News from Gambia has it that the most feared of president Jammeh's killers, Musa Jammeh is killed in a case of food poisoning. No much details on how it all came about. Calls to the hospital where he was pronounced dead revealed that a strong hand of Jammeh's killer machinery is no more. May his soul rest in peace and those of the departed souls through his solid hands. Musa Jammeh and Tumbul Tamba (both deceased) have been most notorious for carrying out president Jammeh's killing orders over the years.

Yes, Musa died. I was on the phone in kanillai and they confirmed his death. However, it is not certain if his burial will be in Sintet or Kombo.
I have known all the two. Tumbul, prior to jammeh's coming to power was just a quiet guy. I visited Farafenni in 1998, passed through the barracks to see some of my childhood boys there at the time. He was the OC. and that was the last time i have seen him.
Musa, i last saw in kanillai in 1999 during a brief stop by on journey to Foni, while there was a festival , so the car we boarded had to drop some passengers there.
Whatever led to their alleged involvement in these known crimes, it saddened me. Family wise, they interact fine.
It makes one conclude the one at hand is poisoning peoples' minds to do his bad stuff. Bad influence is bad. |

Fears have been expressed about possible conspiracies that both Musa and Tumbul fell victim to ploys of destroying evidence about the many killings commanded by Yahya Jammeh. Does anyone know ? |

Also, the late musa was at logger-heads at some point. After he was fired by Jammeh for allegedly stealing materials from Jammeh's kanillai farm, he went down and settled peacefully until his reinstatement back.

Bro. Karamba,
loyalty for tyrannts can be quite very evil especially if you are in the capacities of the Musas, the Bombardes and the Tumbulus. For a fact, you dare not question the above. Loyalty in that uniform is to do everything to protect the crown. It includes killing perceived enemies, covering the man's cupboard skeletal nibs, et cetera. For example, i heard Bombarde is a trained "suicide officer." What that means is he will blow himself up to safe Jammeh's head. Those of us not in those capacities should thank God time and again. |

It is certain that death is an obstacle to justice on earth.
If only the crimes they allegedly committed are true, one would have expected justice done while they are alive. On the other hand, justice in the hereafter which is eternal is more worrying. That's the justice people should worry more about. If the crimes they allegedly committed are not true, it remains to be seen that they died with tags of blood on their foreheads that cannot be easily erased. This will go a long way haunting on their families and friends. Of course every person, even the most wicked have family who are bound to be with him at all times.
The question becomes, what are the accepted ethics of mourning someone? What are the accepted ethics of praying for a deceased? It is quite suspending in limbo. But here is how best it can be written. May Allah swt reward them for the good they did, and account them for their ills. In it, either way, it can be only Allah's mercy. |

Dalton1,
There are many sad episodes to mark the demise of Yahya Jammeh. Lot of good persons would have been deceived into evil, believing that all is fine. By the time they realize their folly, the bell is gone. Another way of looking at the case of Jammeh is about his ardent upkeep of devil worship. Tradition has it that devils that command idols feed on blood; in this case human blood. Even for those who may not believe this, here is an occasion to observe. Hardly a period lapses without some mishap of a type involving human life around Jammeh. If the belief that devils feed on blood counts anything, then Gambia is certainly in dangerous hands. What many still wonder is the special rod carried around by Mr Jammeh. Wherever he goes, the rod is sure to be. That could be a token of devil worship. What we all know is that Jammeh is not impaired to require a walking stick. Going everywhere with that stick is provoking enough speculation about his reliance on devil power. In one of the national elections, it is recalled where Jammeh threatened that devils would vote him in where Gambians refused to. He won anyway. If Jammeh takes orders from his spirits, then no need to consult human advisers. No wonder, we are not sure if Jammeh has presidential advisers. Who knows? |

