Alas!!! A soldier willing to tell the truth. He is a rare speices indeed. Where are the Binneh Minteh's of this world who have been parading phantom bravados about their role in the catastrophic regime called the APRC. These liars must hang themselves in shame. So there was a planned counter coup on November 11 after all. Thank you very much Sir Jackal!! Here is a soldier who believed in something noble and was ready to die for it because he believed he had what it takes to effect regime change for a better Gambia. Even though he failed, he had to guts and sincerity to tell the truth, unlike some. I may not agree with his method of regime change but nevertheless i salute a real soldier. I salute you Sir Jackal!!!!!

Help yourself with part two of the interview.

Bro. Shaka,

Good to see you back after years of debating tensely about that matter. I long since drew my conclusion, incase you missed it, find links below. I also reviewed the interview i conducted then. (recall memory!!)

to come out and explain; what happened, what they contributed, what they saw, and how
much wrong is done.

The Jackal has succeeded in adding lines to what SB sabally prior also mentioned...

thanks

YERO ,the case against yahya's government is componded in many angles.he did have others who sided with him at the begining but he decieved the lot of them.the intention according cham joof was to remove jawara who then was without any ideas .but the revolution turn into another predictable african jambori; self interest and power hungry .jammeh plan to stay not to return back to the barracks as plan by the other council members ,he started betraying them .he became intoxicated with power and once a leader start to kill ,he never stops.those who try hard to deny the death of our fellow country men ,most remember ,no injustice remain without its due repayment ,whatever form that may be.

Thanks Dalton. I remebered that interview you had with Binneh Minteh and knew then the man was a self glorifying liar. I am glad that i am being exonerated when many had fallen for his 'superman' fanthom tale and had tried to crucify me for not buying into his tosh. I have just read Sam Sarr's book and in his naration of event on the day of july 22nd 1994 at denton bridge, something strucked hard on the face and i had to laugh out loud in disbelief. If you could remember in you interview with Minteh, how he weaved a tale about how he single handedly mediated between the puschists and the loyal goverment TSG police officers led by Chongan at Denton bridge that miraclously stopped the blood bath that would have ensued. How in between this standoff he got hold of a vehicle, rushed to statehouse to try to convince Lang Tombong Tamba and the statehouse guards to surrender as well as dashing to the police headquarter where he had and audience with the man he called a coward(Press Jagne) and so many other "bolokass"? Well, well, after reading Sam's book, it struck me that this is the very role he(Mr Sarr) had alleged to have played. The question is, since no two people were playing this same role at the same time, one of them had been feeding us some dirty "Mbahal". I suspect Minteh had laid his hand on Sam's manuscript before it was published into a book and just could not resist being in the hero's shoes and attempted to pull the wool over the eyes of the unsuspecting internet audience by morphing into Sam. NDEYSAN!!!

Bro. Shaka,
He still might have mediated though on July 22nd

But there are still fundamental questions that need answers from many of these soldiers. For the benefit of those that missed the thread then, here is a forward.

Also, to note that Binneh exposed the Jammeh thugs seriously especially the killer machinery. He is one of those that isn't silent. That part from him is truly likeable.

Thanks though Bro.shaka.

Q. WHAT WAS YOUR ROLE IN THE NOVEMBER 11TH ATTEMPTED COUP?

Minteh...I vehemently deny the claims of the Military Junta that November 11th was an attempted coup. There is no truth in the claims of the Military junta that it was an attempted coup. As far as I am concerned there actions only stemmed from paranoia, and there efforts in consolidating there positions. There was discontentment and dissatisfaction within the ranks of the army, that may have poised them to act inhumanely and took innocent lives. My barracks was attacked shortly before 2.30am whilst we were on our normal standby routine after they had carried out massive arrests, torture and some executions. Lt Abdoulie Dot Faal was arrested whilst on a patrol duty to Yundum Barracks. Lieutenant Gibril Seye was arrested whilst off duty at his residence. The rest of the officers were arrested whilst returning to Yundum Barracks for their normal standby duty. Fellow Gambians, there is not a single truth in their claims that we attempted to overthrow them.

