Oh I think he is the first Paramount chief in our country's history.
I learnt when He(the new para.) was a cook for the then president, he used to give most of the left-overs to the then young leut.Jammeh while he was head of presidential security guards military police unit.
I now ex-chief cook now paramount chief Demba has been greatly rewarded. |

You are right. Demba was the Chief Cook during Jawara's days. Well it is a matter of one good turn deserves another. I think he is from Lamin (Kombo). |

I know Demba Sanyang and one of his nephews ia my very good friend. This man can cook better than most house wives in the Gambia.I think when ever he calls for the meeting if chiefs, he would cook one of former president Jawara's favourates shephard's pie. Waau! |

He became a big time APRC supporter. I am not suprised. He dresses in green a lot of the time. The wife is also local APRC mobiliser.
For one to be selected a Paramount Chief, one must have traditional rights to being a Chief in the first place. Our problem is we have too many chiefs and very few subject.
I am sure Osei Tutu is rolling in his grave angry for the title being used indiscriminately. |

Janyanfara, Are you sure? As far as i know he was controller of the President's household. Maybe that means a cook Wats wrong for being able to cook? I bet i can cook better than many women too. Does that make me any less than a man? Many Gambian men cook very well thanks to our overseas stay. |

Madiba,
Demba Sanyang was a cook period. What was he controlling?Do you know? I never said there was anything wrong for a man to be able to cook.I can cook very well and I cook for my wife and kids and my house hold is happy about it I even cook while in the gambia. If this makes one any less than a man or otherwise, well thats for you to say.I am on record I never said such.
What I said about Demba giving some left overs to then leut.Jammeh while at state house, I heard in Demba's own compound at Lamin. My friend if Demba's own family members call him Former president's cook, who are you to say otherwise?
I was at Demba's innaguration when he was made chief and what some of his family members said he was the president's(I mean Jammeh) good friend and even used to give him food when he was working as Jawara's COOK.
I wish Paramount chief Demba Sanyang all the best as I have nothing against him as a person.Infact I have high expectations from him in his new post for I know him well and I belief if given the chance without interferance, he can deliver well. But the truth must be told regardless.
Malang was working under Demba for your informantion.
I never engage in character assasination scribings
peace be on you for your negativity. |

This title of Paramount Chief is bogus. It is Jammeh's cunning trick of vanity fare. By calling commissioners governors and selecting what he calls council of chiefs, is all part of the wider scheme of total control. Gambians have to reject and resist all these tricks. It is taking us nowhere. Jammeh has no better reason for all these apart from self-perpetration. What more? |

Personally I find a man who will share the domestic load very attractive. We should each play to our talents within a partnership and divide the chores accordingly. |

Janyafara,
Why the outburst? Is it the case of empty barrel making lots of noise? If you have the facts let us know. I merely asked a question and you went on the loose. If you are truly a family friend to Demba , why report fallacious things abt him?At times i wonder what kind of a teacher you were? If you think that i am a stranger to the Sanyang family in Lamin, then you are day dreamin. If you have access to an old Re-current estimates before 1994, go to the office of president section you will see names and corresponding positions.Demba's Brother Jerreh was also a staff there. He was a steward. Thats if you care to know.
I dnt really care much whether its ur business of assasinating peoples character or not. This is a serious platform where i guess you would agree, that only the truth should be told and nothing else.
Good night |

Konds you too surprise me as a graduate of WEC nite sch in welligara. The pieces you put together are masterly done, even if i do not always agree wit you.
I wasn't an accountant as such, but you are right in saying i could have had a hand in votes. I worked as a civil servant in the first republic and luckily rose thru the ranks and at one time was responsible for the budget inputs of my section/dept.Intersting times then! |

Janyanfara, He was Jawara's chief Steward that is way some say he was the controller of the household. I myself have known Demba since Yundum School. He was a classmate of my elder sisters. I still meet him when I go to Gambia and surpose he is just like us other Gambians. |
