The Gambia is small a fact no one doubts in this day and age but what does that mean to us its citizens ? I wonder at times why we do not get it right at all when it came to moving on as progressive people on a scale comparative to other nations. A common trend in our people is to stereotype others by locking on to their size say if a person is tiny they would say ;regard him/her as small minded etc . Coming from that perspective ,could one if in agreement with that summation say that we Gambians do not think grand because of the size of our nation. I am just baffled by the way in which our dear mother is progressing or regressing depending on ones point of view. But then the question on a larger scale is why is Africa not progressing like other third world nations ,it certainly has nothing in my opinion ,to do with it's size because in that domain we are giants. On the comparative scale of development we have been dwarfed by the rest of the world .

All very true, but do Africans really want to join Europe or India or China etc. in the way those countries are "developing",? I think not.Africa is the richest place on this earth for minerals and all things natural but the African cannot manage all these things and is often taken advantage of by those from other countries outside Africa who exploit that wealth,
The Answer...........I havn't the remotest idea........maybe someone on Bantaba has?

"Simple is good" & I strongly dislike politics. You cannot defend the indefensible.

kaanibaa, it is a mind set, look at how the rural areas are neglected, it would be easy to open up the roads, put on better transport, give them a newspaper, media access, schools etc. This would improve Gambia for Gambians.
small is in the mind of the beholder, look at the powerful nations, UK and Japan are small countries but people look to them for answers.
IT IS A MIND SET.