A FORMER ARMY LIEUTENANT CLARIFIES
By Dalton
MN, USA
May 21, 2005
Mr. Binneh S Minteh is a former Army Lieutenant who resides in the New York state of America. Recently as is seen in bantaba, allgambian, Gambia-L and some of our local newspapers, Mr. Minteh have been subjected to personal attacks and character assassination by people under hidden identities claiming Mr. Minteh's involvement in some of the atrocities done to Gambians by the Jammeh Gov't. This weekend, in a phone call conversation with Mr. Minteh, here is his explanation to clarify doubts of the many that never know him.

Q. TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF

I am former lieutenant Binneh s Minteh of the then Gambia National Gendarmerie. After the integration of the Gendarmerie into the Gambia Police Force as the Tactical Support Group, I automatically assumed the Rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police until after the July 1994 military coup when the Tactical Support unit was reintegrated to the Gambia National Army. From there I was a lieutenant again. I am originally from Fatoto in Kantora District of Upper River Division.

Q. WHAT WAS YOUR ROLE IN THE JULY 94 MILITARY TAKEOVER?

My role throughout, was rather a mediating role to avoid bloodshed. On the sad day of July 22nd 1994, I was deployed to the Denton Bridge with some troops to barricade Members of The Gambia National Army from crossing to Banjul. Unfortunately, we were deployed with limited means to counter the insurgence. The Men under my command each had only an AK 47 rifle and two magazines of armour at their disposal. At that juncture all that any responsible commander could have done was to avoid the use of force. After a careful assessment of the situation, I took up responsibility to approach the insurgents, with the primary goal of finding out what their concerns were, so we could find an alternate solution to their concerns. Upon arrival at their location, I was halted and ask to lay my arms down and raise my hands up. Without any sense of fear, I noticed that the insurgents were lead by Yaya Jammeh and Edward Sighnateh with Major Amadou Suwareh taken captive. I then asked them what their problems were, and my simple reason of approaching them was to try to avoid bloodshed as we are all Gambians. This was what Edward Singhateh responded;" Minteh, I know you. Listen we have broken the armouries, we over ran Yundum Barracks, Fajara Barracks, we are more armed than you and we have outnumbered you. We can blow the bridge with just a grenade. If you cannot join us just withdraw your men from the bridge, because we will blow it up". My respond to Edward was that we will not get to that point as we are all Gambians. I told him that we will not resist and will have the authorities come speak to them. Upon getting back to my men on the ground, I found MAJOR CHONGAN giving orders that we should fire at them when they try crossing and then he left the bridge. One thing I learnt as an officer is to deploy and use my men in accordance with the means available. I concluded that resisting and fighting back at that juncture was poor leadership and just sacrificing our men. I then ordered the men to withdraw from the bridge and follow me to the Inspector General's office. Upon arrival, at the Inspector General Pa Sallah Jange's office, the situation was explained to him and was urged to come down on the ground and talk to the insurgents. His respond was for us to go negotiate with them and that he was on his way. The authorities failed to take up their responsibility in facing the reality on the ground. By the time we left the Inspector General's office, the insurgents were on Marina Parade heading to the State house. I then went straight to the main gate of state house on Marina Parade and ask the Guards who the most senior officer was on the ground. He called Lieutenant Lang Tombong Tamba for me, who told me that they were given orders to fire as well, but all of them left including President Jawara to the U.S. Naval vessel. My advice to Tamba was not to resist because there was no way they can put up any kind of resistance as it will just turn fatal and bloody and that they can never contain the situation. I urged him to open the Gates for the insurgents and that we should only find a peaceful solution to the problem. This was how Jammeh and his men had access to the State house. Upon entering the State House, series of meetings were held with some senior officers of The Gambia National Army, but nor Major Chongan neither the Inspector General of Police were present. It was later on announced as a coup and Edward Singhateh declared that it was them Five Junior Officers who are the council members and by virtues of their seniority Yaya Jammeh was the most senior and he is the most senior and therefore the chairman. I was later on deployed to Fajara Barracks where I assumed responsibility as the Battalion 2nd in command.

Q. WHAT WAS YOUR ROLE IN THE NOVEMBER 11TH ATTEMPTED COUP?

I vehemently deny the claims of the Military Junta that November 11th was an attempted coup.