Bro Karamba,
You are talking in a language I comprehend well. It is so sad then that his demons are feeding on his supports. We only hope and pray that they will finally swallow him also when the line-up associates are all gone. You know what? You are right. It is a routine of predicaments. If not one thing is another. I, the author of "demystification of the myths" is aware of such societal beliefs. Such blood sacrifices are not limited to sacrificing animals but humans. The alleged sacrifice of Jaliba Kuyateh remains a floating news to us still. Now very soon the command will be to his devils to get him, then we will be worry-free about those alien-beings monstering on us.
If for anything, it is following a trend here. Lets join the dots. I am becoming suspicious of some foul play, especially as alleged by some of our news papers that he died of the same disease with Tumbul Tamba, secondarily noted that it is food poisoning. Is it by coincidence? Is it a scheme? Could one predict Brigadier Tamba to be the next victim? I only hope their lives are not taken to cover/bury skeletal nibs of others of extra-judicial executions they are privy to. I hope not. That couln't be ignored in any enquiry commission looking into such matters.
Here they are; all history. Indeed in it is enough lesson to learn from. |

The hand that tied the lion also unties it (a Mandingo proverb). Can we rule out internal conspiracy in the government? Is it possible that the on going investigation into the 'killing of the Ghanians' could turn Musa Jammeh and the likes into liabilities for Chairman Jammeh? |

it can't be ruled out. I think that people should even broaden the picture more. In the end, soon or later, only the truth to the matter will last, though at such a time, evidence to help justice flourish will be covered. |

i am advice to stay away from bantaba whilst in the gambia but i cannot resist adding my little voice to both our emminent writers here .brother karamba and big dalton.yes musa jammeh is no more.i can't see any one even talking about him.i was at the treasury last week and people arround there were circulating the rumours of the man's grave illness .he is now dead.i neither smile or feel happy about his death.like every human being ,he made some faults during his short life. i only wish the reports about his brutality against innocent gambians can be comfirm in some way or form. the gambia today is a very different place.i was wrong to say that the people have become remorseless in the plight of their fellow citizens. the ones licking yahya's backside are to blame for all the attrocities commited against gambiams.yahya careless about the general gambia population.infact he is doing has he wish . the saying that ''nen katato yela yela ,nen katato mela hemela''is ture here.many of our true sons became complacent after associating with yahya.he has the power to bewich innocent unsuspecting folks.his sweet talk and patriotism slogan infect many decent gambians. musa is a victim of yahya's brainwash tactics. for now i leave his faith to his maker.both dalton and karamba i have been reading you two .keep up the good work.one thing ,gambians are reading the online papers like mad.i passby the point and observer sellers every morning but it seems people know there news is rubish.also the news papers contain only few pages, the inside is usually job adverts. may be sab or kondorong can comfirm this stories for me.i am under heavy cough ,the roads are terrible.i have a dozen pictures to release later. |

You take it easy easy & watch the craters in the road don’t swallow you up, or the G.G. van doesn’t turn over.
The Americans would do better to test their ‘moon buggy’ in your hometown I’m sure the craters are comparable to those on the moon!
Surely by releasing pictures of the roads you will destroy the image that is being built by the very large billboard further up the road Transforming The Gambia into an Economic Superpower in the 21st century Did you take your pictures from the 'rim' or the base? especially those outside the Police Stn!
Yes, Gainako is on the lips of many – if they’re brave - also very lucky if they have ten dalasi in their pocket for Internet, again brave, for which 'big brother' is watching?
When I left couple of weeks back – I see the hype was starting for the local elections whereby the AIDS treatment was rearing its head again on the front page of the D.O! Take great care, sab. |

