All those who accepted job offers from Jammeh thought it was a mark of their indispensable competence. It is when they come to find out the issue turns to serving the dictates of a commander and not national service then things go bitter. After all bad encounters, they either get killed, sacked but at least disgraced. They have their story but most of them already betrayed Gambians by serving to prolong this heartless dictatorship of a brutal regime. Much of the experience is enough wake-up call to let others realize nothing works with a coup branded regime. Lamin Sanneh was seen as a signing star of civil engineering genius. Latest pictures revealed that Sanneh indeed served on the broader political platform to sell the regime's deceptive agenda. He was sacked, purportedly tortured, and finally dumped. He sadly died after all hard times out of grace. More sad tales in stock for all those who would not see light except when the sun goes higher. |

She was a recent staff at the Airport. I think she was promoted above all her seniors. Obviously that is a fight. I am not sure if she was even a manager. By forcing retirement on all her Directors lIke Bojang (Operations Director), Mrs Ngum, (Director HR), Director Engineering (Thomas) and others, the battle ground was ripe for a reaction. Furthermore, the fact that she was promoted above all her seniors to become Director General, the process of stepping on toes had begun. It was a matter of time for the rifts to show and cracks developing.
This is not a new trend. Many were promoted above all their seniors with the hope of turning them into psycophants and die hard supporters like in the case of RVH, were a dresser became Chief Executive,
It did not work in the case of Maimuna. She is a British Citizen so she has shoulders to lean on.

Well i dont know her in person, but she did have a meteoric rise to power. Along the way up, i believe some never liked it.
Like in Sierra Leone, they say "slowly slowly, catch momkey". Its more like the race between the tortoise and the rabbit or more like Lankule and Baruka in the "Lion and the Jewel" where caution wins the race.
I dont know what she did, but i do know that she rose way above and much faster to the top which in Gambian office politics is an administrative sucide. Rememeber this is public service where seniority and not "competence" rules the system. |

I too know how Bojang and others were sacked thats why I called sleeping dogs to let lie because Maimuna was used by the system we all shunned. Now when she became a victim, she then realised "oh what have I got myself into?".