Q. WHAT OTHER THINGS DO YOU WANT GAMBIANS TO KNOW?

I want Gambians to know that my actions are not geared towards making a name, but an appeal to our community to abandon the intransigent cynism of current state of affairs and return to the active Political ambition of redeeming our country from decadence. We should never abandon our pride in our nation's democratic promise, but be obsessed with it to inspire the shared social hope that will motivate our actions towards a proper dispensation of justice. Fellow Gambians, I therefore urge all of us to support the opposition coalition in their efforts to vote Jammeh out of power. There mission is righteous and their ambitions are clear and that is redeeming Motherland, so we will not be left behind.

Q. DO YOU KNOW KORO CEESAY AND WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM?

I don't know Koro Ceesay in person, but I know his family. His mother is a native of Fatoto, my native village in the Kantora District. I heard the sad story when I was a refugee in Dakar. I think that the whole world knows that he was hijacked and brutally murdered as Captain Ebou Jallow rightly explained. My own sources revealed the same thing. The Singhatehs and Yankuba Touray can never be clean in the murder of Koro Ceesay.

Q. HOW ABOUT DEYDA HYDARA?

Again I don't know Deyda Hydara in person, but the whole world knows that he was the owner and proprietor of the point newspaper in the Gambia and a representative of the RSF. Deyda was a level headed journalist who was very vocal against Jammeh and his government. He stood for the truth and fought for freedom of the press and opinion which is not only a constitutional and fundamental human right, but a principle of humanity. The murder of Deyda Hydara is only politically motivated and for the perpetrators of his murder to be brought to the fullest of justice, the identity of the "green boys" must be established. As the RSF rightly pointed out, The Gambian authorities should only turn to either the US or British authorities for police assistance.

Q. WHAT WAS YOUR ROLE IN THE STUDENT MASSACRE OF APRIL 10TH AND 11TH?

It is interesting that a bunch of ignorants are trying to associate me to the Student Massacre. The reality and the fact is that, I was in Salt Lake City Utah attending Salt Lake Community college when this tragedy took place. I did not have any role in their brutal murder, but I do have a role now as a concern Gambian. That role is to make sure that justice takes its path for these innocent children who were gunned down for stupid and selfish reasons. There murder is an international crime and I am committed to ensure that the perpetrators enjoying freedom under a stupid law of impunity are brought to the fullest of justice.

Q. WHY ARE YOU SO VOCAL AGAINST THE JAMMEH GOV'T? IS IT BECAUSE YOU ARE IN AMERICA?

I am so vocal against the Jammeh government, because as a concerned Gambian, I strongly belief that this regime must go by all means, either through "the ballot or the bullet" whichever comes first. Moreover, it is a moral obligation upon me to see to it that my country enjoys the great norms and ethics of what constitutes a true democracy . Since coming to the saddles of power, the Jammeh regime constantly embarked on instilling fear and terror on our people through murdering citizens and hiding under the heinous of a democracy and the rule of law.

It is not a question of living in America, that's why am vocal against the regime, it is a question of principle and an obligation that I owe to my country. I think it is therefore incumbent upon any concern Gambian to be vocal to prevent our country from falling into the path of destruction. It is also visible to all that the Jammeh regime is just a false front that is startled by the shamelessness with which his government is selling itself.

My problem with the regime is its human rights abuses, arrogance and incompetence on the part of the President. The regime has failed the country and must therefore redeem itself to the people that it serves. From 1994 to date, we have all witnessed tragedy upon tragedy. What about the thug of war with the media which has resulted to arson attacks on the independent newspaper, the BBC correspondent's residence, the fire bombing of a radio station and the murder of Deyda Hydara? What about the murder of Koro Ceesay, the detentions incommunicado without trial, the brutal massacre of student demonstrators? What about the attempt on Lawyer Ousman Sillah life? What about the many arrests and detentions without trial. We must not take these things lightly as they tell a lot about the future of a nation.

Q. IF OFFERED A POSITION BY JAMMEH, WILL YOU EVER WORK FOR HIM?

You must be kidding me. I am not one of those pseudo-intellects who don't live on principle. I would rather die poor in freedom than to be rich in slavery and servitude. For me, it is a question of principle not to ever work for the Jammeh regime. They must fully account for all crimes against humanity that they have committed and justice to be properly dispensed in that direction. My simple answer is will prefer to die than working for Jammeh.

