Captain Solomon Jammeh Passes Away
Monday 24th December 2007

By Abba A.S. Gibba

Captain Solomon Jammeh, another senior military officer close to President Jammeh, died on Saturday after a sudden illness, accentuating the concern of some members of the public about the uncanny similarity and frequency in the death of officers forming part of an elite unit.

The late Capt. Jammeh reportedly fell sick and was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced clinically dead after some hours.

The deceased is reported to have returned from Nigeria about two weeks ago, where he underwent a Junior Division course.

The late Capt. Jammeh, who had no doubt gained reputation as a cautious and capable soldier, had one-time served as the Camp Commander at Kanilai before his latest posting to the Army Joint Headquarters in Banjul.

He joined the army 11 years ago, rising through the ranks to the rank of Captain. He was laid to rest on Saturday in Kanilai, his hometown.

The death of the late Captain comes hot on the heels of that of Major Musa Jammeh barely a month ago, both preceded by the death of Captain Tumbul Tamba, who died some nine months ago in similar circumstances.

Both late Major Musa Jammeh and Capt. Solomon Jammeh were Principal Protection Officers to the President, Dr. Alhagie Yahya Jammeh.

The late Capt. Solomon Jammeh is said to be survived by his wife and children.

I suspect a KGB style killing. Someone in the Gambia should start a petition for an investigation, may be an autopsy of these dead soldiers will turn up some toxins in their blood, hair or other tissue. Their families should also demand medical records, I think they may have a right to the medical records of their loved ones especially if they die in mysterious conditions...

Thanks Bro. Kay,

that's what a friend commented yesterday. but who must this person be? at the same time, don't forget the autopsy age in the Gambia. but yes, that's a leading idea to trace the 'root cause.'

Kay,

Good idea that is. Remember the deceased soldiers belong(ed) to a clique. My big doubt is that their families would not associate the matter the rest of us do. Besides for them to raise the issue makes them challenge an authority they may not choose striking conflict with. That is just an observation. There is already a movement that the Jola ethnic group is now ruling and they must stand together to retain control. If now they die in mystery that is a whole twist of matters.
Yes, an autopsy is good to consider.

Brother Dalton1

Is Colonel Vincent Jatta also gone while Kawsu Kamara battles on? How close was Colonel Vincent Jatta that he was able to consume the Kanilai concoction? Are all these deaths accidental or where are we heading? Is it true that Jalang (idol) feeds on human blood?

Well! Well! Of course death is obvious and imminent but probably the trend at which it is happening at one angle suspends others in the deepest of thoughts. If news coming from home is to go by, we lost another military man. Within a short period of time, close associates are drowning mysteriously. Like another (Kay Jatta) commented “it is synonymous of the ‘KGB’ type of elimination. Pointing a finger without proper dispensation of the whole truth might be too soon. (Agreeable!!) But it is crucial we question the trend at which it is creeping now. If it is natural, so be it. If it is hand-orchestrated, then let justice prevail, for after all, Gambia is one big family that is not used to such happenings.(Courtesy of Gainako)

I am sure, like me, many are whirling in the deeper horizons over the shock. What is the truth behind this?

Regards,

Do I know Solomon Jammeh, someone can perhaps help me. He graduated from Gambia college with HTC, then joined the military some time around 1995/1996 as a cadet, then went for officer training abroad. He is a big fellow structurally, very friendly guy...
You know Gambians living in the Gambia, particularly the families of the victims need to start standing up for their fallen loved ones by asking the tough questions. It is not going to be an easy thing to do because they are for sure gonna have to face all kinds of government obstruction, but the only way to break the resolve of oppression/repression is to continue to challenge it with hard questions...

extend our condolense to the family of vincent. It is only God that knows wholly what people think or do. In fact, it is quite sad that he died mysteriously.

Thank you both for your mild rejoinders. May God protect us from evil and the will of evil; may God purify our hearts from every dirt or evil thoughts. (amen!)

I think this person is very familiar. On the day of the Coup, he was going around offices asking about where cabibet ministers were. He happened to come to my office at a time i did know a coup was already happening. He told me to leave for my own safety. On my way out i realised the whole office was empty and met up with the coup leaders on Independence Drive.

I was the last to leave my office and would have been a dead man by now if events turned out bloody because i would have been in the line of fire. If the picture on Freedom is the same man, then thats the very man who asked me to run for my life on Junly 22, 1994.

Dead men never talk!Let all witnesses go before they are called to narrate their part in the events that would unfold after the big day.

Even that would not avail you Mr.crazy dreamer.Even if you eleminate the very ones you use to poison, shoot or other means through your murdering machines, the truth will come to light.Mark you some not all will die before you .Some must excape your crocs, bullets or poison and some must live to narrate your terror word for word! The living would witness a day after Jammeh.
