaion, better strategies and visions to address all shortcomings that retards our socio-economic development. |

| everyone believes that yaya will win; however, if we let him stay now, by 2011, for sure he won't get out. everyone is saying next time, next time, however, there might not be a next time. its sad that we're sitting around, literally letting yaya play with our noses and the noses of our families. to wait and finally do something when things can't get any worse is stupidity on our part. however, for now, i am and feel powerless, helpless.... |

| You are helpless like everybody else. In simple terms the political system has been abused, expolited and manipulated not only by him but also by veteran politicians who started before him because they set bad precedents and historic landmarks. He is capitalising on many loopholes; general ignorance of average Gambians, mobilising all Govenment resources at his disposal including the media, civil servants, Army, Police, Intellegence Agency, Municioal councils, a cooruot hand-picked (by himself) Independent Electoral Council, weak cutural values of praise singing and givig out money to Alkalos, Chiefs and a network of divide and rule policy, terror campaingning means against all opponents, just to highlight some amongst others. If a system is corrupt you must nib it from the bud. |
