Does anyone agree about naming a president's child as proper to declare public holiday in Gambia?

bro Karamba,

To my humble thinking, it shouldn't be. One would question the basis for such a move. News is that Monday Dec 31st is the big day. boom!

www.gainako.com/

It is a looming situation. It is sad however to note the economic repercussion of the many holidays is not put to consideration by Jammeh’s administration especially a holiday as an ‘eke’ day for the innocent baby Muhammad. A man in the caliber of a ruler is supposed to live by example. It won’t surprise me if power is transferred to baby Muhammad before long as the paranoia intensifies. I have a fear that we are building a monarchical state-King Junkung I, II and et cetera…

Regards,
Dalton

Jawara had several children while residing at State House. Was he calling it public holidays during those naming ceremonies? When Tony Blair had his child while serving as Prime Minister, there was no special holiday to mark the occasion.

Above all is the life of this new Jammeh boy more important than that of Koro Ceesay and all those sons and daughters killed by Jammeh? Our Ghanaian brothers killed by Jammeh's command were babies too. Is Jammeh just beginning to value life? How can a killer celebrate life of a new born? Is it also true that Jammeh plans to hand over power to his new born after 40 years? Should Gambians then watch to see Jammeh grow his cruel ambition of stealing, killing, and now grooming a baby king?

This is the most ridiculous thing Jammeh has done of late. If really he cared about the country (economy) etc, he could have done a low key naming ceremony atleast to teach the people humility, to show why we must not waste precious resources, allow the biz community to make up for possible lost time during the x-mas and tobaski breaks.

I am very disappointed with Jammeh!

Why does that sound too bad to you? Maybe it´s a little strange but it´s public holiday on this day in many European countries or at least a half day. So if Junkung wants to make it a kingly day thanks to the birth of Jammeh Junior so be it. He is BUUR JAMMEH.
Happy new year to you all and I hope most of you will start the new year by relinguishing your hate for Jammeh´s rule and see The Gambia as ours and not Jammeh´s. Only after that shall we all benifit from your intelligency. I really admire your wills.

Bread Man

Happy New Year to You

Just before you proceed it is not a matter of hating Jammeh but bitter hatred of his manners. How is he able to reconcile the brackets of killing so many people in different families and now wanting a grieving nation to share his jubilation on a birthday celebration. That is hard to digest, don't you think so?

Point of correction, I did not say hate Jammeh, but hate Jammeh´s rule. Just as I always said, Jammeh is innocent until proven otherwise. He can anyway cerlibrate the birth of his first son in a manner that befits his possition as H.E.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL BANTABA CONTRIBUTORS,VIEWERS AND THE ENTIRE PEOPLE OF THE GAMBIA, AFRICA AND THE REST OF THE WORLD.mAY THE NEW YEAR BE A YEAR OF HAPPINESS FOR ALL THE SUFFERING PEOPLE OF THE WORLD.
Amen!

On the issue of Jammeh declaring today as a public Holiday for the naming of his Baby son,I think Jammeh is not mucking any one but himself. The reasons are simple!

(1)Here is a man who said he champion the cause of women of the Gambia yet when Mariam was born, it was never decleared a public holiday so why Muhamad's.

(2)This shows that muhamad is more important than Mariam even to yaya because he is a Boy.

(3)If Yaya beliefs in the modern world that men and women are equals, then he has insulted his own daughter and all women of the Gambia including his mum, and wife.

(4)I don't know where sister Omega would be at this time and what she thinks by this move of a fool who thinks everyone is cement headed!

Gambians live in a state of fear and one should not blame them.Who would openly boycott this programme and stays in his job the next day?
If you are fired the west never cares about Africa much more individual africans.Who will take care of your huge family?Lets just say we are doomed.

Our brothers in the military have betrayed us alland the country. They have violated their vows to the constitution. You now see political soldiers rather than military personels. They openly participated in politics. While they beat or mime any one who speaks against dictatorship they encourage Yaya to increase his grip on power by offering him the tool to do so.

Do we think Yaya does anything wrong? No he doesn't our soldiers do.If they belief in democracy, and valued their families and their childreen the way Jammeh does, then Gambia will be without Yaya Jammeh as predident the next day.But they don't care as long as they are well fed and can build beautiful houses sleep with any woman they choose.

This is indeed sad.All institutions have been hijacked by one man, only one man while the rest of the country watches saying little or nothing.

Baby Muhamad's Naming ceremony should indeed be a public holiday as the military are soldiers with a difference. We must never forget.

Good nights fellas!

I am struggling to come to terms with this nonsense. What's going on? Yaya Jammeh is doing every thing expanding his political and cultural influence at the expense of the inhabitants of our tiny helpless Gambia. This is a waste of national resources and should be strongly condemed by all progressive citizens. This man's mentality is doing the Gambia more harm than good. This action alone says alot about this tyrant and authoritarian man. This is a nightmare! He is doing all these through the services and encouragement of those many corrupt misduided individuals who are in his favour just to satisfy their selfish thirst for position and greed conning the poor nation. There is absolutely no reason for a public holiday just to party for his son, if he think through such activities Gambia will achieve vision 2020 then he is deceiving himself.

Your points are well baked for wholesome consumption. Gambians are playing with fire. Jammeh is a fire man and not a fire quencher. His manner of selfishness is clearly manifested. It is sad enough that Jammeh duplicates unruly conducts with everyone in Gambia watching for nothing. Some day all these will break down and Jammeh will wish it was not him. Lot of very insensitive and unreasonable persons have done worse things. They never had good end. There is no power of magic to protect Jammeh. Sadly, before everything turns hell for him, he would have sunken Gambia deep enough for timely rescue. It is not normal that a person only thinks of entertainment as Jammeh does.

Bread Man, such conducts of your man count up when many turn around to reject what he does. This is a country and not a household. Jammeh is playing too much. Do you still agree that Mr Jammeh must be let free to mismanage our dear country? I sincerely don't agree with that. I have particular regards for you Bread Man as a person and hold no desire to alter that. Your take on Jammeh's misconduct is where I fine no grips to share with you. If you can talk sense in your man the better for us all.

No, Jammeh must not be left to mismanage the country. However, I do not agree that he is mismanaging the whole country. I know some of his manners might look arrogant but being a soldier goes along with a manner that does not apply in real civilization as approached by non soldiers. So some of his action are purely military and yes wrong but we voted a soldier in and we reckoned his leadership will be with some military style. I believe that Jammeh has a good will for the nation and he is very well proving that.
