Dispute over hat led to fatal stabbing
This weekend witnessed the fatal stabbing of 19-year-old Anton Njie Hansen.
“The incident which led to the death of 19-year-old Anton Njie Hansen, took place around 6am Saturday on pedestrian high street Strøget in Copenhagen's city centre. The victim suffered multiple stab wounds on his leg and chest.
Video footage captured by closed circuit TV surveillance from a shop front showed three young men, aged 19, 20 and 21, confront Hansen and his friend.
The three men demanded that Hansen and his friend give them their hat, but Hansen refused. A heated argument ensued, followed by the men attacking Hansen. The fatal stabbing took place after Hansen had been kicked and punched repeatedly.
One of the men, the 20-year-old (originaly from Iran), was found with blood on his clothes and a knife in his possession on a street adjacent to the nearby Royal Theatre shortly after the incident.
He was arrested and remanded in custody for 26 days. Approximately half of the time will be spent in isolation.
His two accomplices, the 19-year-old (Dane) and 21-year-old (born in Brazil) turned themselves in around midnight and have been remanded in custody until 31 January. Eleven days will be spent in isolation.
All three are charged with manslaughter and robbery. The suspects pled not guilty during a closed preliminary hearing.
In December, a wave of shootings had led city police to expand the areas where they were authorised to search individuals for concealed weapons. The area where Hansen was stabbed was included in one of those areas.” Courtesy of The Copenhagen Post.
The late Anthon’s father is a Gambian and the mother a Dane.
Please accept our sincere condolences Joe. May his soul rest in perfect peace.

Bro. Karamba & Momodou,
Such episodes are common to our societies now a days. When I read yours, i remembered this one from the Gambia, so i decided to share it alongside. Sometimes you wonder what has become of ours-
sad though. Isn't it?

A sad waste of life. These senseless killings are happening too frequently amongst the youth. May Anton rest in perfect peace!
My sincere condolences to his loved ones who will miss him and all those others who have met such violent and senseless deaths in recent times.

What a sad and senseless death; my deep sympathy goes to Anton's parents and relatives.
It seems that brutality among the youth is increasing. In Germany there is a big debate about this topic; recently we had a very grave case of two young migrants almost killing an old man. The fact that these boys were of Turkish and Greek origin made some unscrupulous right wing politicians exploit the case; it served their purpose too well.
This week the German news magazine 'Der Spiegel' says that young men are 'the most dangerous species in the world'. I am sad to say this, but they could be right. |

I agree totally, here four young guys got their sentences yesterday. These 16 year old boys chased and kicked down one boy in their own age at the party in oktober. They kicked the boys head and body until he died. These boys got 3 years in some kind of youth home and their layers complained it was too much...what about the waisted life of the one who died? In this case, the killers are from rich and wealthy Swedish families, one is a part of famous family owning several newspapers and publishing books and so on...these guys didn´t get sentenced for murder since their intention was not to kill!!! wonder what they thought they were doing? Playing computer game? What is happening with humanity? By the way, those guys use to go to parties and start fights and they belong to a so called fight club where youths and football huligans arrange fights...

The case against the two men who stabbed Anton Njie to death last January started today.
They beat him and stabbed him three times in the leg with a knife but they didn't kill him.
This was the explanations given, when Copenhagen Magistrate court began the case against two men of 20 and 21 years, who are charged for having stabbed 19-year-old Anton Njie Hansen because of a cap.
It was the youngest one, who confessed to the stabs, while the 21-year-old acknowledged to have given the deceased a series of punches.
None of the men however acknowledged the crux of the matter: the fatal stabbing of Anton Njie's chest....
I know his father is a frequent visitor of Bantaba and I once again extend my condolence to him. I am sure justice will be done so stay strong....

The 20-year-old Rasmus Balle Jensen, who stabbed and killed Anton Njie in January, has been sentenced to 12 years prison today.
The 21-year-old Andrew Satarivand, who was yesterday acquitted of collaboration for the killing, was sentenced to two years for attempted robbery of the 19-year-old Anton Njie's cap.
Satarivand, who is Iranian citizen, was also sentenced to conditional expulsion with a trial period of two years. If he commits any crime within two years after serving his sentence, he faces deportation.

My sincere condolences to his family. May his soul rest in peace. Certain people should not be allowed to breed, especially if they can only breed the lowest of the low. The sentences aRE ridiculous. Is that all they get for taking someone's life? Judges are so out of touch. |