Q. AFTER REVELATIONS ABOUT THE KILLING OF KORO BY EX-SPOKEMAN EBOU JALLOW, WHY IS EDWARD AND YANKS STILL AT LOOSE?

Well, the simple answer to that is because they have not faced any challenge in that direction. Once they are indicted and charged criminally by a competent court, we will all see if they will continue to be on the loose or not. We can only achieve this once we as Gambians organize ourselves and establish mechanisms that will lead to a full investigation on all these crimes. The murder of Koro Ceesay is a crime against humanity that is also triable in a court of law and there is enough evidence out there to file charges against the alleged suspects.

Q. ARE THE SINGHATEH'S A THREAT TO JAMMEH AND HOW?

The Singhatehs are no threat to Jammeh. I think it is Jammeh who is a threat to the Singhatehs. He has the capability of getting rid of the singhatehs at any time he deems it necessary. Jammeh to my understanding is in charge of the portfolio for Secretary of state for defense and therefore has more say in the defense and security affairs of the nation than Singhateh.

Q. WHAT WAS YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH JAMMEH, SABALLY, SINGHATEH ETC..?

Well Jammeh was my senior in The Gambia National Gendarmerie, in fact he was one of my training instructors whilst I was a recruit. I respected him as he cared a lot about our welfare. Singhateh was just one I met through armed forces functions and had very high respect for one another. For sabally, he was my school mate in Armitage High School.

Q. CAN YOU TELL ME WHY YOU ARE UNDER ATTACK BY PEOPLE WHO CLAIM THEY KNOW YOU?

I think they are attacking me because I am exposing the system in The Gambia to the civilize world. These attacks are pre-meditated and surrounded mostly by dissensions and discord which is a propaganda tool geared towards befogging peoples thinking about what I write on the regime on a daily basis.

Q. ARE YOU AT ALL THREATENED?

It is not out of any sense of bravado, but am not the least threatened because all I stand for is the truth and nothing else but the truth.

Q. WHAT POSITIONS DID YOU OCCUPY WHILE IN THE MILITARY?

I was the Gendarmerie Training School Commander, then Motor Transport Officer and Finally 3rd Battalion 2nd in command

Q. WHY DID YOU JOIN THE MILITARY?

I join the military to serve my country and defend our territorial integrity whenever the need arises.

Q. THANKS MR. MINTEH, IT WAS SO NICE TO SHARE VIEWS OF YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH US.

Thanks Dalton. Let's keep in touch.

I too had a heated debate with this cowboy Binneh Minteh. At one point on Bantaba , Bro Dalton1 thought that i was merely attacking Binneh. Dalton1 was it that you were blinded by anger?

Sir Jackal maybe the only soldier so far whose story i can buy, which matches the stories i had frm soldiers still serving and others former , who played one or another role on nov 11 94.

I reminded Binneh abt their PODUIM binge drinkings and his infamous Turkey deals. Binneh must be shaking his shameless head in bewilderment

Bro. Madis,

I spent at least two hrs on the old bantaba forum, checking the old threads yester-evening. Some threads from most contributors were threaded with emotions to which many participated, including myself. Some were misconstrued. Some were intended to cause bodily harm. Some as is the new dawn shows were factual.

Weighing from all these debates from SB Sabally, Minteh, Sir Jackal, Colonel Sarr, Ebou Jallow...where do the fact lie now?

back to re-opening the debate on again, I think it would be nice to hear from him again.

Thanks for your rejoinder.

Dalton

The diamonds will go fast. But honestly, it will be nice to hear from him again with jackal's recent revelations. The jackal's naration is very uniform; places, dates, people et cera mentioned with references. That's what makes narative essays nice, especially if they are of real life ordeals from personal experience in the case for Jackal. What the jackal did was just to take kerosine, throw on the thatch house and set it on fire.

The truth is what is obviously right to eye and the mind.

Thanks, though & good speed!!

Fellows Gambians, as i said earlier, i have have read Sam Sarr book.I came to a conclusion that Sam Sarr himself is a liar and a criminal.Sir Jackal narration of events contradicts what Sam said in his book.According, to Sam the soldier who was shot in the head during the encounter with sir jackal and his comrades, was shot while trying to enquire what was in the ambulance.Sir Jackal rubbish that.He said the soldier was killed during the fire fight. Why is Sam lying?Yes Benneh Minteh is another liar.Sam claim the role Binneh minteh claims in his earlier interview.Sam is not honest. He is nothing but, a shameless criminal, a liar, a hypocrite and a greedy fool.