Musa interred in his tomb
DO had a special coverage of Musa's funeral, but surprising enough Jammeh was not there to pay a courtesy. It is everyone's hope that such a person, in the caliber of a president's protection officer, the late Major Musa Jammeh would have won Jammeh's presence at his burial.
http://www.observer.gm/
http://www.observer.gm/africa/gambia/sanchaba-sulay-jobe/article/2007/11/20/major-jammeh-laid-to-rest
Major Jammeh laid to rest Africa » Gambia » Sanchaba Sulay Jobe Tuesday, November 20, 2007 The late Major Musa Jammeh, was laid to rest yesterday at Sanchaba Sulay Jobe cemetery, where thousands of sympathisers, relatives and well-wishers gathered to pay their last respects.
Soldiers also came in large numbers to attend the funeral of their colleague; military gun salutes, blowing of the saxaphone and flute in the remembrance of their falln comrade, regarded as a true soldier and comrade-in-arms was the order of the day.
Considered a hardworking and obedient soldier with a high sense of responsibility as Principal Protection Officer to President Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh, Major Musa Jammeh was highly regarded by all. Major Musa Jammeh’s body was carried by fellow majors dressed in their ceremonial suits, shedding drops of tears as they carried their comrade’s coffin to its final resting place.
Speaking before the interment, Imam Abdoulie Fatty of State House Mosque described the late Major Jammeh as a pious Muslim, both of them having performed Hajj and Umrah together in Mecca.
Imam Fatty pointed out that death is something inevitable which every human-being must face. He noted that to be a soldier is very important and indeed a good and noble job. He said even in the time of the Holy Prophet, there were soldiers who fought battles commonly known as Jihad.
Imam Fatty added that being a soldier does not mean that you should not pray or forget about your religion, noting that everyone will account for what they do on the Day of Judgement. He advised the soldiers to be steadfast in their religion and respect their profession.
Imam Fatty called on the people to forgive one another, saying that those who were offended by Musa Jammeh need to forgive him as he will also forgive those who offended him.
Dr Ajaratou Isatou Njie-Saidy, vice president and special envoy of President Yahya Jammeh said The Gambia has lost a great soldier, dedicated and repectful of his job. She said President Jammeh decorated the late Major Jammeh because of his loyalty and dedication to duty.
She said President Jammeh is very sad and shocked about the death of Major Jammeh who was a patriotic soldier and citizen.
She added that the government received the news of Major Musa’s death with shock and she prayed that his eternal soul lives in peace.
For his part Brigadier General Lang Tombong Tamba, who hails from the same village as the late Major Jammeh, said it was Major Jammeh who trained him to become a soldier. He described the late Major as a man of intergrity, honesty and dedication to duty. He said Major Jammeh respected all his superiors irrespective of their age, noting that Major Musa worked with a clean heart.
The Brigadier General said that since the hospitalisation of the late Major Jammeh, he and other members of the Gambia Armed Forces and other national security services had visited him. Even in his hospital bed, Major Musa Jammeh would give his military comrades advice on taking care of The Gambia’s border security and making sure that peace and stability prevails in the country.
Brig. Gen Tamba pointed out that if money would prevent Musa’s death, he would not have died as President Jammeh made all efforts to save Musa’s life since he fell sick. He urged all the security services to be dedicated to their job and make sure that the peaceful atmosphere that exists in the country would be a lasting one.
Present at the burial were the Chief Justice, virtually all Cabinet members, National Assembly members, security services, civil society, chiefs, Alkalolu among a vast crowd of mourners.
Profile Major Musa Jammeh was born on the 12 December 1958 in Sintet Village, Foni Jarrol District. He attended Sintet Primary School and upon completion of Secondary School, enlisted into the former Gambia National Gendarmerie in 1982. His high sense of dedication to duty made him rise through the ranks.
He was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal, Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, and Member of the Order of the Republic of The Gambia.

Did he really die of food poisoning? What did he eat? Where did he eat it? Is there an autopsy? What is the cause of death? Is his family (presumably wife and kids) requesting the medical records of his illness? This sounds like the old KGB style. Where is the Gambia heading to... Lots of questions huh...?

Bro. Kay,
these are very trivial questions, yet looming.
I hope the delay in his burial was for an autopsy. If so, evident enough there should be some leads. I hope his family will show interest in getting it.
what concerns me more, it is said that the same disease killed the late Captain Tumbul Tamba. To me, it is suspicious of a foul play.
It is speculated that another one of those alleged executioners (name withheld) is also affected. How true?
have a good day! |
