After a recent visit to The Gambia I have returned to Uk and hate it. Gambia is a beautiful place, I love the culture and way of life. Uk is a mothered nation where we all get told what we can do and what we can't. I understand there are some laws there but not like here. I know tourism is good for the economy but if it gets too big then gambia will loose its appeal like most other european destinations have done, I pray this doesn't happen. Life there seemed so peaceful and "free". People here get things given to them on a plate, all the good people in Gambia have worked for what they have and this I admire a lot, it is the way I was bought up. I would live in Gambia from nov/apr if I could so any advice on that would also be welcome.
Hi, I have been in love with Gambia too and thought the way you do. People are peaceful but the life in Gambia is not very easy and "free" for them. My advice to you is to open your eyes and take a big bag full of money with you when you travel...and keep it closed...just kidding..what kind of advise do you need, where are you going to stay?
squeak, go with your heart but take heed of the advice that bantaba members give you. If possible go for a stay of three-6weeks for your first visit, pay for as much as you can before you. if you stay half board you will at least have meals paid for. i did this and knew when I arrived that the money I had in my might was spending money not food money. Where are you planning to staying.
